Hi
Installed the Newspaper theme in my wordpress. Then installed the tech news demo. After activating I went to the theme panel and changed the header style. Did Save Settings.

Opened a new browser window and browsed to the site. I am not seeing the changes made to the header style when I browse to the site.

What could I be doing wrong ? I cleared the local browser cache also.

After I install the demo content on my “secure” SSL site, the site is classified as “not secure” in every web browser I try (Chrome, Firefox). However, when looking at this same theme on EnvatoMarket the demo of this theme is “secure” in each browser.

This issue does not come up after I install the theme, it only shows up after I install the theme + the demo content.

I was under the impression that only the Facebook ID was required to get the Facebook functionality to work. I watched the tutorials and that was the impression I was left with. The Pages are all Public and have been up for years and can be seen when the appropriate link is clicked-even when logged out of Facebook-demonstrating that they are public.

I have completely blown out the site a few times and each time the same result for anything related to Facebook. All other social platforms work perfectly.

I loaded a default demo fro NewsPaper, installed only the Two Plugins on the Theme Panel-Visual Composer and Social Counter- and still no joy.

Has there been an update to Facebook that broke the Social Counter plugin?

I’m finding it difficult to remove the demo content in the social counter plugin which I installed from the Newspaper Theme Dashboard.

Please, i need guidance on how to integrate the social plugin counter with my social network pages like facebook and twitter. As of now, the social counter is showing tag div social pages in my blog instead of mine.

I’m new in blogging and don’t know much about codes, please

Thanks

Hi,

1. The slider is a complex element and it would not be easy to change the way it is designed – https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/ios-slider/ If you want to make these modifications you would have to take in account multiple elements and classes.

2. The theme can be renamed just by changing it’s name in the style.css file and the theme folder.

3. You could do a search and replace in the demo’s stylesheet file – https://www.screencast.com/t/3LbDTtmt

Thanks

Hi,
Please kindly advise WP Super Cache config for loading site on mobile devices.
I did all config like on https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/

pls mind, I don’t have Mobile Theme installed, but loading site to mobile phone/tablet doesnot work at all.
Currently I have only TagDiv Default demo content on my site.

When deactivate WP Super Cache, loading site to mobile phone/tablet works OK.
What’s wrong with WP Super Cache ?

Hi,

I see you have installed the baby blog demo, and this has no padding top for the page. You could use the code I provided above and set a padding (with the value you want) or just use the method you are using now.

Thanks

Hello,

You can use for example a block 18 and set it to only show 1 post: https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/block-18/
You can check the other blocks our theme provides as you will find one closer to what you are looking for as there are 25 to choose from.

Thank you!

Hello Xinga,

Please keep in mind that your theme does not have any problems regarding on Sidebar and Ads, sorry! As you can see, the theme is fully responsive and for mobile devices, the Sidebar will fall down at the bottom of the page. I do not know where is the problem. Please provide more details about what you mean and also, provide your website so I will be able to provide a more accurate response. For more tests, you can check our demo site, like this -> https://demo.tagdiv.com/newsmag/td-post-the-20-free-things-to-do-in-sydney/

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi,

Using Visual composer – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-use-visual-composer/ you can create your own pages with the elements and the structure you want, and then set a static page as the homepage – https://forum.tagdiv.com/homepage-how-to-build-and-set-it/ Here is a tutorial about the blocks used to create your pages – https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-guide/ to help you understand their functionality. For example you could create a page with a big grid on top – https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/big-grid-1/ and latest articles below – https://forum.tagdiv.com/page-templates-2/ if you would like to keep the blog look.

Thanks

Hello press15,

I have checked your website and I saw that you are using the mobile theme plugin. If you are using this plugin for mobile viewport, this is normal behavior because the Mobile Theme does not recognize the Visual Composer shortcode.
I suppose that you do not understand very good how mobile theme works, right? So, please notice that this theme concept intend to display a Big Grid feature at the top of homepage which shows the posts which are included in Featured category, then will show a text which you added in Mobile Editor in Visual Composer from backend and at the very bottom of the page you will bring the Latest Articles module. Please keep in mind that the Mobile Theme do not recognize the Visual Composer shortcode and that’s why you did not get the demo style for mobile theme. So, for more information about our mobile theme, please check the documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/ If you are unhappy with this layout, and if you want to have the similar structure with our demo mobile, you will simply turn off the mobile plugin and the theme will be automatically switched to the general responsive mobile mode.

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi Guys,
We, YOU, have a problem.

I have browsed a wee bit in the forum but after 3 all complaining that their AdSense ads weren’t showing I thought I’d just right in with what I have learnt tonight.

I got a message from Google:
Beginning in January 2017, Chrome (version 56 and later) will mark pages that collect passwords or credit card details as “Not Secure” unless the pages are served over HTTPS.
The following URLs include input fields for passwords or credit card details that will trigger the new Chrome warning. Review these examples to see where these warnings will appear, and so you can take action to help protect users’ data. The list is not exhaustive.

