Hi! We launched our new version of the site based on Newspaper theme.
We are still having issue with the speed, especially on mobile layout.
https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.rnbjunk.com%2F
We are using W3 as suggested, only Page Cache and Browser Cache activated. MaxCDN, Cloudflare, and Speed Booster TagDiv, with Speed Booster Pack.
Could someone give us assistance?
Thank you
Hi,
1. Please use this css to hide the widgetised sidebar on mobiles:
@media (max-width: 767px) {
.wpb_widgetised_column {
display: none;
}
}
2. I have noticed that you use the text widget to add your ads. Please use our widget or VC ad box element: http://screencast.com/t/gTiyQnewr
3. Unfortunately the theme doesn’t have an option for that but you can add it manually or try to find a plugin for that.
Thanks
I think you did not get my question.
I want to develop mobile applications to be downloaded from google playstore and apple application store.
What could be done there?
Hi,
I’m not sure how you could do this as the theme loads the same content as on desktop on mobiles screens also and you can turn that off and using an mobile theme/application will just load the page content for example which will lead you into this issue: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-manage-the-mobile-theme/
Based on this I’m not sure how you can achieve this, you could use js to detect mobile screens and load different content or a plugin that work this way.
We plan to add an option for this in future updates and we are still searching for the best implementation for this so we can’t offer you any answer on this at this moment.
Sorry for the inconvenience!
Thanks for your message and for understating!
Hi,
I tested this myself and I haven’t found any issues with quotes on mobile screens: http://screencast.com/t/QNo42lHQ8Ea
You can also check this on our demo: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newsmag/td-post-the-oriental-experience-chew-pan-asia-cafe/
Please make sure you have the theme latest version(1.4) and you can also test this without any plugins active and empty cache. Let me know if this still happens and provide a link so I can inspect this.
Thanks!
Hi,
Please use these divs to show ads on tablet and mobile also, just add the image src for each device in the divs below:
<div class="td-visible-desktop">

Hi,
To remove the more stories box from mobiles you can sue this custom css in theme panel > custom css filed:
@media (max-width: 767px) {
.td-more-articles-box{
display:none;
}
}
Thanks
Hey tagdiv ,
Good Evening..hey i m very much happy with the responsive website as it’s doing great!
now i want to move to mobile application for android, apple devices etc..
being a non-techie i would need a good opinion from you that what should i do?
i read about apppress and some plugins which do the job of conversion of wordpress blog to mobile application to be published on application marktets.
Do you have someone who could do it for The Bayside Journal
You guys know it better, as it is your own code and how it can be done the best .
My basic requirements are push notifications , clean interface as newsmag has and one custom requirement which could be done easily.
Please give me a good opinion about it.
Hallo Lucian,
happy 2015.
I have a little problem with a Banner in my sidebar (LUOGHI DEL TERZO R.).
In the desktop version it appear but in the others version (mobile etc.) don’t appear.
Why? Could you help me to resolve this problem?
Regards
Hello!,
Since I updated your newspaper theme I encounter problems with the displayed home page.
Instead of the desktop theme home page built by visualcomposer I get the mobile home page (It is similar to the one generated by WPtouch Pro (mobile) but it is not the same one, it looks like the VC page code distorted somehow via the unwanted switch.
check it on:
http://www.defense-update.com
and also on
Thanks!
Tamir
Dear Tagdiv,
How to display the “more stories” only in the desktop version, but does not show to the mobile version? Because it is quite useful when access from a desktop computerin a computer, but rather annoying if it appears on the phone screen.
Thanks 🙂
Hello,
I found a problem with quotes. If a quote (any type of it) is long it breaks not by words, but by number of symbols. This is the way, how long quotes look like in mobile versions:
Imagine there’s no co
untries It isn’t hard
to do Nothing to kil
l or die for And no re
ligion too Imagine al
l the people Living l
ife in peace..
Is there any way to fix the bug?
Hi,
You can also set your sidebar like this: http://screencast.com/t/kyIPcX9y8 just set and add your page content on the left then use the layout I’ve pointed in the screenshot and using a widgetised VC element add your sidebar.
For the ads you need to use the div’s mentioned into the ads guide: http://screencast.com/t/BJ2EAWEu and set a banner for each screen width (mobile/tablet/desktop): https://forum.tagdiv.com/ads-system-full-guide/
Regarding the inline ads please note that I have also tested this and haven’t found any issues:
config: http://screencast.com/t/KjSpwbaLB
result: http://screencast.com/t/gcvA3Y7ouM
Please make sure that you use this right and also try it without any plugins active.
