Please try to make a new clean install from scratch with the latest version of the theme and also, only with the plugins that come bundled with the theme packet and rule out any conflicting plugins. Please keep in mind that all the layout and functionalities which are found in this demo have been made using the theme features. I suggest you install the Scandal demo with the content and then you should check the homepage structure and you will see what kind of blocks has been used in that demo. Notice that each demo has an own style and if you want to replicate one of them from scratch it will be pretty hard to do that. You should follow my advice and try to spend more time to understand how it was built.

I guess that you are referring to the block, right?
