Hello there,

I’m trying to integrate your theme with WPML. The issue I’m facing is that your Tagdiv editor is not working with the plugin. I can only see the unreadable editor code.

Here’s a screenshot of the error:
https://cninuae.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Tagdiv-error.jpg

The other issue is home pages are not appearing for the respective languages.

Similar issue is reported at WPML’s website: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/tagdiv-newspaper-theme-pages-made-with-tagdiv-composer-just-not-editable/

I tried that fix by copying the xml text both in their xml settings as well as copying the xml file to plugin’s root folder but to no avail.

Can you please help me out with that?

Hi,

That website is using the WPML plugin, this will allow the creation of a multi-language website. With it you can translate pages and posts. Some info about it here
https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/create-multilingual-wordpress-websites-using-the-newspaper-theme-and-wpml/
https://wpml.org/documentation/

Thanks

Hi,

1) Yes, the Newspaper 9.5 it is compatible with WPML.

Updating from newspaper 4 is no longer considered an update. It will be exactly like switching to a new theme. There have been so many changes since then that the current version is practical a new theme compared to newspaper 4. You can simply delete the old theme and install newspaper 9 just as a new theme and re-create your pages and widgets.

Thank you for your understanding!

Hello,

I currently have the version of your theme installed:
Theme Name: Newspaper
Version: 4.6.3

I stopped updating due to problems with plug-ins, but now I’m considering upgrading to version 9.5.

This surely means having many problems and having to fix many things, but the first doubts are:

1) 9.5 is compatible with WPML?

2) If it is not compatible how languages are managed?

3) There is some “semi-automatic” procedure that facilitates the migration of 4.6.3. to 9.5?

Thank you,

Calin

Hi,

Unfortunately we text only the WPML plugin with our theme
Using the theme translations together with WPML -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/using-theme-translations-together-wpml/

Thank you for your understanding!

Hi

We recently installed mobile theme. We are using WPML. The mobile theme only works on English page..com/en/ but it doesnt work on the default language page. Is this plugin not compitable with wpml?

It is working on the english page but partly, we can only see the lastest articles section not top grid – displays 3 featured posts (posts included in the Featured category)

Thanks

Hello Guys

I hope you are doing well and are having a great new year!

We have recently started facing issues with the category URLs for the category pages created on TD composer and otherwise coded.

We had created category pages using the TD composer and added then to the menu. We also assigned the templates to the respective categories using the theme panel.

http://prntscr.com/mky7v9

This seems to work if there is one level category as in the URL for the category shows like

url is https://www.joshtalks.com/joshkosh/career/

However wherever there is a subcategory the URL is that of the template 🙁

https://www.joshtalks.com/joshkosh/tdb_templates/interview-kaise-dein/

Which should be

https://www.joshtalks.com/joshkosh/career/naukri-chahiye/interview/

This link redirects to the category template again.

This is a bilingual website using WPML (Compatible plugin)

Now we had already have an issue with incompatibility between WPML and cloud templates. The issue is that we cannot assign category templates to translation languages as in there is no option in theme settings> categories> per category settings.
http://prntscr.com/mkyf3k

We had opened a ticket with support and you were quite helpful saying that this issue will be looked into

https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/cant-see-translated-cloud-library-template-in-per-category-settings/

WPML support was also very helpful and said that they are in touch with the Tagdiv compatibility team and this is in process.

https://wpml.org/forums/topic/errors-in-tagdivi-composer-due-to-wpml-newspaper-theme-issues-with-wpml/

So meanwhile we decided to code the pages in the category settings.

http://prntscr.com/mkyicf

However this is running into major issues with the category URLs. The primary categories are all right
https://www.joshtalks.com/joshkosh/hi/%E0%A4%B8%E0%A4%B0%E0%A4%95%E0%A4%BE%E0%A4%B0%E0%A5%80-%E0%A4%A8%E0%A5%8C%E0%A4%95%E0%A4%B0%E0%A5%80/

However the sub categories are acting very weird and redirecting to random pages or showing a 404

https://www.joshtalks.com/joshkosh/hi/%E0%A4%95%E0%A4%B0%E0%A4%BF%E0%A4%AF%E0%A4%B0/%E0%A4%A8%E0%A5%8C%E0%A4%95%E0%A4%B0%E0%A5%80-%E0%A4%9A%E0%A4%BE%E0%A4%B9%E0%A4%BF%E0%A4%8F/

This seems to be very odd and so we decided to try the basics

Updated the theme to 9.5 and the plugins too
System status us all Green
Disabled all plugins and it’s not a plugin issue especially not a WPML issue

We are kind of struggling with this. I would really appreciate if you could let us know if we are doing something wrong 🙁

Ashutosh

Yes, thank you. It helped to solve the problem. But another problem appear. I use multilingual website using your theme and WPML plugin which must be compatible 100%.

On smartphones first language version of website works good too, but when user change language to another – he see the same problem with only part of content (only Related articles) as when tagDiv mobile theme plugin was turned on… My website has next structure:
https://websitename.com/ – first language content website version
https://websitename.com/de – second language content website version

WHy this happens? What do you think? I tried to switch off CDN and cache plugin but it didnt help to resolve this problem with second language website interface.

Hi,

@geor_ro
If the translation plugin has an option to translate menus that is possible. For example with WPMLhttps://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-menus/

This plugin has an option to translate the menu, so when the language is switched a different menu will be displayed. You could check in the documentation of the plugin you are using for translation.

