Hello steventsakanikas,
Your problem is font related. Those symbols are placed as characters not images. It seems like the font file doesn’t load properly. You need to check if you have any errors in your console. Also if you use a child theme make sure it is set up properly.
This could also be plugin related. Try to disable them (except visual composer) and see if the problem is still there.
Thank you.
Hi cha_siu123,
Newspaper 6 is practically a new theme, the whole code was rewritten so you have do a clean update and make sure that no old files remain. Please follow this guide to upgrade to the version 6 of the theme – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ Make full backup of your current installation – https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups and then do a clean update, meaning that we recommend that you delete the old version of the theme before uploading the new one. Then update also the theme plugins: Visual Composer (also optional plugins Social Counter, Speed Booster if you use them). You will have to run the script that will import from database your settings, will change the shortcodes(see docs)…
Please note that the old custom modifications to the files or custom css will not work, you will have to adjust and re-add them. Unfortunately you have to re-add the widgets to your sidebars(the custom sidebars will be imported – you don’t have to create them again) as they will become inactive or doesn’t exist in version 6.
If you don’t wan to upgrade the theme to version 6 you can revert to the old version that you used, just install the previous version and all should work fine.
Thanks!
Hello pmaalouf,
Please check this without any plugins active, leave only Visual Composer active, enable lazy load animation and clear cache. It may be a JS error caused by a plugin or a conflict between them. Also check your cache plugin because people tend to leave it enabled after clearing cache and disabling other plugins.
Thank you!
Hello Dematteo,
You can try to disable all your plugins except visual composer. Sometimes plugins can create problems or conflicts. Also clear your cache and purge files if you use CDN.
If the problem is still there, provide more details so we can closer incpect the issue.
Let us know!
Thank you.
Hello,
I have checked your site and it seems you have more problems than just fonts: http://screencast.com/t/dwEvbdWIQvq
I checked your console as well and it has a number of errors that need fixing: http://screencast.com/t/2KEuqNrRw
Try to disable all plugins except visual composer and clear your cache. Maybe check minifications if you use them.
Thank you!
Hi Alin,
I am not sure which version it was but It was installed in Aug 2014, this is the first time I updated since the installation.
I used the automatic update (option b) in the article. Do I need to remove the files and update it again?
The problem does seem to be with the backend visual composer, since I am not a coder myself, I rely on it. I have some other pages with only simple text content which are showing up fine.
The URL is http://www.hkanimalpost.com
Appreciated if you can take a further look for me. Thanks in advance!

This might not be directly related to the theme, however I figure I´d ask here anyway (since the support is usally really great!).
The theme resizes perfectly when the browser rezises (dragging the window narrower or wider). However, the Google Adsense Ads stays the same format untill the page is reloaded/refreshed. On resizing the browser window this causes a few odd visual problems when ads don´t resize to fit the new window size.
Can this be worked around somehow? 🙂
Website: enkelteknik.se or in English (enkelteknik.se/en).
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
Thanks Steven!
@deelauaki We recommend now Wp Super Cache(use default settings) as we made some tests and it behaved better than W3TC. Please try to clear all caches, deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer and Wp Super Cache and check again. Also you could try a different cache plugin like ZenCache like Steven suggested.
Thanks!
Hi,
Did you updated from version 4 of the theme? If you did used the old version please check this guide how to upgrade – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Do you have this issue only in backend? Please provide more details about this and also your site url so I can take a look. Also disable all your plugins except of Visual Composer, clear cache and purge your files if you use CDN.
Thanks!
Hello hatchet9,
The big grid were style in a such a way that if you use style 1 the iomages appear darker but if you use style 4, they are much brighter. You can see what i am talking about here: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/big-grid-4/
Switch between style 1 and 4.
You can change the grid style in visual composer http://screencast.com/t/ff8mPEdD
Thank you!
Basically, just change it.
Be sure the theme is not active; rename theme folder (generally you would do this on your PC/Mac prior to upload via FTP).
For example we change the name of our folder to our news network name.
Just change it from /Newspaper/ to something like /StyleBaron/ or whatever you website name happens to be — be careful NOT to name it the same as a category, post, plugin name, or WordPress function, just to be safe — like, don’t name it VisualComposer for example, or JetPack if you’re using jetpack, is tempting fate! hypehen and underlines can be used, like my-cool-mag … although I’d likely limit to 2 words, no reason you can’t do more.
If using a child theme you likely might need to check the style.css to make sure it points to the right place. I don’t use child themes, so if you don’t then it won’t apply to you either.
There is also an awesome resource called Google for many things like this — WP has been around over 10 years, so this is a very common question you can often answer yourself vs waiting for a reply here — not that anything wrong with that, or looking for pointers here from others who have already done the deed. 🙂
(pardon typos; this keyboard starting to die as is my brain …)

Hello EyeRock.
It is actually up to you if you want to create your own structure or edit the existing one.
You can edit the page in visual composer. Just open that specific page and edit the row to change the image: http://screencast.com/t/xnXUnKAFsCl
You can change block settings the same way.
You can read more about visual composer and block settings in our documentation:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-use-visual-composer/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-tutorial/
I hope this helps
Thank you!
I don’t use tabs etc…just blocks and it don’t work there is nothing in the VC i can use it all saying the…
Elements within this list are deprecated and are no longer supported in newer versions of Visual Composer.
For me to use VC i had to go back to the older version from before…i don’t give no one access to my backend sorry..

