Also please try to disable your plugins except Visual Composer and check how it goes. Most probably you have installed a plugin recently which cause these issues. Try to use less plugins.

To improve your server response time you can try to reduce the number of queries (fewer plugins, fewer blocks on page, reduce the elements which use ajax requests/pagination like mega menus/load more/infinite load). To improve the loading speed look the MySQL query cache: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/query-cache.html we also use it on our demo.

I have installed WordPress 4.7 on updated Newspaper theme but haven’t find any compatibility issue till now.
Though it appears to be a little faster than before. 🙂 No sure, if it’s psychological illusion or what 🙂

You can try to add the code in style.css directly at the bottom of the file as css rewrites tend to be seen for a split second as you describe. Try to add it in the css file and it should be faster. Unfortunately this is the way css works. That is why it’s called cascading style sheets.

That sounds amazing!! I have just had redis installed and wow. Yeah it’s fast – and the run we are currently under (100,000) page views per day, for the past few days; it’s holding solid and loading within 4 seconds. I’m stunned that redis made that much of a difference and the theme works great with it too. Now, as for the other stuff, I will run that by our team and see what we can use because – rumor has it the faster you get the more views you get.

Please try to make a new clean install from scratch on the new sub-domain with the latest version from Theme Forest. You should do this only via FTP way because this is the surest and safe method in this regard. Notice that the Visual Composer is fully compatible with the theme and until now we have not encountered any problems in this regard. Actually they suggested it because it would make it faster overall.
I’m with inmotionhosting and I have yet to have a problem with their hosting.
The dedicated support and speed is amazing plus the theme works phenomenally with their config.
All I wanted to do is speed it up past what I have now and currently with the config you have mentioned when we aren’t getting obliterated with views it loads in 1-2 seconds.
When I originally set up the theme I set it up using your config and your config is mostly the reason it loads so fast as is – so thank you all for taking the time to put those together.

I hope they will make the theme PHP7 compatible ASAP. PHP7 is much faster than PHP5.6x . also, it does not seem to be a big job to get the exiting compatibility problems fixed.
Friends, I recently upgraded to version 7.5 of Newsapper. After this, I noticed that the blocks of the home were completely misaligned, evidencing a conflict with the Shim Plugin.
The Shim plugin is very useful for us because it solved the problems of server overload, besides making the site much faster in loading.
I wish there was an update of the Shim plugin to resolve this incompatibility.

When you decide to post content on your website, the theme automatically generates thumbnails from the featured image to display the content on your pages in an attractive way. To make your website faster, you can control which thumbnail is generated. To do this go to Theme Panel > Block Settings > Thumbs on Modules/Blocks and disable the unused ones to save space on your server.

Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files. Then test images again.
You should remove any unnecessary plugins from your website. I know probably all of them are useful but they do more damage than help. Plugins are not usually written correctly and using more plugins you weaken your site security and functionality.

To rule out any conflicts you should disable all the active plugins and install only ones come bundled with the theme. The minify options provided by plugins or most tools do not do the job properly and break the theme js causing the lazyload animation to break and not allowing the images to show up anymore.
