Thank you very much for your help Amit. I have a couple follow up questions for you:
Can you walk me through the process of how you optimized that image? I’ve been trying to accomplish what you did, and I’d like to do it for a lot of images on my website but I’m having trouble with the workflow.
Second, I ran the Google PageSpeed Insights – https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.pinkluggageabroad.com%2F&tab=mobile and GT Metrix https://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.pinkluggageabroad.com/Sr5AsDfx and the image that you optimized is still highlighted on both. How can we run the tests so that is not included?
I appreciate your help. Thank you.

Hello !
We don’t really recommend plugins, what we normally do and suggest to users. First of all make sure that you are using a good host, that is the most important thing, Use a cloudflare, make sure you upload photos not to large not to small but preferably compressed, keep content easy, don’t fill your pages with unwanted plugins, pop-ups and etc.
You can easily see and test your website using GTMetrix and there you will see what can be improved.
Also make sure that Theme requirements are met and also take a look at our page speed tutorial here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
I hope this is helpful !
Thank you !
Hello !
DOM elements is all that you find in your website. You can see all the DOMs simply by inspecting your page. Also this doesn’t seem to be theme related since on GTmetrix you have 99 page speed. The network inspection seem to show that your host doesn’t work properly: https://www.screencast.com/t/Awv1yh2ji I’d suggest and changing the host and use a cloudflare.
Thank you !
Hi there!
Since the update to Newspaper X (which was AMAZING for my website’s speed by the way), Google Analytics does not measure the events (i.e. clicks) on the website anymore. Also, 404 pages aren’t indicated in the measurement tool anymore. Is there something I could do about this?
Warm regards,
Siebren

Thank you!
Hello,
The speed of your website depends on how well your site is optimized, if you follow the steps which are presented in this tutorial here -> https://tagdiv.com/how-to-increase-page-loading-speed/ you’ll be able to increase the speed of your website.
Also you can check this similar topic for more solutions: -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/optimize-script-to-improve-site-speed/

Thank you for your understanding!
Hi,
Lets start steep by steep,
this type of code will be display only if you are using the amp plugin, usually this code need to be set in head section of post/page, using only the amp plugin, you’ll need to use the “Transitional” option -> http://prntscr.com/pyf5d7, please check our documentation very carefully -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-amp-plugin-tutorial/ in this way you’ll have the classic amp, or you can use the mobile theme plugin and amp plugin and choose this option -> http://prntscr.com/pyf6e4 in this way you’ll have the mobile theme layout on amp and you’ll use only the amp without mobile theme, also you can set the auto amp ad in theme panel -> http://prntscr.com/pyf713 als if this is a new account then is possible to take some time until the ads will be approved for your website, until then these will not appear.
<amp-auto-ads type="adsense"
data-ad-client="ca-pub-#############">
</amp-auto-ads>
Also we recommend to use only flex elements and try to replace all the classic elements with flex elements and cloud elements, in this way you’ll achieve a better speed -> https://tagdiv.com/newspaper-theme-update-standard-pack-or-tagdiv-cloud-templates/
1. This can be possible only if you set an flex block with Auto Load for mobile and you hide it for the desktop and one with load more on desktop and hide on mobile theme.
2. If you want to have more control over the category page, then you can take a cloud category from tagDiv Cloud Library and edit it with tagDiv Composer
Yes, the Yoast SEO Plugin is compatible with our theme -> http://prntscr.com/pyfj2q
Thank you!
Hello !
First of all please note that Updates come with changes.
You want greater page speed you need to change. You said about speed, exactly that’s why the standard pack is there. Standard pack is made for the clients who want to have the benefit of update and keep their website as it was before.
If you want to be up to date you have to make adjustments. If you deactivate the Standard Pack plugin you are forced to use the Cloud Library which means your website will rely on shortcodes only which will provide a greater speed.
We are sorry for the inconveniences that you experience !
If you are experiencing any issues we are here to help, just let us know !
Thank you !
