When you add a text with tile in page builder(visual compose you can switch to classic editor and copy the shortcode. You can use that shortcode in a WP text widget, here are an example: [td_text_with_title custom_title="Test block" header_color="#237f33"]
Use that shortcode.

If you’re running IE11 on Win7/64, try using Chrome.
I have a lot of java and security based issues with IE on Windows.
If you’re not running IE, then sorry for the post.
Chrome works great on everything in 3.6 so far for me. I no longer use Firefox due to prior hacks allowed via insecure code in FF that has only taken 5 years to fix. IE11 “mostly” works, but then will just spin and spin.

Hi, I’m having several issues with the theme. My site is http://diariojudio.com
1.- In some pages I’m having a php error that says:

This happen when I insert content with visual composer. As soon as I add a single row, the page breaks. With the editor window blank or other content not from the composer the pages work well.
2. Front page slider does not rotate regardless setting a rotation time.
3. Categories menu won’t show up in blocks.
4. Megamenu layout broken. Categories show up above the grid instead of to the left.

PS: I am using Version 3.2 of the theme with 3.8 in WP and PHP 5.3

I was referring to Social Counter in the Visual Composer on the http://www.streethunters.net home page, not the Widget. I wasn’t clear enough, my mistake 🙂
The Visual Composer has a Social Counter option but that only let’s me use FB, TW and YT. This is the place I was referring too.

Hello! I’ve been using Newspaper since a while ago, on 5 sites and suddenly today one of them started to behave really oddly. When I go to the dashboard everything loads fine, but when I try to go to the posts page it takes forever to load, and when it does the post takes even longer.
When the post finally loads I cant insert images or anything, and the visual editor takes a long time to load to.
Also, every time I try to load the Theme Options panel it hangs for 1-2 minutes also, until it loads properly.
Any ideas? The installation is kept to minimum (9) plugin use and the problem persists even with no plugins active.

Yes, that’s what I did, I changed from “Featured” to “Destacado”.
When you open a block to edit its properties in Visual Composer, the Category Filter works fine, but “Featured” is still an option in “Sort order” dropdown list (img #1), so if you select from Category Filter: All Categories, posts belonging to the former featured category doesn’t show up on front page because category has been renamed an is no longer “Featured”. I love your theme. Since I set your theme, I have found that your theme is powerfull and have a lot features. However, I would like to ask about these:
1. How to make an auto resize for image in feature image and author box? Our image website not uniform in size.
2. How to make page that contain only listing author/contributor list? But the author page display profile from author. I had try to make page with visual composer then we use author page widget. The result is not displayed the profil from each author only displayed number of posts and contact info. And also, how to set the list, I mean, if I have 100 contributor, how to make author list that break into several pages.

we are aware of this, using Visual Composer will add shortcodes, and probably this is the reason way rss feed have problems.
please use Visual Composer only for the home page, until now we don’t have a solution for this problem.

I was searching about sticky posts and the Newspaper theme. I mean, if I mark a post as sticky in WP post editor, where is this post displayed or if the “sticky” status is used on the theme?
I know that the default Featured category is used to feature posts all over the theme, but if I want to stick a post, is this status still usable on the theme or do I have to make changes to display it?
I was trying to look for the sticky status option when configuring the blocks on visual composer, but I see none.

Hi, I have the same problem.
In fact, the problem is about the “Mobile Site View”. When you go on the web site with a computer or with a tablet, everything is correct, but when you go on the web site with a mobile, we automatically see the “mobile site view”.
As you can see on my first screenshot, my site doesn’t have the main menu (only the top menu), the slider and the image doesn’t appear and some wordpress shortcode code appear instead of the real visual.
As you can see on my second screenshot, at the bottom of the web site, it’s written “View Full Site”. Then, if you click on this link, you will see the real site view adapted for the mobile.
The problem is: when we go on the web site with a mobile, we automatically see mobile view instead of the full site view. It should be invert. We should see the full site view at first and at the bottom of the site, we could see the “View Mobile Site” link.
To be honest, I don’t even want to have the opportunity to see the mobile site view because it doesn’t work for me.
Also, just to give you more example, it is the same thing for Novaque:(his web site link is written on the top of the screenshot bellow.)

From previous themes I used it was pretty standard to stop a slider (“Slide” Block in Visual Composer) when moving with the mouse over the image to give someone time to read the content.
Do you have something similar?

Visual Composer has an add on plugin called Templatera that allows you to manage and edit templates used with Visual Composer. I bought this add on recently, but discovered that it is not fully compatible with Newspaper.
The add on does work. Albeit the Visual Composer editor does not show up in Templatera’s editor. Just the normal WordPress editor.
When I made a support request with the developer of Templatera, they said that the incompatibility is due to the theme not using the new method to integrate Visual Composer.
They suggested to contact the theme developer and ask to have Visual Composer be integrated using the new method outlined here: http://kb.wpbakery.com/index.php?title=Visual_Composer_Theme_Integration
Is this something can be done with a future update of Newspaper?

Also we want to update to latest version of Page builder and we will leave active all things from there.

Please also note that I am using shortcodes in the templates that are used by plugins I have installed. I also set my posts to the Video format. And I have modified the child theme CSS to add a top margin to P tags using this CSS code:
.format-video p {margin-top: 21px !important; padding-top:0 !important;}
From what I can see, when the second template gets adding, it removes the blank lines surrounding the text, and WordPress doesn’t format it automatically as a paragraph because of it.

I’ve just updated to the newspaper theme from a previous theme which had the latest version of visual composer installed as a plugin. Unfortunately the Newspaper theme uses an older version of VC doesn’t have some of the widgets I previously used. In particular the carousel slider isn’t present.
I understand that at at future date you are planning to update VC, which is cool, but right now I need a solution. The inbuilt revolution slider is overkill for just a simple slide-show, and adding most other WordPress plugins available I’ve checked out just adds code bloat and complexity. Therefore could you recommend a lightweight slider solution that would fit into your responsive theme, or is it worth waiting till the next update?

I am using 3.3 and I can confirm that shortcodes do not work for me in the visual editor if I use a Raw HTML Element. They do work if I use a Text Block.

I used those option:
'sort' => '' – this is for latest(default – no value)
'autoplay' => 1 – autoplay at 1 second
'category_ids' => '219, 311' – filter by multiple categories ID

Firstly I would like to thank you for the excellent theme. I am very new to WordPress, but the ease of use and simplicity of Newspaper has helped a lot.
I have a quick question, which is probably quite basic but, as I say, I’m new to all this.
When I create a home page with a set of blocks displaying articles, I can see how you can set it up to show certain posts, for example featured ones, or ones of a certain category. I understand this much. However, can you do the same for pages? What I would like to do is have some visual images on my home page which take me to other pages, such as a ‘reviews’ page, or an ‘about us’ page. I can do this as images with links, but it would be much neater to do it in the same way as posts, using featured images. Is this possible?
