- NewspaperHow to Make the Site Faster
Hi there,
It’s the first time we use the Newspaper theme to create a website. However, what is negatively surprising is the speed we obtain with the theme. We are still trying to improve it since we have bad results.
The website is located here: https://letzbehealthy.com and is configured for two “languages/regions” with WPML.
We followed the different recommendations given here: https://tagdiv.com/how-to-increase-page-loading-speed/ and in other topics on the forum. The only thing is that we did not set up any CDN: our target population is in France, Belgium, and Luxembourg, and the server is localized in France (Gravelines, OVH). Also, to start, we are on a shared server since we don’t have much traffic, but we will consider switching to a dedicated server when it will grow. The website is, however, slow while never reaching limits of the CPU usage.
Regarding the Plugins, we have:
– Advanced Ads Pro;
– Autoptimize to minify CSS;
– Contact Form 7;
– Duplicator Pro (running during the night);
– Insert Pages;
– Newsletter;
– Really Simple SSL;
– ShortPixel Image Optimizer;
– Slide Anything;
– The Events Calendar;
– Wordfence Security;
– TagDiv suite (except Mobile Theme & Standard Pack since we only use Cloud Templates);
– WP Super Cache;
– WP-Optimize to clean the database episodically;
– WPML suite, and;
– Yoast.
We, therefore, use well-known plugins that are quite standard…
The score is “OK” when looking at the desktop version (PageSpeed Google), with a score starting around 80 when the cache of the server is cleaned and slightly improves after reload. Still, the page loading speed could sincerely be enhanced.
On the mobile side, the score is horrible. We don’t use the mobile theme because our mobile display is supposed to be a simpler version of the desktop version with the same design & functions. We use lighten versions of our desktop version thanks to CSS hidden functions (which is the recommendation from TD team)…
Anyway, Lazyload is activated, images are optimized & sized correctly (normally), etc. What’s wrong?
Thank you in advance for your input
Hello !
Please follow the documentation of WP Rocket: https://docs.wp-rocket.me/article/1266-optimize-css-delivery
We cannot provide you a css file because the CSS is being generated as you modify the theme and anyway that doesn’t seem to be the case here.
Also please note that WP Rocket is not a supported plugin, therefore it is not covered by the support team.
Thank you !
I use the wp-rocket plugin and am about to activate the “Optimize CSS delivery” option.
However, to do this, I need to place the theme’s CSS inside this option so that the site loads normally.
So I ask you to send me the css (or patch).
Attached, I send the image of the option for your better understanding.
Thank you Vlad again, though i have spent many hours researching this so iv already read that many times.
I have problem with this part. Page builder elements – The “Mobile theme” is designed for users who want to optimize the page content for mobile devices or they want to display fewer / different elements on mobiles.
—
For optimal performance we removed the page builder dependency; this means you cannot use the page builder elements for the “Mobile theme” pages. If you want to display the same elements on both mobile and desktop, don’t use the mobile theme, the main theme is already capable of this with it’s responsive design for mobiles.
—
because not, the main theme is not capable.. In my opinion. The speed performance without the plugin on is really bad and the website looks bad as the sidebar interferes with the flow of the website..
Therefore i am looking for a way how to replicate my already existing pages to the mobile theme without knowing HTML and CSS..
IS there a way??
Thanks Vlad,
I confirm that the script does not resize image but it regenerate missing thumbnails.
These images are not optimized (I used https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/). Could you suggest me a plugin to optimize the weight of these images?
Thanks
Dear team,
To optimize the speed of your theme it would be great if you can envisage adding to remove the scale image function.
Example:
The following images are resized in HTML or CSS. Serving scaled images could save 328.0KiB (95% reduction).

Is there a way in the Newspaper-Theme to LazyLoad-AdSense Ads? I have found several plugins that support this function to optimize the loading speed of the website. Unfortunately AdSense slows down every website…
Greetings Kathrin
Flusso, as you do not specify for what, I understand it is for the problem of the photos of the whatsapp … well in my case what I did is deactivate all the plugins and look for two that I read so that it loaded well, one is recommended to me by Vlad. the (Yoast SEO) the other what you are looking for on the other hand is to optimize the photos (Smush), with these two I have had no more problems with whatsapp the only thing that apart from being a bad program where there are, sometimes it takes time to load the meta of the links you put.
Hi,
I use the “Regenerate Thumbnails” as you suggest in your guide, but the plugin does not optimize the size of the image.
This can be impact not only on the free space required on the server, but SERP.
What tool, plugin or script do you suggest to optimize the image?
thanls
Hi,
You can import any cloud header you want from tagDiv Cloud Library, edit it with tagDiv Composer and add the elements you want.
Also you can use the website manager for cloud header and footer -> https://i.imgur.com/OQ3zMSU.png
The ad can be added using the ad box element from tagDiv Composer and set it where you want -> https://i.imgur.com/rlpkm0H.png
Also you can try to optimize your websites -> if you follow the steps which are presented in this tutorial here -> https://tagdiv.com/how-to-increase-page-loading-speed/ you’ll be able to increase the speed of your website.

had the same problem and it was for a few plugs, deactivates and tests. They affect those that optimize photos and cache.
Hi,
These depend on that settings you are using on you cache plugin, here is an similar case with Autoptimize cache size quickly get over 100% -> https://wordpress.org/support/topic/autoptimize-cache-size-quickly-get-over-100/page/2/
We recommend to use WP Super Cache with the settings from our guide -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/
Thank you!

I am testing the mobile theme now. It is indeed faster then the normal theme -> https://imgur.com/vI1sWo8
I have some question about the mobile theme.
Is it possible to change the make a button instead of the search icon.
Like it is here -> https://imgur.com/WNQt0B2
Is it possible to change the color of the category button on the post and make the text button letters black and also change the category place from the latest articles grid.
Like this -> https://imgur.com/nBESLn5
I would also even better if can only show the PREMIUM category tag also for the desktop version. Like this -> https://imgur.com/dmVGYUA
Also with the mobile them sometimes featured pictures are not loading fast.
Like this -> https://imgur.com/i3ZWYWS and This-> https://imgur.com/vr4xKsi
I use a code from memberpress to block partial content on post.
It looks like with the mobile theme the code is not working and the content is not protected.
See here the problem -> https://imgur.com/jjju6gQ
You place the code here in the post -> https://imgur.com/XcY2OXK
Also it looks like the mobile theme is switching back to the normal theme sometimes.
If these problems can be fixed I am thinking to switch to the mobile theme.
I also tried to optimized the normal version for mobile. But google is still giving me bad scores for the normal theme. But people with mobile are also saying the normal website works fine on mobile.
I am testing the mobile theme on domain: revivemag.nl
The normal theme for mobile is running on revive.nl
Thanks for the help.

You can use the mobile theme plugin, this will increase the mobile speed, but the layout will be different from desktop, also you need to display the responsive pages or make new ones using mobile editor, please check our documentation from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/

Hi Calin,
Thanks for that. I was getting better performance with Autoptimize so I’ll keep that in mind.
Thanks again for your time.
Liam
Hi
Could you suggest me another way to optimize page loading speed?
I already do optimize thee of this link below as your last suggestion
https://tagdiv.com/wp-super-cache-plugin-install-and-configure/ and maybe the autoptimize plugin – https://authoritywebsiteincome.com/autoptimize-wordpress-setup-2020/ also a plugin for images such as this one for example https://harnessyourwebsite.com/wordpress/optimizing-with-ewww-image-optimizer/ the score should improve.
However, the loading speed on mobile site remains the same.
Page speed score on mobile site = 17
Do you have another suggestion?
Thank you for your suggestion
