Hi
The theme is tested and should work fine. I assume that this happens due to a plugin conflict or because of some cache files. Try to deactivate all plugin except Visual Composer, clear all caches, purge cdn files if you’re using then test again.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!
Hi
this issue is mostly caused by js errors. These are caused by plugin conflicts. Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Then test your site again
Thank you!
Hi,
Please deactivate all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Then access the theme panel and hit the save button if you haven’t after you updated. If the problem is still there afterwards, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin so we can inspect the issue. Also include a link to this topic so we can identify you.

Hi,
Please filter your author box like so: http://screencast.com/t/1sOBysVrYa07 It works as expected for us. You ned to use the author id’s and add them simply in the field separated by comma’s
Please try to disable all plugins except visual compoer, clear cache and reset cdn files.
Thank you!
Hi,
I have checked your site and it seems the permalinks are wrong but this does not happen on our side. The permalinks on our testing platforms and localhost and all other instances of the theme are ok, so maybe there is an issue on your end. Please try to disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn file if you use it. Also please try to re-save permalinks.
Let us know how it goes.
Thank you!
Hello kosashi777,
In order to display this widget in your mobile view, please check the theme panel and ensure that this option is enabled from there, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/0sIbBtjs Also, if your problem is still there, please check your console and see if you have some js errors through it. Please try to disable all your untested plugins, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins.
For more information about this, please check our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/login-how-to-enable-user-registration/
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thanks.
Hello valerianidesign,
Please ensure that your latest update was loaded successfully. So, to be sure, please try to make a fresh install and update the theme only through FTP because this is the surest method to do an update. Also, after doing that, please install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme (Visual Composer 4.11.2, Social Counter 4.0). Before doing an update, please ensure that you have removed your old theme to avoid the installation errors.
For more information about theme update, please check our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thank you for your understanding!
Hello all,
@ankush, please notice that the mobile theme does not render the Visual Composer shortcode for your blocks from your pages but only the text with the Big Grid and Related articles will be displayed for your frontend in mobile theme. This is not an issue, this is just the mobile theme behaviour. For more information about this case, please check our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/
P.S. If you need the further assistance in this regard, please create another topic and tell there the problem for avoiding the confusions from this topic!
@Bintmusic, unfortunately, this is not the right behaviour for your mobile theme. Please notice that this plugin will display you by default a Big Grid and related articles because this is the template structure implemented. Please check your plugins list and try to disable all of them which are not tested with our theme because it could create a lot of unknown issues in this regard and leave just our untested plugins. Clear all your caches and check the results. Also, please notice that the Big Grid display all the posts which are in Featured Category. Please check this category and add there some posts which you want to be displayed on your theme mobile. ->> http://screencast.com/t/CPmP3tlkuCo
For your second problem, if you are referring to the Related Posts for Post page and also Related articles, indeed is a mini-bug and we will solve it as soon as possible in next future update.
P.S If you need the further assistance in this regard, please create another topic.
@Ardhi, unfortunately, this is the actual functionality of our mobile theme. Maybe in the future updates, we will develop this plugin and we try to implement new improvements but we cannot say for sure when it will be. Thank you for your suggestions. If you have a lot of pages and if you want to display all your content from these pages for mobile mode, you can to disable the mobile theme plugin. It is just your choice.
Thanks.
Hi, i set up a page with block 23 but when viewed in mobile the thumbnail image is not full width like the demo.
http://splashysplash.com/
when the template is used on categories it works on category pages but when i create a custom page using visual composer and blocks thumbnail is not full width. how can i fix this? thanks
OKay – fixed the issue.
The theme was blocking the visual editor – a setting in the ‘users’ tab. This was unticked for users but still was blocked.
We created a new user and then the tabs started showing. So we will reset all of our users now.
Version of Visual Composer included with the theme is 4.11.2 which is latest version tested compatible with Newspaper. It’s included in your theme downloads from ThemeForest.
07.04.2016 – ver 4.11.2
– Added: Compatibility with WP 4.5
– Added: Filter for database query limits
– Improved: Input Sanitization
– Improved: TGMPA compatibility
– Improved: Pageable Container Back button behavior
– Improved: vc_siteAttachedImages now uses get_posts instead of direct query
– Improved: Ordering by meta key in grid elements
– Improved: loop param work with multiple taxonomies selection
– Fixed: Google maps scroll behavior
– Fixed: Initial loading for Masonry Media Grid
– Fixed: Advanced Custom Fields vendor initialization
– Fixed: Post Grid filter taxonomy names collapsing
Hello.
As we get the latest update of theme (Newspaper7), we also get Visual composer broken. Latest theme update did not offer latest update of Visual composer plugin to us. We have Version 4.9.2 installed and latest is: current version 4.11.2.