Thanks
Hey, thanks for the codes, they work.
I’ve set the sidebar on the right side on pages, as it was default, but it still won’t show on the front page anywhere above the latest articles. I want it to be shown in every page the same way, I don’t want to make different sidebars to use as widgets for the homepage.
Regarding the ads, this is my test site : http://xzs.idevice.ro/ . I use ads on my own web server with a floating code, and I want to add a normal 728 x 90 one for desktop and tablets, plus a 320 x 50 one for mobile. For this to work I need to show two different custom ads in mobile and desktop.
Multumesc!
Hi,
You can also set the sidebar for the page as well from page template settings section: http://screencast.com/t/29IKb73Cj7rV
To remove the more stories box from mobiles you can sue this custom css in theme panel > custom css filed:
@media (max-width: 767px) {
.td-more-articles-box{
display:none;
}
}
To hide the sidebar you can use this custom css:
@media (max-width: 767px) {
.td-main-sidebar {
display: none !important;
}
}
Regarding ads please note that those ad switches are for adsense ads only so if you are using other type of ads will not work. Please send your site’s URL so I can also inspect this.
Thanks

And one more thing, how can I show different ads for mobile and desktop? The toggles in the Ads menu are not working for some reason or another for custom ads.
I used a custom php code found here to add a banner to my footer, but it’s size varies, so I want to add different sizes to mobile and desktop using the custom ad panel. Like I said before, the toggles don’t have any effect, the banners are showing everywhere no matter what I disable via the ads menu.
Thank you.
I actually appreciates the latest update adding bbpress support in particular, but I must make a note of the Ajax Login/Register System that’s not being Implemented – It really Disappoints.
Kindly add this in the next update cos most plugins works on desktop browsers and don’t displaying well on mobile.
I hope you get my point?
“You must be logged in to create new topics.” the “logged in” should bring the theme’s Ajax Login/Register.
I hope it wouldn’t take so long before this is done.
Thank you.
I have opted for style 1 (logo-image + ad + menu) for header. I want the logo at the Centre in header in the mobile and tablet versions in the sequence of menu + logo + search icon.
Also, the menu drop down window is too wide, how to reduce the width? How to add bgcolor to the same window? Is it possible through CSS. Please help what should be the CSS code.
Thanks for your help.
Hello, is there any way to make the default sidebar appear on the right side of the whole homepage, even where there are widget blocks ? At the moment the default sidebar is only shown in the bottom of the page where the latest articles are visible.
I know I can make widgetised sidebar blocks for each widget block, but I don’t want that. I want the default sidebar to be shown on the entire home page as it is in articles.
LE: I would also like to hide on the mobile phone view the “more stories box” visible within articles.
And finally I would like to completely hide the sidebar in the mobile phone view to make navigation a lot simpler.
Thank you!
+1
(shown only on mobiles)
Disqus is showing on my website as well, though we use WP Touch Pro for a mobile theme.
You can edit the style.css file to change the widths of the layout for desktop, by editing the @media section for desktops, without affecting the mobile sections.
However this would impact the overall layout.
You might also simply add some padding to the post area, by looking at the section using Chrome inspector, or view source, and find the main div for the post area, then experiment with adding some padding to that in the custom CSS box in the theme panel.
Obviously hacking the theme to change things is a little bit trial and error, but that’s how you learn 🙂
The smart sidebar behavior does not violate Google AdSense terms of use. I checked with them on that. It’s not a floating sidebar, it’s a sticky sidebar, meaning that the behavior simply sticks the sidebar in place which is a popular element in Bootstrap based design.
The div is still the same and with responsive design can move on the page based on viewport and locale. This is also common with parallax design.
The function only works on desktop and not on mobile.
Hi,
Theme was designed to not show top menu on mobile view and there is no option for this.
Please use this custom css: http://screencast.com/t/BYx45vKqIg
@media (max-width: 767px){
.td-header-menu-wrap {
display: block;
font-size: 11px;
}
.top-header-menu, .td-header-menu-wrap .menu-post-and-page-settings-container .menu {
margin-left: 0px;
}
.top-header-menu li a, .td-header-menu-wrap .menu-post-and-page-settings-container .menu li a {
padding: 0px 2px 0px 2px;
}
}
Thanks!
