Hi,

The mobile version is look like that because you have the mobile theme plugin that provide you a better speed then responsive version of theme, but in order to achieve that speed you’ll need to create a new content for pages because in the most of cases those were made with builders ( tagDiv Composer, WPBakery ) and you need to use only the mobile editor ( you need to set the content for pages in mobile editor and this content will be display on mobile theme)
-> https://www.screencast.com/t/ebUIzt4se

Mobile Theme: Automatic Optimization for Mobile with Newspaper Theme -> https://tagdiv.com/mobile-theme-automatic-optimization-for-mobile-newspaper-theme/

Also for the 3 blocks, you’ll need to have set same feature posts (that have set feature category) -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-posts-2/ -> https://www.screencast.com/t/QsJ6ppY4

If you want the responsive version and amp you should use this opinion -> https://www.screencast.com/t/jZct5ueBqOrb but if you have amp activate on pages you’ll need to create in Mobile editor a content for AMP version of page.

If you do not have the featured category, you’ll need to add some posts in feature category -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-posts-2/ if you do not have this category you can create it, just make sure that you set the category name to be
Featured

Hi, I just found this via search and tried to apply it. I don’t see ‘show modified’ option in my theme panel.

My theme panel options for Meta Info on Modules/ Blocks:

Any suggestion? I am running the latest version of the theme.

My system status does not indicate anything off right now. The PHP Version is 7.3.5, the max_execution_time is properly set, the max_input_vars is at 5000, and SUHOSIN is not installed.

The WP Memory Limit is properly set, and WP_DEBUG is false.

The issue is not that settings are not being saved. It is that the “Thumbs on Modules/Blocks” menu item in that screenshot cannot be opened at all. I do not even see the settings underneath that option. Otherwise, I can open all other menu options, and properly Save Settings.

Hi,

Something is quite wrong there, the HTML is not right. Did you by any chance make modifications to the post template files? What if you set a different sidebar with a simple element in it like a block widget for example, for a post as a test, does the same happen then?

If you already tried this and the problem remains, send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin access so we can take a closer look.

Thanks

Hi,

1. Please make sure that you clear all cache after you set the url for social BLOGGER -> https://www.screencast.com/t/1RT3BFZesg -> https://www.screencast.com/t/ZGk4BdzmIX7

2. I will note your suggestion with PlayStore on our list of suggestion for social media.

3. That effect is set only on big grid (style – Lightsky -> https://www.screencast.com/t/BA3NnNs4kOEa ), if you want to use it on others blocks too, you’ll need to use a custom css.

4. I think that popup comes from a plugin, our theme do not have this option for popup email, sorry!

Thank you!

It is quite fast indeed. Those suggestions should work from what I can find online, maybe try and search for more topics with suggestions and try others. We don’t have a guide at the moment that I can provide for the font issue.

Also be sure to try some render blocking improvements where possible
http://prntscr.com/np9skx
Also try and fix the mixed content issues with the images used in the logos and the favicon – http://prntscr.com/np9tte

Hi,

As far as I know block 3 has always used module 1 – https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-blocks-modules/
Module 1 requires this thumbnail size – http://prntscr.com/np90m0 If this size is not enabled there should be a placeholder image – http://prntscr.com/np91io
If I misunderstand please let me know.

Thanks

Hello !

Having the menu on single row without using a cloud template will not be possible since the font and size are litteraly too big for the menu. If you’d be using a cloud template menu you could stretch the menu.

Unfortunately you cannot set the posts by release date.

To filter what to you want to be displayed on your block you simply click on them using the tagDiv Composer and go to the filter tabs.

Thank you !

Hello !

Unfortunately this requires custom work and is not covered by the support policy: https://forum.tagdiv.com/support-policy-2/

Ussualy we do not offer custom work but this would be the exception we will do in order to fix your page. Please take note that in the future custom works requires a lot of skills and the best way would be to hire a freelancer to help you implement everything you want on your page. Here is a better example of how your code should look like in order to work:

<?php
if(pmpro_hasMembershipLevel(array(‘1′,’2’))){?>
<div class="td-header-rec-wrap">
<?php
$tds_header_ad_title = td_util::get_option('tds_header_title');
// show the header ad spot
echo td_global_blocks::get_instance('td_block_ad_box')->render(array('spot_id' => 'header', 'spot_title' => $tds_header_ad_title)); ?>
</div>
<?php
}
?>

Please read the support policy and take note about the custom work.

Thank you !