Thanks

So you want the flag icons to be closer together? Maybe like this
http://prntscr.com/md4zwp
I could modify it if it doesn’t work properly or you wanted something different

.sf-menu .menu-item-wpml-ls-85-hr > a {
padding-right: 5px;
}
.sf-menu .menu-item-wpml-ls-85-en > a {
padding-left: 5px;
margin-right: 18px;
}

Let me know.

Hi,

If it applies successfully then the selected strings should appear on top of the list, or in the drop-down as in my case – http://prntscr.com/md4sba
You could make a quick test to see if the same happens while having only theme plugins and WPML active.
If it does, I could take a look. Send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login. Include a link to this topic in the email.

Thanks

Hi,

Currently the sub-footer will not be displayed if a footer page is displayed, maybe this will change in the future. Sorry for the inconvenience.

You can set the widgets in the footer to be displayed per language
http://prntscr.com/mc31hy
The footer page can be changed per language – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/translation-of-footer-pager-does-not-work/

Let me know if you have more questions.

Hi,

Is the success message displayed when you clock apply after you select the strings?
http://prntscr.com/mc0i4j
They should appear if there is no error, as in my test – http://prntscr.com/mc0jl9

If there is an error such as this one – http://prntscr.com/mc0g3b then the strings will not be added. This is caused in most cases by a low value for the max_input_vars parameter
http://prntscr.com/mc0kl5
A value of 10000 should fix it, it did for me – https://wpml.org/forums/topic/cant-add-string-for-translation-from-admin-strings/

Thanks

Hi,

You could first try to check if that plugin is actually causing the problem, if it is then you could consider to try other translation plugins if possible.

We tested the WPML plugin with the theme, other translation plugins may or may not work properly.

Thanks

I’ve added this code in footer:
if ( td_util::get_option( ‘tds_sub_footer’ ) != ‘no’ ) {
td_api_sub_footer_template::_helper_show_sub_footer();
}
And now subfooter display again.
How to translate it with WPML?
Thank you

Hello,

I have a bilingual site and I am using WPML to translate. I have translated all the values I need except one.

I was able to translate the title of a “tagDIV block 1” a couple months ago and then recently tried to translate the “td_filter_default_txt” but was unable to. I can see the in the “WPML translate text in the admin screens” the field with the value I want to translate and when I check it and hit the Apply button it doesn’t show up in the String translations.

I did some testing and found that when I add a standard WordPress widget I can still translate using this method. I created new “tagDIV block 1” and “tagDIV block 7” widget then go to “WPML translate text in the admin screens” area and check off the custom title and/or the filter default text, hit apply, and they never show up as option in the String translation area.

I have not updated WPML or the Newspaper theme since I had first translated the title of a “tagDIV block 1”. Can you please help me figure out what might be the problem?

Thanks.

Hi Calin,

Yes, I do have the WPML setting: different domain per language. So the htaccess change will not solve this?

Best regards

Hi Calin,

Thanks for your reply.

System status for the original language: everything is green. But: I have WPML setup to have a different domain per language.

So, original language is Dutch which is on a .nl domain.
The secondary language is English, which can be reached on the .com domain (a domain pointer has been set in the server)

When I go to the .com domain, everything is fine. It reaches the English page.

The issue is with the loading of the TD Composer for the secondary language. Could this be the problem: https://prnt.sc/mak1rx ?

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Please make sure that the theme system status is configured as mentioned in the requirements guide. Please follow the guide carefully
https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
and please increase all requirements that are lower, and follow all steps.

WP_MEMORY_LIMIT try to increase it to a value of double you already have if possible.

Please add this code in the .htaccess , file at the end of the file:
<IfModule mod_substitute.c>
SubstituteMaxLineLength 10M
</IfModule>

I believe you have installed the WPML Translation Management plugin
https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/page-builders/

Our page builder will encode the page content so translating a page with this module would not be possible. Maybe this will change in the future, can’t say for sure what will happen. Sorry for any inconvenience.

The alternative is to switch the pages when the language is changed.

For example I have this page in a language – https://www.screencast.com/t/wUVMxwx6qlV
Clicking on the translate option will open a new page which you can build
https://www.screencast.com/t/yWKrq5fBxTI

Thank you.

Hi there,

I have an existing website using the great Newspaper theme. Now we want to add an additional language (English) so I installed WPML.

I copied the homepage including the content to English version. When I go into the new English homepage and switch to the TD Composer, it keeps loading and loading: https://prnt.sc/mahduy

Then I get this message: https://prnt.sc/mahdhk

Why is the TD Composer not working on the translated page?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Hi,
i have a problem similar to that

In Newspaper > Theme Panel
In Footer > Footer Page ( or in Post settings > Post template and so on … )

I have set a Page (‘footer’ create with tagdiv composer in Page section) as footer page, and when i go to an article for edit, the settings reset

Another problem is that i can’t set the Post Template for the translated Page
This problem makes the functionality of the Theme unusable for translated articles with WPML

Hi,

I checked this issue on the website, seems that when the English language is selected the “turkiye_en” doesn’t load any posts. There seems to be one post in this category
https://ankasam.org/en/category/regions/turkiye_en/
This post should appear in the mega-menu if it belong to the respective category. Is is strange that only that category has this kind of problem.

I would suggest as a first step, as a quick test, to deactivate all plugins except theme plugins and WPML, then clear all caching and force refresh the website page (Ctrl+Shift+R), then check if the post is displayed in the menu. Could be plugin interference.

Thanks
