Greetings.
Right now, the entries belonging to the reviews are shown as the first image link, but we want them to be displayed as in the second; as it was shown before (with the snnipet enriched).

Hi Catalin,
thanks for your reply.
In fact it’s always the same size of a video thumbnail.
If you select a youtube video as a featured video every save process will start download the HQ preview picture of the video again.
Greetings.
I have a problem with “Newspaper” and Google. Recently, Google was able to get all the information from the reviews we make on the web (author, punctuation and so on) but suddenly it has stopped sending this information to the Google robot, so it has removed all the links to the entry. Any solution?
Hi there,
I think I encountered a little bug about the automatic thumbnail generation if you choose a featured video. Everytime the post will be saved or viewed as a draft the thumbnail will be downloaded again.
Maybe it would be better to check if the URL changed before downloading the picture again because it will spam your media library with thousands of thumbails if you use the preview often.
Best regards
Aaron
Hey Simion, thank you for your suggestion. I made the adjustments, however it still did not go full screen for some reason.
The size is 1500X600.

I am trying not to use a plugin to get a full width pic, please let me know your thoughts…
Thanks Again,

Yep, that’s how Google works; since the headline and link are explicitly to your page, there is no need to make a truncated URL underneath; so they show link to main site, then category to provide a jump link to that category.
Theme has nothing to do with this, however if you only wanted to show URL in serps, you would need to disable the breadcrumbs entirely.
This is how Google works. You’re not buying a classified ad; they are generating the SERPS based on usability. They read the breadcrumbs to show the path in the content, which is more useful if say it was book review, and the category was book reviews, you could jump right there, –or– click the main big giant link in blue which is to actual page.
Showing the ‘url’ in serps serves no practical purpose for somebody looking for information.
Hope that helped. 🙂
Hello, i would like to display near the category (https://gyazo.com/33d72d63279326d6cbe952e58458cb9f) another block that display a tag with the kind of post that is published. I mean something that show if the post is a review, an interview, a preview and others. Other ways are appreciated. Thanks for the support
Here’s the one we use, fyi

yeah done these things already. These 2-3 free plugins what you can find from wordpress plugins section are kind of horrible and none of these will hook up with newspaper theme. Only ones which are acceptable and offer some freedom to change and have better acceptable desing are the ones you need to buy. Example: Cubell Review system, codetipi review plugin, etc. Not tried codetipi review plugin yet (it looks exactly same as cubell review system), I am waiting answer from them does will it work with other themes like newspaper theme or not.
Also considered first to modify exisiting one to design it more acceptable form, or make (or order) new one from the scratch for newspaper theme. <- So many people are searching today proper nice review plugins, so it may be a good idea to make one and later even start selling it for 5-15 euros to everybody who likes simple but better looking and easily editable review plugin. It’s kind of strange that nobody has done it yet.

Hello,
I bought Newspaper 7 to monetize my site, but I’ve had trouble verifying with AdSense for months. Could a developer please look at my site and tell me if my AdSense verification code is in a place that a Google Crawler could get to? Thank you very much.
Most properly executed review plugins will “append” the ratings to the normal end up post meta hook. I use a related posts plugin (more efficient than the one in theme since it does micro caching of queries and is text-only). Also, some may need to load a custom font to work for stars, and might duplicate the slim font-awesome already loaded. Further, some may need to load custom CSS on the page, and might break due to any plugin or CDN being used.
Still, lots to test — https://wordpress.org/plugins/tags/rating/
Some also allow use of shortcodes to drop the content in middle of post, but obviously you need to test that.

Since existing review plugin is awful and people who create posts (contributors) for some really dumb reason can’t have access to review and other newspaper settings to create post, we decided to leave it as it is. No point to modiify and change it better. So we started looking around some better review plugins and found out that most of them does not want work properly with newspaper theme (will not add star rating to posts, will not show up) or does not work at all.
Example: Cubell Review System
Is there a way to make these plugins to work with Newspaper theme?
So there is no point to use user role editor plugin at all then, as you suggested in first place? I still can’t give permission to contributor (if I use newspaper theme) to create posts with reviews and other newspaper theme post settings (like adding source, etc.)?
Hey there,
as the title suggests, as I have edited some of the css to fit the colour scheme and hover effect as well. Is there a way for me to achieve the desired functionally as mentioned?
It only seems to open the accordion upon the first click and seem to be inactive after that. Only closing when another accordion section is opened.