When I go to Newspaper > Theme Panel > Block Settings, and I click on “Thumbs on Modules/Blocks”, the box does not open at all. It constantly indicates that it’s loading, like so:

I wanted to access this menu to enable the thumbnails required for Related Articles, however I am unable to load the menu at all. I should note that this is the only menu that does not open: “Category tag on Modules/Blocks” and “More info on Modules/Blocks” both open fine.

The Newspaper version installed is the latest, 9.7.2. I’ve tried disabling all of my plugins.

I’m unsure if it’s related, but Site Health indicates the following critical errors:

– The REST API encountered an error
– Your site could not complete a loopback request

With the following message for both: “Error: [] cURL error 60: SSL certificate problem: self signed certificate in certificate chain.” Updating the version recently, I had to manually install the plugins because this error caused the dashboard updates to not work.

My hosting service looked into it, and concluded that this could have something to do with the Newspaper theme (the site is running the latest version of PHP).

In case anyone stumbles onto this… There is no way to customize without risking changes being overwritten when TD pushes updates.

Hi,

Most of the theme files were moved into the tagDiv Composer plugin as per the requirements of Envato: https://help.author.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000472383-WordPress-Theme-Requirements, as we wrote an article on that subject. In the future, if you need to make some changes over those core files, you need to check the files from here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/Pu345nqP If you need more assistance in this case, please open a new topic at our support forum from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/forum/newspaper/

Thank you!

So does this mean that you have to edit the core plugin files directly!? I have made changes to the footer and various part of site through child theme template customizations, how are these suppose to be added now without editing the core plugin files?

Example. I have a child theme and have

childtheme/parts/footer/td_footer_template_14.php

I have added an above footer widget area to this file, and now this is gone. How would I re-add this functionality?

Hi,

We wrote an article on the subject here: https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/
Moving forward with such requirements, a child theme will only work with functions.php, and style.css, as there are very few files left in the main theme as Envato, requires all functionality to be added through plugins. From now on, if you want to make some changes over the footer theme templates, you need to edit the code from here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/RqUdpKc8 Also, if you need more assistance in this case, please open a new topic at our support forum from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/forum/newspaper/

Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for understanding!

That does not help at all. What happens when you update the TD Composer plugin? All of the updates that were done to those would be replaced.

This is NOT going to work for continuous development using the Newspaper theme.

There are ways to incorporate locate_template() within a plugin so that you can still maintain the functionality of overriding core templates.

This is not an inconvenience this is a DEAL BREAKER for utilizing this theme going forward with new clients, the flexibility and customization of this theme just went from 90% down to 0%.

Catalin L.Catalin L. May 14, 2019 at 7:53 am
Hi,

The Newspaper theme update brings a change for the customers that use WP Bakery Page Builder with our Theme: when you’ll be updating to the Newspaper 9.7.2 version, you’ll need to activate the tagDiv Composer to keep the Newspaper theme functionality you’ve previously used. Otherwise, you will have basic WordPress functionality, complying with Envato WordPress Requirements – https://help.author.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000472383-WordPress-Theme-Requirements.
Please note that activating the tagDiv Composer doesn’t mean that you are required to use our custom page builder on your website. You can use the WP Bakery page builder as you did before the update. We recommended you to do not use the tagDiv Composer and WP Bakery page builders on the same page though, because you cannot edit with WP Baker blocks and shortcodes created with tagDiv Composer or vice-versa. Regarding your customizations, if you have made and have affected some of the theme core files when you will make the theme update, all of these files will be overwritten. You need to make a full backup and then, all these customizations should have to be implemented again to the core files.

Thank you!

AvatarMatt Pramschufer May 14, 2019 at 9:19 pm
Catalin,
Your response has nothing to do with the issue I proposed. I did not say anything about WP Bakery.

The theme has no hooks at all to implement customizations on a plugin level, and now the functionality of customizing page/post templates has been removed without introducing a new method to make those customizations.

Your answer of just “hack the core files” is absurd. You can not really believe that your customers are going to think this “cowboy coding” way is going to fly in 2019?

Is there someone on your development team or someone higher up that you could connect me to?

I have built out over 20 media publications using the Newspaper theme, all of which have customizations. If I make changes to the TD Composer plugin and you push out an update, it is only a matter of time before all of those customizations are lost.