Hello – I’ve been working to improve my Google PageSpeed / GT Metrix scores and I had a couple questions on their suggestions. Here are the two reports that have been run:
https://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.pinkluggageabroad.com/iutRcr0C
1) Both services have advised me to optimize my images by compressing them. I’ve done that and removed the original larger files from my file library, but these images are still showing up on both reports and not improving my score. Here’s an example of an image that I optimized, deleted the original file from my file manager, emptied the trash and is still showing up on both reports: https://www.pinkluggageabroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/list-of-quirky-bars-1.jpg
2) Google PageSpeed suggests: “Consider lazy-loading offscreen and hidden images after all critical resources have finished loading to lower time to interactive”. I understand Newspaper has an option to lazy load all images, is there a way to lazy load just offscreen and hidden images?
3) Google PageSpeed for desktop suggests “Large GIFs are inefficient for delivering animated content. Consider using MPEG4/WebM videos for animations and PNG/WebP for static images instead of GIF to save network bytes”. This applies to these GIFs on my homepage https://www.screencast.com/t/n1vvrlINYN. I converted these to MPEG4 files but when I use TD composer to remove the GIF file and replace it with MPEG4, I cannot choose the MPEG4 file. Am I doing something wrong, or is there a workaround that you can suggest?
4) GT Metrix suggests “Leverage browser caching. Page load times can be significantly improved by asking visitors to save and reuse the files included in your website”. I’m currently using WP Super Cache, is there a setting that I can adjust to meet this suggestion?
5) GT Metrix suggests “2.2MiB of JavaScript is parsed during initial page load. Defer parsing JavaScript to reduce blocking of page rendering”. How would I do this?
6) GT Metrix suggests “The requests for the following URLs don’t fit in a single packet. Reducing the size of these requests could reduce latency” but when I click on those URLs, they bring me to a blank page – https://www.youtube.com/api/stats/playback?ns=yt&el=embedded&cpn=wOWKLXK0prCQLirl&docid=kO__C5pOyQo&ver=2&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fembed%2FkO__C5pOyQo%3Fautoplay%3D1%26loop%3D1%26mute%3D1%26showinfo%3D0%26controls%3D0%26start%3D2%26playlist%3DkO__C5pOyQo%26amp%3Bt%3D25s%26&cmt=0.797&ei=k1fRXc2XFIHmkgaf7I-gCA&fmt=244&fs=0&rt=0.448&of=GC6OCn1lTVgpgJyrp2hYjw&euri=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.pinkluggageabroad.com%2F&lact=15508&cl=280776138&mos=1&vm=CAEQABgEKiBKVmpsYXZfam82S0FEVWM4VUZzMThaRHE5dFpoWUdQVg&volume=100&c=WEB_EMBEDDED_PLAYER&cver=20191113&cplayer=UNIPLAYER&cbr=Chrome&cbrver=75.0.3770.100&cos=X11&autonav=1&autoplay=1&delay=4&hl=en_US&cr=US&len=110.321&fexp=23744176%2C23748146%2C23768780%2C23804281%2C23837040%2C23837772%2C23837993%2C23839361%2C23839597%2C23842630%2C23842986%2C23844999%2C23846545%2C23847168%2C23848795%2C23848871%2C23851771%2C23856652%2C23856867%2C23857013%2C23857013%2C23857493%2C23857850%2C23857850%2C23857949%2C23858319%2C23859128%2C23859212%2C23859427%2C23859929%2C24630404%2C9449243&rtn=6&feature=playlist&afmt=250&size=768%3A1365&inview=0.76 has a request size of 2.6KiB

Thank you for your help.
I understand that updating a theme can be difficult, but should it necessitate rebuilding the website?
We used your theme and page builder in confidence that moving forward TagDiv would continue to support those tools. We complained about speed, but were told that it was just us. We used the tools you provided, which you apparently now want us to stop using.
Now we (and many others) are faced with the following (and please correct me if I am wrong):
1) If we have used TagDiv Composer to build our site, we will have to rebuild any pages, headers or templates under the new theme because the short codes are put right into the text. For many, that is essentially rebuilding their entire website!
2) If we do not want to see all of the TadDiv short codes from Composer, we must use the Standard Plugin, which essentially returns the site to 9.8 compatibility and the same old CPU/speed problems.
3) I cannot see (and I have looked) how upgrading to 10 from 9.8 would benefit someone currently using your theme? There is no comparison on your website to show the benefits of the upgrade. There is nothing to recommend updating except the dubious honor of rebuilding your website.
Are there major security patches?
Is it needed for 5.3 compatibility?
Will 9.8 continue to receive security/other patches?
