It depends on how you implemented the custom link. If you added it as a menu item then simply use the wordpress menus section. If you use the mobile theme you also have to add it to the mobile menu. If you do not use the mobile theme plugin, the menu is the same one on all devices.

We do not see 2 avatars on our end. You could be facing with a plugin compatibility issue caused by other plugins. Please revert your custom modifications (make a back-up before) and disable all other plugins except visual composer and buddypress, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Then test again. Those are visual composer shortcodes you are seeing. I cannot see the error on your site though. I do see a plugin conflict as your mega menu will not open due to a js error. Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files.
Unfortunately I do not see the shortcodes on your page not in desktop and not in mobile.

You can create the tab without actually importing the demo. You need to simply add the class to the element as it seems in the current version the css from the black version is not needed anymore as the tab css is already present in the main style.css:

I understand your frustration but these are 2 very different elements. The theme adds a top bar and wordpress ads another. Buddypress created their code to add the element to the wordpress top bar, not the theme top bar as buddypress is a plugin created specifically for wordpress not specifically to our theme. The implementation you need is to move the default buddypress element to a theme element. There is no pre-made solution for this. It will have to be made custom. We have not tested this so there is no simple copy paste solution I can provide. Customization services fall beyond what the theme support can offer you.