Hello vikrant,
I have checked your site and you seem to have some errors in your console: http://screencast.com/t/lGi3DN4PTm
Please check this also without any plugins active except of Visual Composer, clear cache and purge you files if you use CDN. Then disable any js/css minification (it may cause some issues).
Thank you.
Hi,
I also checked this on my side and did not found any issue with the block sort order. Please disable all your plugins except of Visual Composer, clear cache and purge your files if you use CDN, then check again if you still have this issue. I suspect it is a caching issue. Let me know how it goes!
Thanks!
Hi sesantanajr,
I have checked your site and some of your images are cropped, but they don’t have width and height, for example – http://screencast.com/t/Cmfz8ZNJUNJ it should look like this – http://screencast.com/t/uPWhut4R
Each featured image is cropped to a specific size, here you can see the thumbs used on modules – http://screencast.com/t/9xmQZoZFrGR and the code is located in td_config.php file – http://screencast.com/t/c7LeWSH7p3VK
You have to use Thumbnail Upscale and Force Regenerate Thumbnails only if you use smaller images than the thumb size on modules/block. If the images are not cropped you will have just to regenerate thumbnails – https://forum.tagdiv.com/using-the-theme-with-existing-content/
Did you modified the code? Please remove your custom modifications or try to so a clean install then check again without any plugins active, leave just Visual Composer active, clear cache and see if you still have this issue after you regenerate the thumbs.
Yesterday when I have checked your site the thumbs were cropped to the specific size. The theme doesn’t use the full size image on modules, I have just provide more details in the documentation how the theme creates the thumbnails and how to change the cropping mode if you want this.
Thanks!
Hello,
You can change the tab colors from visual composer:
http://screencast.com/t/bD0X3JqC – http://screencast.com/t/qYf6QxC5
If you mean the title of the tabs not the tabs themselves, you need to use custom css to style the H2 title of the block. You can target the h2 inside the container using child selectors and apply your styles to it.
Example:
.vc_tta-container > h2{
color:red;
background-color:green;
display:table;
padding:8px
}
If this is not what you mean, provide more details so i can better understand how to help.
Thank you.
Hi
I have checked your site and found some errors in browser’s console: http://screencast.com/t/pXxdNhs3m They can be caused by some plugins which conflicts with theme’s js so you can try by deactivating all except Visual Composer, clear all caches, browser cache also and test again.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!
Hi
The post grid and masonry grid are built blocks from Visual Composer and the theme doesn’t change their functionality. Adding a new filter for this blocks is not an easy task so this can be done with lots of customization in plugin’s files, but you would have to look for a developer from sites like http://studio.envato.com/ as we’re not available for any customization services at the moment. Also you can try a plugin with a similar functionality but we didn’t test any of those plugins so I can’t make any recommendation in this regard, but you can try and use the one that suits you best.
Thanks for the message!
Hi Steven,
I have checked this and before update we have made many tests using the latest version of VC. I guess you have this issue because you have used some VC elements that are changed, like you can see in the update log of Visual Composer and they appear deprecated. If you use some elements like Tabs, you will have to re-add them to your page as the VC developers have changed the classes, the design for them – http://screencast.com/t/3r1YoBw7
If this is not your issue, please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin so we can take a look, also paste a link to this topic so we can know what your issue is.
Thanks!
Hi
Visual composer plugin doesn’t have on option to create a sidebar, just to add one already created in Appearance > Widgets on the page using the widgetized sidebar block: http://screencast.com/t/mWckEF05M – http://screencast.com/t/WJgniVOJX You can use those sidebars in every post/page.
If this is not what you mean please provide more details, also a screen pointing the way you added the sidebar in VC would be helpful.
Thanks!
Hi guys,
Thanks for creating a great theme, its been an amazing site to work on seamless and easy to use.
I need some assistance with the Post Masonry Grid. It has been working for well over 7 months, but now it has stopped working completely. The only place we use it is on the home page:
It should be the 1st thing that comes up but it doesn’t and just sits there, no matter how long we wait it doesn’t come up.
I know this is a Visual Composer Plugin, if there are any suggestions, we’re stuck on how to resolve this issue.
Thank you for your assistance
AV
No reason to install the Child theme. Some people use them to hack theme settings in hopes they won’t have to redo edits on theme update; however that is a 50/50 proposition since often major theme updates mean changing child theme as well. If you’re using the built-in functions and control panel and visual layout, without needing to “hack’ things for some custom reason, you don’t need to use the child theme. It’s also a CSS redirect, which Google actually doesn’t like, but WordPress has this as a core ‘feature.’
Not sure that helps or not — but upshot: don’t use it unless you have a reason to!
Hi,
Try to remove all the custom code added to the page (ads, html areas, etc), i suspect this issue is caused by an error in the code. Also try to disable all plugins except Visual Composer and see if the issue is still there.
Thank you!
