Hi,
Thanks! I have inspected this issue and seems that some how the image is also pulled in the description and I can’t tell why as I have also tested this and haven’t had this issue.
My test:
Configuration: http://screencast.com/t/wakun3r1FwG
Result: http://screencast.com/t/fzCKtMLVfHex
First of all please makes sure that you use this feature right and follow this guide for that: https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-list/
If you still have issue with it after that please make sure that this is not happening because other plugins you use and disable all of them leaving just the Visual Composer active, empty cache/ purge files if you use CDN and check again.
Please let me know if you manage to solve this or not.
Hope this helps!
Thanks
Is there a way to use the TagDiv Slider Gallery in Visual Composer through one of the VC Elements or Blocks?
I tried to follow the Newsmag documentation for pages and create a TagDiv Slider Gallery through a VC Text Element by using Add Media > Gallery. But the drop down menu didn’t have the TagDiv Slider Gallery option.
I want to be able to add a TagDiv Slider Gallery into a page through VC in any location I want.
Thank you. – Any help would be awesome.
Hi,
Sorry for the delay!
You can do it via page builder using the Visual Composer plugin and set your page to full width then chose a custom layout for your page then use the widgetised sidebar element to set an already created sidebar or just build your sidebar adding other VC elements/widgets/blocks: http://screencast.com/t/zwsOdVFTwoE
You can also set a sidebar to the whole page, from here: http://screencast.com/t/R7eysHLebf0
Please also go trough our documentation:
* https://forum.tagdiv.com/homepage/
* https://forum.tagdiv.com/sidebars/
Please provide a link top your site so I can check this or if you use the “Homepage – bg + with article list”
or “Homepage – bg – no article list” page templates make sure you don’t use a slider as those template already add a big slider to the page so you wont need to add another, that’s why you get two slider on page.
You can remove the slider you have added in order to fix this or you can use another template and add it yourself.
Hope this helps!
Thanks
Hi,
Thanks Chris!
@jairosvt & @baschti23
This issue appears because of the Visual Composer plugin when updating to WordPress 4.1. We have included the fixed version of the plugin within the latest theme version so please make sure you download and install the latest theme version and also update the Visual Composer plugin from the /plugins folder using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/
If still doesn’t work makes sure you also follow the steps provided by Chris!
Thanks
Maybe create a sidebar, and put a text box in there with the shortcode?
Use the pure HTML/code option box in Visual Composer?
Or,
perhaps try using Google – great resource for learning WordPress?

Hello!
I have two licenses for the Newspaper theme and I’m trying to make some of the images on the front page round.
The only way to do this is with CSS on a div, but i need to identify the div in some way, and your divs have the class=”thumb-wrap” but don’t have any form of individualization.
Is there any way you could implement this change in your theme as to give users the possibility of affecting the intended div with our CSS code ? The ideal would be each post div have the categories the author chose inside the class (for example: class=”thumb-wrap europe society”) and like that your CSS would work and we would code the css for “europe” or “society” or whatever we wanted.
I ask this because if i do it myself and change the theme, then i can’t continue installing theme updates when you release them, and i think this would be a nice visual addition to the Newspaper theme.
Thanks in advance for all your help and congratulations on an fantastic theme.
so i updated my theme to the latest version, I deactivated all the plugins, and still, the pagination won’t show or even appear on category pages. plus when i try deactivating my visual composer, my whole website becomes unreachable. Regardless, please help, i receive high levels of traffic, and my content is not available for my users to see beyond 10 posts per category page
Hi
I am using WordPress Popular Posts on my Newsmag site and I am not finding a way how to put a widget on the homepage with the visual composer.
The plugin provides a php query function like this ( <?php wpp_get_mostpopular( ‘header=”Popular Posts”‘ ); ?> )
But I don’t know how to put in on my homepage with my visual composer.
Has anyone a way to do this?
Thanks in advanced
Hi,
You can edit the post template you use and add your image using the do_shortcode function() or via html.
