Hello Catalin. I changed it, but I’m changing it back. Really, to have it show across the entire site, requires changing a lot of files code everytime the theme gets updated. And even then it doesn’t display like it should. So I’m just leaving it as normal.
Can you please just get confirmation from the developers if they are working on implementing this in a future update? I’ve seen responses about a year old that it is added to a list of features. From the search results in the forum it seems like it is one of the most requested features.
Thanks
Hi,
Caching is the most obvious reason. You still served the old version of the css through cache and it since then got cleared. It’s always recommended to clear all cache after an update.
Thank you!
Here are 2 guides that should help you in updating the theme and visual composer:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
Thank you!
Hello,
I’m not sure I follow. Your image sizes in your block 4 is the same as on our demo: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/block-4/ It is not smaller.
If you want it to be smaller then you need to alter the theme code for that. you can use the theme api system like so: https://forum.tagdiv.com/td_api_thumbupdate/
Thanks
Hello,
We have no such reports of crashes happening when VC is not installed. The only safe method of updating Visual composer is this one: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/ The process should not take more than a couple of minutes.
Thank you!
Hello Larshell,
Unfortunately, until now we do not have any solution in this regard because it is not an easy task realizable. As my colleague said above, that section is not easily modifiable and this task involves to reconstruct the entire Mega Menu feature. In a future update, it is possible but we cannot say for sure if it will get done in the next update because we have a big list of fixes, improvements, and suggestions to implement. It’s hard to filter them and select which one gets implemented now and which one gets postponed. The developers decide if it gets done or not, though.
Thanks for your understanding!
So I recently updated our theme from version 4 to the latest version and the homepage and category pages aren’t loading correctly. They seem to have no CSS being applied and aren’t following the formats setup with visual composer. While the posts themselves are loading fine.
The thing is the homepage & category pages load correctly when I’m logged into the admin account. However when I’m not logged in it doesn’t load correctly.
This is how it loads when I’m logged in: http://i.imgur.com/37a1wvK.jpg
This is how it loads when I’m not: http://i.imgur.com/OlfAL7J.jpg
Any ideas what could be causing this?
If you’re using an optimization plugin, check your minification. I use W3C Total Cache, and always have to tweak the settings whenever they release a new update (like they did last week) to get my images to appear.
Hi again @rayarasmussen,
If you haven’t made any modifications into the theme files (css, js, php), you will not lose anything.
All modifications/customization through theme panel settings, like for: header, footer, posts, translations, etc., etc., … and all your content, never are going to lose them because they are recorded into the data base (DB).
When you want to update something, allways before make a backup/copy from all your files + DB (if something goes wrong you can revert).
It is not advisable to use Envato Toolkit for updates, I think he has received some bad feedbacks! Take your time and learn how to use FTP (File Transfer Protocol), is very easy, free and will greatly help in the future. You will have access and control to all your files from server.
Use the search bar in this forum, you’ll find 99% answers for your Q.
Thank you Nairolf. I have been updating the newspaper theme using Envato Tool kit for over a year now. I updated the theme a month or so ago and waited until this morning to update visual composer since the plugin needed to be updated. from the plugin folder I updated it using the zip file.
I am a novice and am a bit uncomfortable reinstalling the entire theme. Will all my settings remain? Will I have to start over and reconfigure everything?
I’d prefer it if someone knows how to fix my specific problem with Visual Composer.
I have tested all of my plugins and all seems to be fine.
Thanks again for your help
Hey guys,
I already changed this but it’s not perfect yet.
I just want to add that I would like to see an update for this in a future version of the theme, to make things simple and to work across all areas of the site.
Keep up the great work!
Thanks
I just updated the newsmag theme to the last versión and after i uploaded it throw ftp acces the mobile menu appears in the head of the theme, What is happening?