If we got VC in a theme, that means that theme author has license and only he/she can download latest versions of VC and include it in the theme. We as a theme user, may use Visual Composer free of charge while we use theme that came with VC (because we have license for that theme).
I assume that this is a main reason of all our problems, and i really need to know why we did not get latest update in our theme update? This is serious problem, we can not work at all till this is over.
Please try to solve this ASAP.
Thanks

a) make sure you update VC plugin properly by
— delete old folder in /plugins/
— upload NEW updated js-composer plugin folder via FTP into your plugins folder
b) log-in to your theme
c) clear web browser cache completely
d) clear transients with wp-optimze
e) launch visual composer
f) if your page shows [code] try preview then ‘save’ without making changes
g) read up on changes to Visual Composer in case *they* decided to deprecate/retire some feature, which no longer works and will leave an empty space or reveal dead shortcode — only option is to remove old dead shortcode, and rebuilt that element
and it goes without saying you should ALREADY have increased your default memory for WP to 96MB or more in your wp-config.php file to even use VC at all!
VC is nice to have drag and drop, but it’s a tricky little bastard… er … little fellow.
If you get white screen of death, that’s a whole ‘nuther story.
Good luck!

Hi there,
First of all, I manage to update the Theme from version 6.7.2 to version 7.0 without having a problem, if you have some customization through code, you will have to do a backup and then you should try to re-implement this in Newspaper 7 files. Here’s what I did:
1. Switch your site to “Maintenance Mode” using a plugin or if you don’t have its fine also.
2. I switch my Theme from “Newspaper” to “Twenty Fifteen” theme since its in “Maintenance Mode” so nobody sees it except me. 🙂
3. I deactivate all my plugins and if possible do not deactivate the following plugins “WP Super Cache”, “Cloudflare” and my “Maintenance Mode” plugin, please note that “WP Super Cache” plugin once deactivated and activated again the settings change back to its default and make sure you set it to the correct settings or follow this link: https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/
4. Please don’t skip this to always backup the files and the database or ask your hosting company to guide you on how to do it, in case something goes wrong with the server you could use the backup to revert to the previous state as what the Documentation says follow this guide link: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ – Please read it carefully and follow what the instruction says follow the guide until Serial “A. Update the theme via FTP” only, this is the best way possible to update the Theme recommended by the tagdiv team.
5. After the update please ensure that you have cleared all your caches and purge your CDN files if you are using the CDN, and then go into the Theme Panel and click on the Save Settings button.
6. Update the following plugins – Visual Composer, Slider Revolution, tagDiv Social Counter and tagDiv Speed Booster that comes with the latest file you just downloaded from Envato>Download>All Files & documentation inside that there is a Folder name Plugins, how to update these plugins? follow this link and read it carefully: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/ and do the same way with the remaining plugins Slider Revolution, tagDiv Social Counter and tagDiv Speed Booster only.
7. Check your site if it’s working or not, if it is working then proceed to the next step, congrats you made it. 🙂
8. Then start activating again your plugins that you just deactivated earlier in Serial 3, much better one by one to activate your plugin then you will know what causing you a problem if you activate a plugin, first you activate the recommended ones then the rest of your plugins.
9. Since you haven’t found any problem at all and if you have some customization through code on the previous version, then you should try to re-implement this in Newspaper 7.
Try this common troubleshooting tool:
a. Clearing all your caches and purge your CDN files help a lil bit of our common problems.
b. Save again your Permalinks in case you have some extra Pages which comes or created by your Third Party Plugins and problems with some links are “Not Found”, go to Dashboard>Settings>Permalinks and mine is set to “Post name” then click “Save Changes”.
Lastly, if you have found any error or conflict or question about anything, please just do a search here in the forum or write a new topic and address your problem and I just share this atleast a lil help for the awesome tagdiv team. Great theme ever!!!
I love the new update Newspaper version 7 🙂
Enjoy!!!
My website http://www.observerxtra.com on mobile version displays a white screen with the text:
“The mobile theme path couldn’t be set. Please check if you already have another mobile theme plugin active and disable it (ex. Jetpack Mobile Theme or similar) If you use a cache plugin clear it before checking the results.”
When I updated the site last night, the mobile was working. I even changed the colour and it was working great. By the morning, without touching the site again the error message is displayed. Have to say when it was working I really liked it. Much faster which is super important for mobile — thank you for creating this add on. When I can get it working on our site it will be a great asset.
I don’t have another mobile theme plugin installed or Jetpack. I am hosted on WPengine and they look after cache and don’t allow cache plugins. I cleared the cache for page and object but nothing has changed. I updated all of my plugins.