Please advice on this. Thank you.

That’s kind of stupid that it has been built that way that contributors either will have access everything as authors and editors have or they do not have access to post settings (including review plugin). Most of newspaper theme has been built up pretty well so for me is kind of big surprise to see something like that, how’s that possible that when you built it you did not look through different roles. It’s really strange not to let contributors to use things what they need to make new posts. 😉
By the way I checked and I do not see that authors have access to theme panel, same time they have access to post settings and review part. So it means that it’s possible to make that change pretty easily.
Would even do that via user role editor, but have still not found that newspaper theme post settings part to enable to contributors. What name I should look or is it hidden the way that it does not show up on role manager plugin?
See the tutorials section in theme docs; Google it; try testing page with GTmetrix.com and read the how-to help there.
Theme has nothing to do with how you optimize your server/hosting; so good to review tutorials online for how to optimize WP sites in general, while learning to use and optimize WP.
But you can find some pointers here ! –

Welcome to WordPress! 🙂
Hi. I have no idea what happened, but now when I click on “General”, “Smart List”, “Reviews”, or if I try to choose A Post Template at Post Settings section it does nothing, just jumps the view to the top of the screen.
Does anyone else has this issue since couple days ago?
Thanks
Often for this kind of solution, it’s better to use a plugin for reviews, vs the theme platform for review ratings; this typically adds the meta box to the post pages for entry; then appends it to the end of the post meta section.
Or, another option is to create a new user role where you give all the permissions, but disable certain things.
Plugin is simpler method — we did this for one client as they wanted that to be ‘theme agnostic’ in case they decided to change themes a year later. I forget which plugin we used, but there are lots and lots of them out there.
Not sure that helped – just feedback.
Did you read the guides in the theme docs > tutorials section?
Did you review the “how to fix” on the GTmetrix page you linked to?
GTM provides explanations for each item you need to fix, why and suggestions. You just need to explore and look a little bit closer.
If you have trouble following website navigation, note the left side on the ‘documentation’ page here:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-theme-documentation/
note the ‘tutorials’ option in the list of topics?
that leads to various help and how to including DIY (do it yourself) guides, such as this:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/best-of-forums/
etc. 🙂
Good luck! It’s a learning process to be sure !
Hello Simion,
Thanks for your reply. I bought the template for 4 different clients and in the other 3 webs it works as is stablece in the control panel in the Ads tab.
Thank you
Best Regards

With other themes and review plugins we never had that sort of problem before. So why Newspaper is blocking completely normal needed thing for contributors? These reasons are incomprehensible to me.
And I already looked through the role manager and did not notice anywhere where I can give permissions for contributors only to Newspaper post settings (including review) plugin/part.
Most of our users are contributors who can write articles, make reviews, but they are not allowed to publish this things until editors are checked their articles.
You should really consider to fix it and make that plugin/part accessible to contributors too as most of other themes do today. Using LISTS, reviews, etc. it’s a part of posts.

Hi, I do not need filter function at each category page on the right-top corner, is there any way to disable?
could I disable filter function such as featured post/most popular/popular7/review score/random/ ?
Good suggestion, but nothing is being cached either. This appears to be a tagDiv editor issue as the editor must be changing the title so that it’s not reflected in the saved document.
In fact, I just reviewed the document’s source and I see the following:
<div class=”td-main-content-wrap td-container-wrap”>
<div class=”td-container td-blog-index “>
<div class=”td-crumb-container”>
<div class=”entry-crumbs”>
<span>
Home
</span>
<i class=”td-icon-right td-bread-sep td-bred-no-url-last”>
</i>
<span class=”td-bred-no-url-last”>
Blog
</span>
…
My title is “Articles” in the document.

Any other suggestions?

Hi,
In order to have access to the reviews, a contributor needs access to the entire post settings and theme panel as well so if this is something you need, try to use a role manager and give the permissions you need to the contributors from the plugin settings. It is easier than editing the theme core files and having to re-make the modification after each update because it will not work through a child theme.
Thank you!