4) TagDiv Newspaper 9 is not a fast theme, there is unneeded JS running creating CPU cycles where there doesn’t need to be. The code just isn’t clean. This may be due to legacy code but I’ve had conversations with TagDiv before this related to speed and was always assured that the theme was fast, it was just my site was slower. Now I will quote the truth from your website:
Deactivate Standard Pack for blazing fast-websites. To gain page loading speed for your website, you’ll need to deactivate the Standard Pack plugin. This step will separate the templates (pages, singles, headers, footer) you’ve created or imported from the tagDiv Cloud Library from the ones built inside the Newspaper theme panel. All of the default templates from the theme and some of the elements from the tagDiv Composer will be disabled by deactivating the Standard Pack.
5) So, by running the standard pack we are negating any reason to update. The 9 theme was causing websites to be slower and by deactivating all of those features you spent so much time creating and selling to us in 9, we essentially slowed our sites down. The solution? Upgrade to 10 and turn off the Standard Pack Plugin. Which brings up the following…
4) Deactivating the Standard Pack plugin will cause any site that has modified any part of the Newspaper theme using the TagDiv Composer to show up as short codes and break the site completely.
I will again quote from your site:
For example, your website uses one of the default headers from the theme panel, and you deactivate the Standard Pack, your header will be displayed as a series of text and symbols on the frontend.
Guys, you screwed up. It’s pretty obvious to those of us who used your theme and if you can’t see it then that’s on you, and your inability to remain customer focused and customer centric.
• In 9 you introduced a bunch of cool toys, showed us how to use them and set us loose.
• These toys introduced a bunch of extra code that slowly but surely slowed our sites and caused excessive CPU cycles on our servers. (for those of us who pay for SPU usage, this not only slows our sites but eats into our pocketbooks)
• In 10 you back tracked and told us to turn OFF the cool toys you gave us to make the site run faster. Ah, but if you do that then your site will break, affording you the “opportunity” to rebuild your site.
Unless you can be upfront with us and admit you made a mistake and are now trying to fix it the reasons to continue using Newspaper become nearly non-existent.
(and yes, to all of you out there who know “all of the things”, these conclusions were discovered using a test site which has been wiped and copied several times to come to the place we are today)
I’m an independent and my time is money. I can’t charge my clients for upgrading their websites can I now? When the recommendation to go with one of the most popular themes in use came from me?
As a test, I’m going to delete Newspaper and scrub it’s existence from one site. Then install a flexible, fast page-builder friendly theme and rebuild that client’s website to see what the difference is and how long it takes. I’m going to guess between 30 – 40 hours of my time. I guess we’ll see what the end result is…
Where do I send the bill? (rhetorical question I know)
Hi,
I do not see the problem with search icon, please provide some screenshots with this problem.
So the mobile theme plugins provide better speed but will change the website layout on mobile, also on page you need to set a new content without builders, you can check more in our documentation from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/
The AMP plugin that is use with our theme do not have a template, so you need to use the mobile theme plugin, in this way you’ll have the mobile theme layout, you can check more about this in our article from here -> https://tagdiv.com/amp-newspaper-theme/
The amp ad
<amp-auto-ads type=”adsense”
data-ad-client=”ca-pub-##############”>
</amp-auto-ads>
Need to be set in amp ads -> http://prntscr.com/pxcbbk
Thank you!
Hello !
We have inspected your website on desktop and mobile devices as well. Now the sticky header seems to work fine.
Indeed there seems to be a problem with the header loading when refreshing the page but that looks to be a slow host or loading time. In order to improve your page we recommend firstly testing your page using GTMetrix.
Please make sure that all the settings are like in our requirements, please follow the guide carefully
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
and please increase all requirements that are lower, and follow all steps.
You can also follow our page speed tutorial: https://tagdiv.com/how-to-increase-page-loading-speed/
Thank you !
Hi,
My website is very slow for a few days now. I used Query Monitor and found that what make it very slow is postmeta. I need help with the optimization. Page could take up to 70 seconds to load.
Hello !
Sorry for missleading you.
So:
1. From Newspaper 9 to Newspaper 10 there have been some changes in the core of the theme so some files got moved from place to place. If you do not manually delete the theme before upgrade the install will overwrite the old install and that can produce a conflict.
2. If you want to keep the same looks of your website simply activate standard pack and eerything will be good to go but if you want to convert to the PRO version which will bring more speed to your website then you will have to deactivate the standard pack and adjust or re-desing the appearance of your website.