You can use the shortcodes generated by the Visual Composer plugin to customize the image you want to add into the template before the comments template like this: http://screencast.com/t/l18UhAgW
Use this line: echo do_shortcode('add your shortcode here');
Hope this helps!
Thanks
Be sure to upload visual composer to version 4.3.5 from the all files download from themeforest. Visual Composer “broke” with WordPress 4.1. So, you need VC 4.3.5 to be able to use the custom editor.
If you simply cannot edit anything at all, that is different issue, often tied to perhaps a different plugin not working with WP4.1.
1) make sure you have Visual Composer 4.3.5
2) turn off *ALL* other plugins
3) make sure you can edit posts/pages
4) turn on plugins and figure out which is the problem.
Be sure to clear all your caches on site, CDN if used, and in web browser.
Hi,
@kinichb Sorry for the delay! Unfortunately due to holidays we are working on limited staff here and we all do our best.
Unfortunately we had some issues with the plugin version which was included into the last theme update but we have managed to fix it. You can download the theme form themeforest and install the plugin for /plugins folder as instructed here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/
@bonfaru You can also download the theme with the right plugin from themeforest install it according to the guide I have mentioned and please let me know if this still happens.
Sorry again for this inconvenience caused and for the delay!
Thanks for the message!
Hi,
We know about this issue and we have it on our todo list for future updates when we plan to redesign all Visual composer elements. Until then you can use this custom css to align the image to center: http://screencast.com/t/RuxUkWntd5k
.wpb_single_image.vc_align_center {
text-align: center;
}
Thanks
I have the same problem. Fresh WP 4.1, downloaded today:
Installing Plugin WPBakery Visual Composer (1/5)
Downloading install package from /home/wuetrs/public_html/bonfaru.com/wp-content/themes/Newspaper-child/includes/plugins/js_composer.zip…
An error occurred while installing WPBakery Visual Composer: Download failed. A valid URL was not provided..
Need a urgent solution too please. spending 58 bucks and can’t use it…
Hi,
@kungalvsnyheter Please use this guide and re-install the VC plugin: https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/
Thanks
Hi,
I have also tested this using the latest theme version and haven’t found any issues with this so please make sure that you also use the latest theme version then deactivate all plugins leaving just the Visual Composer plugins active then empty cache and also purge files if you use any CDN host services then check again.
Those features work based on js so any js conflict can cause this. You also have this js errors in your console: http://screencast.com/t/GHeDCTdidsG
Thanks
Success!
What worked was taking the advice on another thread about changing themes:
1. Change theme away from Newspaper (I used wordpress’s own TwentyFourteen).
2. Deactivate all plug-ins.
3. Clear all cache, esp the browser (I use Firefox)
4. Change them back to Newspaper.
5. Activate Visual Comoser plug-in first, then check home page in WordPress CMS and YES! it appears.
6. Activate plug-ins one by one and check Visual Composer is still there. The answer for me was: yes.
7. With all plug-ins re-activated, Visual Composer was back and all working OK.
Jeez, what a performance!
Cheers
Dave
1. I need to understand if I’m gonna have to install WordPress SEO plugin by yoast or if it has been implemented into NewsMag? and if yes, how do I know the keyword set, desc e.t.c.
2. I use POST to create content on my previous theme but since I bought newsmag, I found out that some functions like visual composer doesn’t work with POST, but before I start migrating, what is the best way to create content in newsmag, POST or PAGE? kindly elaborate…
Yes. You can ignore that.
1) the version included with theme is bundled version – please see the site docs which are super useful in understanding how to use this theme: (see link right side of this page!)
https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/
2) the version included with theme may not be the exact latest version, and so there may be times when you see a note that new version is available; however you cannot update as you don’t have a separate license, but a bundled license which is updated with each theme update. The bundled version does not need license, but is only updated with theme as it must be tested for compatibility with the theme custom functions and some custom modules.
UPSHOT: You can ignore the note about needing an update — you don’t have to update, it’s just telling you there is one.