After the upgrade to v7 my pages have gone wonky in the background – especially my homepage which I can’t get into anymore to edit. I read that Visual Composer was breaking these pages and not the theme, however, I have the latest visual composer and something is wonky with my current pages. If I start a fresh new page everything looks fine.
I would super appreciate if someone can take a look.
Hello,
after theme update, you can not log in anymore, and appears as follows:
Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function visual_composer() in /srv/users/serverpilot/apps/wordpress/public/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/functions.php:205 Stack trace: #0 /srv/users/serverpilot/apps/wordpress/public/wp-includes/plugin.php(525): myoverride(”) #1 /srv/users/serverpilot/apps/wordpress/public/wp-settings.php(393): do_action(‘init’) #2 /srv/users/serverpilot/apps/wordpress/public/wp-config.php(39): require_once(‘/srv/users/serv…’) #3 /srv/users/serverpilot/apps/wordpress/public/wp-load.php(37): require_once(‘/srv/users/serv…’) #4 /srv/users/serverpilot/apps/wordpress/public/wp-login.php(12): require(‘/srv/users/serv…’) #5 {main} thrown in /srv/users/serverpilot/apps/wordpress/public/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/functions.php on line 205
For the missing checkbox for the category “Articles”, I found that the reason for this was because “Articles” was set as a default category and default categories can’t be deleted.
Regarding the custom post type “Magazines” posts not showing together with regular posts, it was a visual composer setting where I had to click “edit” on the Visual Composer block where the posts would show, clicking the “filter” tab and specifying the custom post type in the field “Post Type”.
I understand, but even I set the mobile ads, the visual composer code will still show and it docent look so hot
For me it docent matter anymore, as I was trying to migrate from newsmag (planned to buy licence after i was sure i wanted to keep it for this site) but I decided to revert because click to rate doped 1.8% witch makes a big difference for me. Do you guys Plan to revamp newsmag as well? The lists in newsmag converyed way better than the lists in newspapper it seams, so for now i am staying.
Still I have to say that with newspapper 7 site was looking amazing! hopefully you guys put newsmag at the same level soon.
thanks!
For your reference, the page I am using to try this out is: http://newest.radass.com/galleries-people-human/
First, I disabled ALL plugins, except the S3 Offload, since all of our assets are on S3 storage. (Note, even when I disabled these plugins too, the Gallery html was not generated.)
Plugins: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2QpbwncFqR9d2FyV3FMUWdnR1k
Next, I added a standard gallery to a new post. Here, I show both the visual and text editor.
Text Editor: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2QpbwncFqR9RVJJWHdUS29oNjA
Visual Editor: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2QpbwncFqR9YVVQX0xfM25aRDg/view?usp=sharing
Now, looking at the Post page, the gallery does NOT render out. Using Developer Tools in Chrome, I’ve verified there is no Gallery being rendered here.
Post: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2QpbwncFqR9UG0tMFJzN0hMVUU
However, if I edit the gallery, and ask it to use the TagDiv slider:
Gallery Editor: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2QpbwncFqR9VkdXSVRZRXR0RTg
Then it will properly render THAT gallery out.
Post: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2QpbwncFqR9WXlJTDg3NnowclE
Again, if I change the theme to Twenty-Sixteen, the Gallery shows up no problem.
Hello fajrialhadi,
Please notice that this is not a problem with our Newspaper 7 !!! This is just the behaviour of this type of additional mobile theme plugin. If you have enabled the mobile theme, the pages will be displayed in the simple mode and you can only add your desired text which will appear on your mobile view. Please notice that this simple core for the mobile theme has been designed for a fast page loading, speed, clean content and relevant information. Also, if you are using the mobile theme, your home page will not display you the original page but only the big grid and the related articles because the Visual Composer not working for the mobile theme, though. If you do not want to have this behaviour for your mobile mode, you simply disable the tagDiv Mobile theme plugin from plugins area, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/uoSa0R9CUL6
For more information about our new feature, please consult our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/
Thank you for your understanding!
Hi
Thanks @nico for your answer.
@QZER please check our documentation for more detail about seating up a page and block settings: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-block-settings-tutorial/ – https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-homepage-how-to-build-and-set-it/ – https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-use-visual-composer/
If you still need assistance on this please provide your site url so I can have a closer look and get back to you with a more accurate answer.
Thanks!
Hello nucreative,
First of all, please ensure that you are correctly installed the new update via FTP because this method is most safety way in this regard. Also, please ensure that you are using the latest version of Visual Composer (4.11.2), Social Counter (4.0) and also, you have to use the latest version of child theme that comes bundled with our theme. Try to add all your customization from your old child theme to the new child theme and check the results.
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thanks.
