I have a problem with the premium Plugin Sabai. There is a conflict with the Newsmag Theme.
I can’t click on the tabs which are made from this plugin. My site is not public now so here is a screenshot of the tabs and a link to the official demo where you can find the tabs.
I contacted the support of the plugin, but they can’t find the bug. So they wrote me:
we’re not able to locate the code that is causing the issue. Can you contact the theme developer which code we should be looking and possibly a fix for the issue?
Can you help us?
For some reason when I tried to move a block in one of the section up higher than it was after saving it the whole layout got messed up and for some reason even tho 1/1 is selected on the layout of that element the widgets/blocks don’t stretch out the way they’re supposed to.
Then when i click on the layout option tab 1/1 is select but so is 2/3 + 1/3 and the 1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3 option and I can’t deselect any of them for some reason. Anybody know how to fix this?

Hello, is it possible to create text widgets with a possibility to chose Header Color? (like you have for [tagDiv] Blocks)
I really love this feature, they look REALLY REALLY great, but I do not use any of those blocks, so all of my widgets have same header color 🙁

Yeah. You would have to manually modify the blocks to use the same sizes in all the blocks, which seems to be a bit of a pain as you’d need to redo that with each theme upgrade.
But if you just used ONE module/block with square thumbs and used only that it might work, but not very exciting. I think with all square images you’d also end up with some blank space in blocks, etc.
Likely doing a mockup image to post here might help the tech support folk get a better idea of what you’re hoping to do and whether it’s possible or not.
Obviously with the wide blocks if you made the wide image square it would either be more narrow, or taller to be square, and with vertical it would break the box layout since it would be too wide, so it would be half as tall to keep same width.
My head hurts on that 😉
Thanks Chris, to be more specific, my problem is that it seems to be shrinking the images so there are horizontal thumbs, vertical thumbs, etc. What I’d like is consistently square thumbs, so changing module/block sizes doesn’t seem like it would fix it?

Best way to do that easily is only use ONE module/block size on your home page and sidebar.
And also set the three small/medium/large sizes on the wp > settings > media page to not create additional un-needed sizes.
Obviously if you use a block/module with different size, it needs to build and load different size thumbs; but you *can* edit blocks if you want, just not simple.

There is no option within the theme to specifically select posts to be added to a widget or block so you need to set a tag to those posts you need inside that widget then use the tag filter to get those posts to the widget.

You have to look at the current code structure inside the Big Grid files and modify it the way you like – http://screencast.com/t/VjelAp3IER , there’s a function that determines what images are brought into the page – http://screencast.com/t/jaPCGFL6 you can start with it and the modify the rest of the elements. Ultimately you have to rewrite the css.
It’s not an easy task, you basically have solid html/php/css knowledge.
Our support doesn’t include custom modifications, we can only provide guidance, help for theme related issues and eventually solutions on smaller modifications, sorry.

If you refer to the thumb images that don’t look right, like in this two cases: http://screencast.com/t/I0dX14CbP then please note that this happens because of the cropping function and to somehow avoid this you could an image near to the aspect ration of the thumbs in which you want it to look well. Also note that if you decide to change some thumbnails sizes you’ll need to regenerate thumbnails again in order to apply changes.

I don’t have “page builder with article lists” in my template? I have “Default Template” “Pagebuilder + Latest articles + Pagination” and “Pagebuilder + Page Title”?
I’m hoping I can fix the images touching without adding any CSS code to any files. You can see where block 13 and 14 are touching on the homepage. Any way to fix that without adding code?
Also, I have block 6 on the sidebar when it stops on block 14 how do I add an ad below block 14? Been messing around with it and it must be so stupid simple I can’t figure it out..? What size ad is best for the side bar? 300×300? Or?

The default for the Block is “Limit post number: 5”. Changing to 6 for me corrected this.
I think that is going to be quite complicated since you’d also need to setup the thumbnail sizes.
I think you can create your own custom Visual Composer layouts, but that is not part of the theme and might be addressed to VC support as modifying Visual Composer layouts is related to the plugin and not the theme directly.
So you can EDIT the code to create your own block from scratch (support can’t do that for you) …
basically you would create your own code, shortcode, and then add the custom shortcode to the system …
there are some mentions of this in the forum for newspaper and newsmag such as this which might give you starting point:

But generally you need to wait until support has a free moment to help you “hack” the theme outside of normal support and how it was designed. Hacking the theme isn’t normal support, but as available support, so please allow them a little time to figure out whether what you’re asking is doable or not without breaking the theme.
Do you know how to create the new shortcode, new VC code, and ready to create new thumbnail sizes and put that in functions files, etc.? It’s not a simple answer.
So, if you do have the edited code already to go which you’ve built, just hang on a bit and they will get back to you as soon as they can 🙂