Also some features of the homepage get wrong, and i get a lot of blank spaces

PD: I had to keep my old version of the template in my website beacuse i couldn’t fix it, but i want to update it as soon as possible. Thanks
Thanks for helping me
when I deactivate VC, it crashes the whole site. Functions Line 207 gives undefined error and causes the entire site not to render. This is how the NP theme is coded. How to update VC without crashing the site?
Thanks Catalin,
I’ll drop something in the custom CSS panel.
Again, would be another good feature for future updates. If you could choose from solid, underlined, tab styles etc headers it would make it really easy to customise.
Hi
We’re sorry for any inconvenience you have encountered using our theme.
The theme is tested and feature images should be displayed without any changes in code. However checking your site I’ve found some errors in browser’s console which are related with theme’s js: http://screencast.com/t/A5oKnz8tg This errors may be caused by some plugins which conflicts with the theme or by some minifycation used for js. Try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear all caches, purge cdn files if you’re using, remove the css/js minification then test the site again.
The theme can’t control the informations picked by Facebook sharer when a post is shared. Facebook looks for og tags and picks the details from these tags. To generate the og tags you can use a plugin like SEO By Yoast which is tested and works fine with our theme. Please check these links for more details in this regard: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/getting-open-graph-for-your-articles/ – https://yoast.com/social-media-optimization-with-wordpress-seo-by-yoast/
Another important aspect is server’s response time. Facebook won’t wait to long for requested data and if the server respond to slow some data will be skipped. Checking your site with google page-speed tool I’ve noticed that the response time is higher then 6s, please check the screen: http://screencast.com/t/2qMDqyDS2 Make sure that your server meets theme’s requirements and also ensure that the parameters from system status have the values indicated here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/ – https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
It is very likely that Facebook won’t anything about a new published post. Facebook handle a huge amount of data and a new published post won’t be indexed automatically. However you can force Facebook to update new posts by running a fresh scrape with debugger tool: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object/ – http://screencast.com/t/8rKTpv28f
Hope this helps!
Thanks!
Hi
Thanks for your feed back, we appreciate any suggestion and each bug or bad functionality reported by customers are taken into consideration! Indeed there is a bit of confusion there because we check only if post founds number is higher then 1 but the post limit value from slide settings is not checked. We will change this implementation in future updates because we try to make the theme as user friendly as possible so users can be happy with it.
Thanks!
Hi
The settings from theme panel should not be affected by theme’s update as they are stored in database which is not touched during the update. The settings may be lost only if the db is damaged or the reset function is used: http://screencast.com/t/RnjDahif4r5
Try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear all caches, purge the cdn if you’re using then try to import the settings again.
Let us know ho it goes.
Thanks!
Hello kesp,
In a future update, it is possible but we cannot say for sure if it will get done in the next update because we have a big list of fixes, improvements, and suggestions to implement. It’s hard to filter them and select which one gets implemented now and which one gets postponed. The developers decide if it gets done or not, though.

Note that they answer tickets in order received; so posting updates actually pushes it back further in queue; oops, I did that too.
Basically, install theme and plugins via FTP if you have permissions issues on your hosting setup (where WP cannot remove/delete stuff in folders); this way you can *see* what is actually there, remove broken install, and do clean install of theme; this is very often the issue where something broke on server when WP was unzipping the zip file, and now can’t delete it due to being messed up. It happens 🙂
Try FTP upload/install — best way, every time!
(( I don’t work here; just 3+ year user! ))
Hi Chris S, indeed it would be great!
A little advice for that users who will want to use this improvement for Speed-booster plugin.
Using this code in combination for example with that one provided by Chris S in his [tutorial], you’ll have a double-edged knife (you’re warned! 🙂 ) if not used with caution.
Good to know: even if you update your theme to a new version, browsers/CDNs/… and in the end users, they all not recognize your changes until your rules for “Expire headers” will expire! and I’m sure that you’ll go crazy the tagDiv staff 🙂 with: “my users not seen me changes/updates” or similar.
In addition it should be recalled that a normal users (visitors) which makes search on Internet, will not erase the cache from their devices to see our web (recent version).
So, if you are use this snippet, use it with precaution in combination with an flexible time for expire headers depending on your activity!
Can be controled also by Cache-Control Headers but that’s another story apart
———-
Summary to remove query strings from static resources with Speed-Booster enabled:
• For functions.php (a slim version 🙂 )
function remove_js_ver( $src ) {
if( strpos( $src, '?ver=' ) )
$src = remove_query_arg( 'ver', $src );
return $src;
}
add_filter( 'script_loader_src', 'remove_js_ver', 10, 2 );
• For td-speed-booster.php
foreach ($this->style_footer_queue as $style_id => $wp_dependency_object) {
if (strrpos($wp_dependency_object->src, '?') === false) {
echo "<link rel='stylesheet' id='" . $style_id . "-css' href='" . $wp_dependency_object->src . "' type='text/css' media='" . $wp_dependency_object->args . "' />\n";
} else {
echo "<link rel='stylesheet' id='" . $style_id . "-css' href='" . $wp_dependency_object->src . "' type='text/css' media='" . $wp_dependency_object->args . "' />\n";
}
}
Good luck and nice/big traffic to all.
All thanks must go to Andrei L. because he provide us this custom work.

Hi!
I would like to report a problem.
I updated my theme from v7.1 to v7.4 and lost all my theme settings.
No problem, I have exported the settings… which is not working…
Maybe bad theme version, upload theme backup and then import… not working, every option is still empty.
Don’t worry, I have a DB backup, let’s roll back! Not working either.
Okay, set every option back by hand. Export theme options. Import theme options. BOOM, empty Theme panel again.
🙁
Screenshot from Newspaper system status

It’s the latest version of Newsmag 😉
From your Themeforest account, “downloads.”

Hi,
Running the latest update of Newspaper on WordPress Multisite.
We are having difficulty understanding why our “views” are so far off what Google Analytics and Adsense are reporting. For instance, an article showing 220 views according to our theme is actually showing only about 80 in Google Analytics. Example: http://lastwordonfootball.com/2016/09/27/leicester-city-vs-porto-champions-league-match-preview/
This problem persists on all 16 sites we have currently set up.
1. How are these “views” calculated?
2. Where do we go to check settings? Does it not run on the Google analytics code we installed in the Dahsboard — Newspaper — Theme Panel settings?
3. What can be the reason for the error?
Any advice is helpful.
Thanks
Hi Catalin,
Is it something you’d consider for future updates?
It’s a very popular style, at least here in the UK.
Kes
I think the user is asking about instant updates on the home page without needing the user to refresh.