Catalin L.Catalin L. May 15, 2019 at 8:12 am
Hi,

Sorry for the inconvenience! In your case, if this update will affect your websites, the best solution is to keep the old theme version (9.1) for them. This can be downloaded from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/important-new-update-newspaper-9-7/ Please notice that we try doing our best and where we find a way for this case, we will make an update with this, sorry! At the moment, there is no such thing, sorry!

Thank you!

Hi

the main block (with featured article) doesn’t load or load slowly
Can you help me identify the issue?

Hi Vlad,

Just want to make sure I’m following 100 percent.

“Take note that is mandatory to delete all what was left from the older theme version before intalling this update.”

What exactly do you mean by this? While I don’t see this in the resources you provided, it suggests to me that we need to delete all the pages we created, the plug-ins associated with our current version of newspaper, and thee theme itself, and then rebuild everything. Can’t we just overwrite the old theme through FTP, keep the pages as they are, and update the plug-ins after the theme is installed?

Thank you Vlad. It worked!!! I was able to remove the latest articles from the home page.

1- Are there any content elements which can fit in 1/3 space.
2- i want to fit in most of the content in 2/3 space and use the 1/3 space for other things. but not able to/ most of grids and blocks fit in full width only.

can you guide?

Dear Vlad,

It would be nice if you could help me again, please. I have with your instructions, which I found see screenshots, changed the code.

The code breaks my page and then there is parse error.

Many thanks. Rick

https://www.screencast.com/t/iN3BVwVzenP

My Code:

<div class=”td-header-rec-wrap”>
<?php
if(pmpro_hasMembershipLevel(array(‘1′,’2’))){

// show the header ad spot
echo td_global_blocks::get_instance(‘td_block_ad_box’)->render(array(‘spot_id’ => ‘header’, ‘spot_title’ => $tds_header_ad_title)); ?>
}
</div>

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected end of file in /wp-content/plugins/td-composer/legacy/Newspaper/parts/header/ads.php on line 8
The site is experiencing technical difficulties.

Hi,

Sorry for all the trouble I caused. This morning I discovered that the problem is that the new version of the theme is using 533×261 for block 3. And some years ago I deleted images with those specifications from the server because I didn’t need them.

Perhaps you can address that in future releases of the theme. My old theme was using the correct images for block 3!

Hi all!
is there a way to call the content of the latest article from a category in tagdiv composer? I got a client that likes block 18 (top article) presentation, but below the photo they want all of the content text of the same article… I used block 18 limited to 1 post and below i placed block 11 for the rest of the posts. In between these two i tried the Display Posts plugin so i can use shortcodes. I get an unstyled full/no paragraphs text. For some reason i don’t think that this is the best or most optimal solution anyway.
Any suggestions?
cheers!

Hi,

That plugin cannot be used anymore since update 9.7, it has been replaced by a new plugin
https://forum.tagdiv.com/developer-info/
You could use this plugin from now on. Or experiment with flex blocks, maybe what it used to be possible only with the api plugin, it is now possible with flex blocks and grids
https://tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-flex-block-elements/
https://tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-big-grid-flex-elements/

Hello !

1. The latest articles option comes from page settings and cannot be edited BUT it can be removed. You will have to go and edit the page from here: https://www.screencast.com/t/2yAuA478

2. In order to have 1 or more columns you can edit / add a row. Click on the ROW tab when tagDiv Composer is active and select the layout you want to have like here: https://www.screencast.com/t/dXW0AqJHN5c

3. In order to set what type of block you want you can simply go to search and add from the add element option in the tagDiv Composer and add it to your page.

Thank you !

Hi,

You could set a negative margin for the row containing the grid and the row containing the block below – http://prntscr.com/notwqphttp://prntscr.com/notwyp Use a value of 48px because these are the default margins between rows.

Or I could give you a code for it, to remove the padding and margin as you want
http://prntscr.com/nou14i
The code can be entered in the theme panel, custom CSS section

.home .td_block_wrap.td_block_big_grid_fl_1 {
margin-bottom: 0;
}
.home.td-health .td-main-page-wrap {
padding-top: 0;
}

I could modify the code if needed.

Thanks

Hi,

I see the problem, seems the Facebook comments appear 3 times for some reason. Once where expected, then below the related articles and also below the footer.

I could give you a code to remove the extra comment sections, you could give it a try

.single .fb-comments,
.single .heateor_ffc_facebook_comments_title {
display: none;
}
article .tdb_single_content .fb-comments,
article .tdb_single_content .heateor_ffc_facebook_comments_title {
display: inline-block;
}

Thanks
