You can do this just by adding the URL of the video in the featured video field: http://screencast.com/t/ka4Ak3T5h1xf This way you will have your featured video thumb on your homepage and your video displayed first on your post page.

Any interactive buttons (clicking to next slide for anything), will not work on the homepage. However, they do work on all other pages.
It even includes clicking the “more” button in the sharing widget, as that doesn’t work either.
Does anybody know what the problem may be?

In homepage we have some horizontal and vertical coluns, with some sliders with Fields, like travel, tech and gadgets. How i can customize this? i can customize like i want or i just have the models came with template?
Thank you, i manually installed without using filezilla..I however had to do the same with the plugins as they had directory problems too. Which now seems to affect the ones that need updating, so need to figure that out. I was wondering if you could answer another question, I stupidly installed the demo content, please tell me I can undo this, I have a site with a huge amount of content already and now my homepage is demo content 🙁 Also I have thousands of videos on my site, its a content curration site, my last theme waas using shortcodes which this theme isn’t supporting in my posts, is there a quick solution to this, as I obviously can’t go through thousands of videos to fix it.

Actually, just noticed something. Ever since I popped that code in, the “unique articles” function for the homepage isn’t working anymore.
I tried turning it off – still duplicate posts. Then turned it back on – still duplicate posts.
Does the new code somehow disable the U.A. function?

I would like to display the date of the post on the article but not on the homepage.
How can I do that ?
I can disable/enable the date on the post setting configuration but I don’t find a way to display it only on the post.
Moreover, how can I disable the like and tweet button on the bottom of the post ?

Hey, got 3 problems so far.
1 – I made a post and it showed the full image and no text, author, categorys, tags, nothing. I deleted the post to trash then delete permamently, but anytime I try to re-use that post name URL it shows the same messed up post. I made a new post with different title with same picture text etc and it worked, but I need the URL that I am locked out of from the first time.
2 – I tried the cropped featured image and it wasn’t going to work for me, most of my photos will be high res since its a sports site and it will almost always cut off important parts of the picture. With it turned off the featured image in posts look great, but the images on the homepage cut off pretty badly. I was looking at your alls demo theme – http://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/full_screen_preview/5489609 – And you can see the photo for the ipad mini doesnt change between its featured image, its bigger image on sidebar and even its very small 100px image. Is there a way for me to do this? The pictures on your demo make it look like all pictures will be shrunk to the correct PX and not be cut off.
3 – Comment options on posts are not showing up. I have tried the theme panel buttons but no dice.
Since we wanted to have an individual layout of our start page we designed one with VC. However, it seems that not all of the modules are available as blocks. Is there a reason for it?
Example: I like the “Module search” due to its small image. I can only use it if we select “Homepage – with article list” as template. However, it is not available in the VC blocks – there is only Block 6 with larger images. It would be great if all the modules are available as blocks!
Unfortunately, I cannot combine both since the sidebar is not independent. If I define the upper part of the page using VC (e.g. to include a Slide for the featured articles as in the demo) the sidebar (defined in the page’s “Homepage latest articles” section) starts only at the lower part together with the latest articles and in the upper part the column right to the slider is empty.
This limits the flexibility of Newspaper, which – apart from this problem – is great!

Thanks a lot for your answer, it works pretty well. The only problem left I’d like to solve is that the category background color doesn’t seem to be the one I chose in the theme panel.

Ok, so I am also using the Homepage 3 layout and on the category select there actually is no option to select the categories that I want going through that part of the site. I do see that you can filter out categories by ID but where I can see the ID of the categories is not obvious to me. Is there something that I am missing regarding the category ID?

On the homepage (and on pages) I was able to eliminate duplicate postings by enabling the “unique articles” element. But when I view an article (post), I see the same article’s thumbnail showing up in a category block on the sidebar (which is populating by most recent).

I don’t see a “unique articles” toggle when I edit a post, only on pages. Is there is a way to eliminate this from happening on post pages? Or is there another work-around?
Also, is there a way to use visual editor on posts?

Unfortunately it will not work in your case and this appears like that because you haven’t set a featured image for that post.
What you could do it to enable the feature image place holder: http://screencast.com/t/zEqlfFU41R if you do not want any featured image for a specific post and prevent the layout you get now or you can set a featured image and use the gallery post format: http://screencast.com/t/NgZJlvSV to use only the thumb of it on category pages, homepage, block and so on..

I’d like to move the latest articles on the homepage to just below the big slider, but on top of another block that I have, so I’d like to display the latest articles in between them.

@Tom I have checked your site and found that all features that use ajax don’t work. I also found some js errors in your console which seem to come from a minified version of and could generate this issue.
First thing you should do is to disable all plugins leaving only the ones essential running then empty all cache files, purge files if using any CDN services and check for this again.

Not sure that this is the blame for your slowly loading site but first you should make sure that aren’t and eliminate them.
On the other hand, I have check your site’s page speed using Google’s PageSpeed Insights and according to it you need to optimize your images: http://screencast.com/t/Wfn2Vq7K
You should check it yourself and also use this guide to find how you could make your site faster.

Yes, unfortunately the speed booster plugin may cause conflicts in use with other plugins so empty all cache and also purge files if you use CDN, disable all plugins leaving active only the speedbooster plugin and visual composer and check for this again.

You should also consider updating your theme to the latest version 4.5 and check again for this.

I have installed the “qTranslate” plugin for managing my language support on this theme. I am currently with two issues:
1. What do I have to do in order to appear at the homepage which language to select (like a drop-down for EN and PT language selection)? I haven’t find any information regarding this on documentation.
2. When I open any post currently I get the following error – “The qTranslate Editor has disabled itself because it hasn’t been tested with your WordPress version yet. This is done to prevent WordPress from malfunctioning. You can reenable it by clicking here (may cause data loss! Use at own risk!). To remove this message permanently, please update qTranslate to the corresponding version.” This appears as many times as number of text boxes that require translation. I am currently running on WordPress version 4.0–en_US. What should I do?

These are elements on the home page — a page like any other, except that it’s identified in the WordPress “reading” settings as your static front page.

This set up makes it appear like this on the homepage (its correct)
What I want to do but have not been able to figure it out is how to change the Title for Module 9 – seen in the above image as ‘A different test post‘
(To be clear – I’m trying to change the Title NOT the Extract)
I’ve gone through most of the typography settings but cant seem to locate it