While I don’t even have a contact us form on my site and the only login is the WP admin I was puzzled. It turns out that what Google are picking up is the word(s) “Password” in the page source code. They make the assumption, and rightly so, that if the source code has the word password many times then a password is expected to be entered at some point.

I just did a search on your demo page: view-source:https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper_magazine/ and Password show 13 – THIRTEEN times.

This might be why, or it might not, Adsense ads aren’t showing for some users. (Although, I suspect many of them have new AdSense accounts and are too impatient…)

For me, I have never had an issue with the adverts showing, they always have. BUT the site is being penalised because “Password” is in the source code. And part of the reason for the site is advert revenue. Therefore, I respectfully ask that you investigate a remedy A.S.A.P.

Hi,

Unfortunately these are the only options available for styling the big grids, as it can be seen in the demohttps://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/big-grid-1/ Each grid contains a combination of modules – https://www.screencast.com/t/5cPHjrzzXg and each module meta, like the article title is positioned on the big grid through the module structure and the theme’s css – https://www.screencast.com/t/ze1CktCs if you want to modify the module title for example to be displayed outside of this container it will have to be custom made, either by modifying the structure in the module used on the big grid itself – https://www.screencast.com/t/tQwwG1A9tAYz or by css code – https://www.screencast.com/t/KKlm1lMNawGG Here is a tutorial about using the browser inspector tool to identify the elements used and their classes and create custom code – https://forum.tagdiv.com/create-custom-code-using-the-browsers-inspector/

Hello benlauwork,

I have checked this post from our demo preview -> https://www.screencast.com/t/ZrVMA20P3Sj which has Featured Video set up and the Google Structure Data Official Testing Tools does not encounter any errors regarding on Video Markup from our theme, as you can see here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/jYATWlxk Do you have checked your post with this tool? Please test your website with this official tool and make some useful screenshots to explain where is the problem. Try this -> https://search.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool Please keep in mind that our theme uses all the required markup from Structure Data which is included in the theme core files. Since there is no error, it means that it is okay!

Thanks for your understanding!

Hello T2N,

Yes, it is true. The Mobile Theme is faster than the normal theme for mobile. This was a new concept which was implemented in our theme and as you see, this is an optional plugin. Please notice that this theme concept intend to display a Big Grid feature at the top of homepage which shows the posts which are included in Featured category, then will show a text which you added in Mobile Editor in Visual Composer from backend and at the very bottom of the page you will bring the Latest Articles module. Please keep in mind that the Mobile Theme do not recognize the Visual Composer shortcode and that’s why you did not get the page content created with Visual Composer for mobile theme.

Hello,
I want to explain first that I want to do.
I have older version of newspaper theme (7+). So, Now I want to update the theme.

Here, I will do:
Go to cpanel-> Website Name folder -> Wp-content folder -> Theme Folder-> Newspaper -> Delete this folder and Upload Latest version.

I have not edited or customize existing theme code.
So, I guess, my theme will update if i follow above process. But, Here is my few query:

1) Do I need to active other theme during this process?

2) After update will it change my all existing theme setting?

3) I have installed demo version of newspaper theme(when i started the website). Later, I edited or deleted demo post and replaced with my new blog post. And also, I have changed the setting as my need(Few block also deleted from my homepage which were not necessary for me).
So, What will happen for the demo setting that I installed with older version?
(I am worry about this part please explain clearly. Because, if previous demo setting not work then I need to install demo version again with this update theme version and need lots of work to setup everything again.)

4) I do not want to change my exiting theme setting, post-page setting etc but want to update theme. So, if i follow my above step then will i face any problem? Do you have any other safest recommendation to update the theme?

Thanks

Hi,

1. Please check to see if you have the default thumb size set in wordpress – https://www.screencast.com/t/uosBOW2xYg and make the changes if not. Also clear your cache after the modification.

2. If you are using the mobile theme, this plugin was designed with speed and performance in mind, so it comes with predefined templates for the homepage, posts and categories. So you will have the mobile theme post template regardless of the post template used for the post. More information here – https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/ If you do not use the mobile theme, the theme has full responsive design so it always looks good on all devices.
Post template style 8 – https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/td-post-2015-awards-all-of-the-best-and-worst-moments-from-the-show/ could be a bit slower in loading since it features a background image.

Thanks

Bogdan B.
tagDiv Staff

Hello,

Post style 8 simply adds your image as a background to the site and shows it through the transparent section at the top: https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/td-post-2015-awards-all-of-the-best-and-worst-moments-from-the-show/
What this means is that you will have to make your photos widescreen. If a picture is full screen, and almost all of the screens today have a wide aspect ratio, I think it’s common sense, you will need an aspect ratio closest to the majority of the screen resolutions a user can have;. and that is 1920×1080 Most screens today share this resolution. Try to add your images in these dimensions and you will no longer have a problem with this post template.

Thank you!