The latest version for the theme, is found as part of the theme download on Theme Forest in the plugins folder for the theme.
(NOTE: TagDiv have tried to included code which stops the “nag” from appearing, but it doesn’t seem to always work, hence why you might or might not see notice about “update available.” But, see the theme docs!)
Just as FYI, you should delete *all* optional plugin you don’t use for *any/all* WordPress site(s). And don’t activate ANY plugins you don’t actually use (e.g., Jetpack, or Rev Slider – which had a notable security flaw prior to Spring 2014, but is *not* an issue with the version included with Newsmag!). Also evaluate “recommended” “suggested” and “required” as distinct different meanings with plugins that come bundled with themes.
Revolution Slider is a great plugin, used by all kinds of famous and large websites, as well as many WordPress sites. For some themes, it’s as popular as Visual Composer, as it’s one of the top such plugins to do fly-in words and slogans (which show up as SEO text on a home page, on top of images) and things that used to be done with FLASH; so it’s not “bad” inherently, but like all plugins has some caveats that one needs to keep up on and consider possible performance issues. It’s more commonly used with a business, ecommerce or corporate layout and not so much a magazine site. But, of course, not everybody who buys a magazine theme wants to actually do a magazine.
Yoast WordPress SEO has had some bugs from time to time. WordPress core has had major security flaws (one of our sites and Al Gore’s website got hacked the same day, back in the day before Automattic got “big” and became more security fanatical); technically WordPress 3.9x was hackable under certain circumstances.
But, I’ll take WP over Drupal any day of the week. I still chuckle when the folks who were making Drupal made such a big deal about open source, better than WordPress, we’ll change the world, etc., and then the “get Firefox” website running on Drupal was famously hacked and defaced. “Oh yeah, we should consider security, too.” … um, duh!
So, good idea to keep up to date on what is going on with plugins. Some are just maintenance releases (e.g., Visual Composer does update because everybody wants a module with blah + blah; doesn’t NEED to be installed). Some updates fix flaws or because a WP update BREAKS the pugin/theme/other plugins in some way (e.g., WP 4.1).
With WordPress – full dot revisions (3.9, 4.0, 4.1, 4.2) bring changes you should double check for plugin compatibility before commit. WP minor dot revisions almost always should be done (e.g., 4.01, 4.02, etc.) as these often have security patches and fixes, and this is easy to look at from the WordPress.org site on WHAT was updated.
Sorry, didn’t mean to get on a soapbox on Christmas morning. 🙂
Happy Holidays to all! 🙂
Hi,
Please check you widgets!!! because you have there incorrect codes, unclosed tags, see here http://screencast.com/t/tyFrl0PauczF and on your page are a lot of this issues. Probably that cause the issue.
For other related issues with Visual Composer ask on their support, we deliver the original plugin with no modification.
Hope this help!
Good morning, I would like to use the header type “Blog style – full text logo + menu” but I have a problem.
The logo is totally glued to the menu and visually not fit. The logo should have the same lower margin than the upper.
I tried the option “HEADER ALIGNMENT UP / DOWN” but does not work in this type of header.
How could put the same margin lower than the top? What I want is that the logo is centered.
I attached a screenshot.
The guide i did for moving from newspaper to newsmag also can be used for updating theme version and visual composer.
Hello!
I got a little problem with old and new post in the admin.
The problem here: http://www.screencast.com/t/P9qGAyQ6
I have deactivated few plugins and Visual Composer, nothing changed.
But when I back to Newspaper it’s gone, so maybe the problem come from Newsmag?
I use WordPress 4.1
Thank you!
Hi,
I bought the Newspaper theme 3 times and tried to update the visual composer. Unfortunately it always tells me that i have to insert envato username, api key and license key first. I used the license key that i received from You guys but it doesn’t get accepted.
What should I do in order to update the plugin or find a replacement?
Thanks!
Hi,
We’ve included the latest version of the plugin in the theme latest update, please use this guide – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/
Thank you, Emil G.
