Hello everyone!
I was recently running my website (www.christianholydays.com.au) using the Enfold wordpress theme and was receiving an average of 80 in the google page speed test. After deciding to try other wordpress themes that appeared to receive good reviews for speed, I changed over to Newspaper. I spent a couple weeks transitioning the site over to newspaper, and then received an incredible shot when I did a google page speed test:

35/100 on the mobile version, and 40/100 on the desktop version. When looking into the reason for the poor score, I discovered several issues. It appears that all of the images are being resized and instead of optimised files being delivered, full size images are being resized via css/html. This is affirmed through GT Metrix as well. GT Metrix gives 65/100 score, and states that several images are “resized in HTML or CSS from 845×475 to 178×100.”
Can someone please help me with this issue? I’ve tried to do several things to help the issue, but it doesn’t seem to be working.
I’ve currently got MAXCDN installed with additional zones, using the fastest hosting package through Siteground, purchased the ewww image compression functionality, have w3 caching plugin installed, and static/dynamic/MEM caching through my server. I’d hate to see what my score was with out any of the caching plugins! Perhaps it’d be better??
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve installed one pre-made demo and unpublished all demo articles. Then I wrote my own articles now big grid is not showing up when sort order is set to “featured”. Editor Picks is also not working. Even featured images are set for all articles. When I change the sort order to “latest” or “popular” then it eventually works. But Editors Picks is still not working. Is there anything that I’m missing???

We’re sorry to hear that you had issue with our theme. We make a lot of tests on each update before releasing it, unfortunately it’s impossible to replicate all conditions. There are many servers and each come with different settings.
On most cases the layout issues are caused by cache or cdn, it may still deliver an old version for some of the theme files(ex. style.css). The demos download a few images from our servers, this process should run smooth but in some rare cases the connection it too slow and results in a connection timeout. Try to install it again or try installing another demo, see if there’s a difference in behavior. Let me know how it goes.

I’m very sorry for this. We had a lot of problems with the update from V4 -> V6 because it’s basically a new theme that we release for free to our existing customers. Can you connect via ftp? go via ftp in /wp-content/plugins and delete the td-social-counter . Or via wp-admin disable the plugin first and an option to delete it will appear. After you remove the social counter you can install the new version via the theme panel and most of the stuff should start to run normally. also please read this: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/

When using the path make sure you’re updating the theme from it’s previous version, in this case you need to have V2.0 installed.

Is it possible to have both Newspaper4 and Newspaper6 installed in a multisite? Because I’m going to add a new site, but I do not want to take the job of upgrading the previous Newspaper4 site.
It seems like with every update your theme becomes even more terrible and buggy. Last time also during update I had to clean install whole site again due to lots of fatal errors. This time again! This time the problem was due to conflicting CSS classes of Visual Composer and main theme that made theme layout distorted. So I again reinstalled complete theme package, now when installing demo content, showing up this: http://screencast.com/t/3JJsjHrAhqn

My permalink structure in fine and .htaccess file is also on 644 permission.

I have never dealt with anything with these and I would like to know the easiest way to use these features you just added on the theme. I just installed Custom Post Type Generator plugin on the website, but I have never done CPT or taxonomies at all. So give me a little help to a beginner on this.

1) How can I disable the “Trending now” item on the top of the frontpage.
2) After changing permalink settings the top part of sub-category pages display 404. Where do I fix that?

i have seen the page megamenu option in the manual og the new theme version. the thing is, that i do undestand how to integrate a page via it’s id into the menu. but what i do NOT understand is, what i would have to do with a page to show up the things i would like to see …
i (of course guess) that i will have to create a page 😉 … But whats next?

So i have tried to install (once again) the uber menu. And i must say, that i came just a few steps more ahead than in my past unsuccessfull tests. I made it appear in my main menu. and it shows up as its configured now. that is really a success for my skill-level! 🙂
But: i do have a problem with a “double-menu” on mobile devices. i cannot find out how to unattach the uber menu from mobile devices. I have found the link to the integration manual on the uber website. but this integration is for the old version of the theme. so i cannot “simply” uncheck the uber menu for my mobile menu, as described there.
the old theme version had 4 menu locations? (header, main, footer, mobile) is that correct? and version 6 only has three of them? (header, main, footer)
so there is no more specific mobile location menu in version 6? how could i get rid off the uber menu on other devcices than desktop an tablet versions of my site?

I’ve tested the theme with WP Super Cache plugin installed and the date work fine. Try to clear the cache, deactivate all plugins and test again. Make sure you’re using the WP Super Cache plugin with the default settings.