I hope this was more helpfull !
Thank you !
Hello !
If you have adjusted your website to PRO templates or cloud templates then you can freely disable the standard pack. There is no other place to see the improvement on your website except those 2 that I would say that are the best page speed testers.
Thank you !
I’m not sure I understand. It says here (https://tagdiv.com/newspaper-theme-update-standard-pack-or-tagdiv-cloud-templates/):
“To make the transition from 9.8 to Newspaper 10 with Cloud templates, you need to ensure you gradually and smoothly remove the dependencies. Please read this, don’t scan. Failing in removing dependencies prior to deactivating the Standard Pack will break your website.
If your website uses any of the templates present there, you must replace it with its equivalent from the tagDiv Cloud Library.
We’ve made it easy for you and recreated them. Every template from the theme panel already exists in the tagDiv Cloud Library. It should be easy to find the one that’s closer to your brand and import it on your website. Customize it using tagDiv Composer and assign it to replace the existing one.
You must find and replace templates until you’ve completed the process. Then simply deactivate the Standard Pack, and you are ready for speed and performance.”
Doesn’t that mean I can now go into the Home page in ‘Pages’ and my other pages in Cloud Templates and swap the current header, blocks etc with I guess ones from the Cloud Library? Like I said above, you guys really need a guide on how to do this properly. It’s a little confusing.
Hello,
Please make sure that all the settings are like in our requirements, please follow the guide carefully
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
and please increase all requirements that are lower, and follow all steps.
You can also follow our page speed tutorial: https://tagdiv.com/how-to-increase-page-loading-speed/
We test the websites using GTMetrix, you can do it too and see what can be improved on your website.
Thank you !
I did backup back because I lost also some content by update.
my questions
1. I install a demo with content, then delete all its contents (posts, pages, categories etc.) and place my content in their place (posts, pages, categories etc.) and if i create a website with a demo , then it might cause me a problem later? (And can I do it this way)
2. Can my website speed improve if done this way?
3. If I uninstall the demo after doing it this way, can the content of my website be deleted?
4. If uninstall does not delete the content, then the settings that I will do in the demo will be changed on uninstall?
5. If I do this, can I have any problem in updating the theme in future?
Please give answer to all questions, it is very important for me
Hi, the problem is that after I updated Newspaper 9 to Newspaper X the website is slower. How is that possible???
You can check the images of speed before update:
You can check the images of speed after update:
– Desktop is the same as it was before…
It seems that maybe is something wrong with the setting in WP, or some plugin like WP Super cache? You tell me? What can I change in the settings of WP?
Yes and I know that I dont have cloudflare, but still cannot be slower that it was before…
Hello !
We are sorry for the inconvenience !
Updates mean, and especially big ones like this transition from 9 to 10 can be a bit tricky and again, we are sorry for that.
First of all, the proper way to update the theme is via ftp or wordpress. You have to deactivate and remove the tagDiv Product ( Newspaper Theme & tagdiv plugins ). Don’t worry your data won’t be lost because all the informations that are on your website ( theme option, posts, etc) are stored in the database of your host.
! Important ! As a web developer I’ve learned that everytime you make an update, no matter what theme you use, what plugin or no matter how small of the update is you MUST have backup and a test site ( local host, live host, doesn’t matter ).
– The Standard pack: A pack that has the functionality of ” keeping alive ” the layout that have been until 9.8. Without standard pack you will have to move on the PRO layouts. The pro layouts DO offer greater speed. Also speaking of speed, a page speed is influenced by multiple factors like ( plugins, content, themes, etc. ) so sometimes you should not have great expectation of page speed if your website is for example full of videos who request urls from external links…
So if you want to have the website like before and do no changes on the design you will have to use standard pack.
Also for the ones who want to revert back to 9.8 we have made it public for all on this topic: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/action-required-please-read-how-to-update-to-the-newspaper-theme-v-10/
The ones who are facing issues even with a proper update procedure please contact us via email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide the following:
– admin url and credentials
– cPanel url and credentials
– A link to this topic in order to identify you
I hope this was more helpfull !
Thank you !
Hello !
You can see those results by going into gtmetrix and test your website. Also please note that speed is not only directed by the theme. There are multiple factors like plugins, external links, host etc… which can affect your page speed.
Thank you for your understanding !
