We are having some problems with our website http://www.larazon.net. The site is not showing Ads from Google and a Twitter Feed.

We were trying to improve the site speed and installed some plugins.

Any idea of what could be happening?

I have set up my website. All ready but there are a few issues when im checking it via google page speed insight.My score is 89 for desktop & 74 for mobile. Can any of your team member, take care of it if i provide the site user id & password in person? I find it complicated.

I have launched my newspaper based website on 2014/12/06. I was expecting traffic to be low at start due to the fresh domain. However 7 months later I see 24 (!) clicks per month on Google Webmaster Tools.

My other website (that I started on december 2013) is http://www.gameplayinside.com which has 62,161 Google clicks per month.

They are on the same server and have about the same google pagespeed score. Content quality/seo should be just as good. Both lack proper back links. The only differences are the topic and the theme.

Any thoughts? I would really like to continue developping my website but with 24 clicks per month I cannot afford to do that.

but when i visit like a user all the news are not found 404, the same in the preview on the admin panel.

How I can use the Speed Booster plugin to load the website fast.

Hi, as good as it is, pagespeed topics are always good to read.
Me, I respect do work going on here, but I do have something to add about pagespeed in general.

Chris and Ing Geek have some nice stuff here, I managed to get my demo newspaper content to 86/80 on GT Metrix, 61/80 on google insights, etc… and all that without Wp Super cache, or Wp rocket.

Included with those two caching plugins I managed to get above 94/90 on GTMETRIX, and 82/82 with google.

Somehow I managed to stumble on great plugin called WP Super Simple Speed.
This plugin alone, got me above 90s in GTM, and 72/86 (if i remember corectly) on Google insights.
When i included WP rocket… my website flew. I think it was something like 98/94 on gtmetrix, and above 90s in google.
But my images were not loading corectly bc of wp rockets js minify and stuff with css.
In general Expirience was awesome.

I tried to combine stuff, but i am not nearly done with testings (doing alot of combinations for 2 days) so I could use some help with this.

Thoughts?

Hi guys,
first, lil´success on a milestone:
after one day off work and the weekend solved my previous problems with login/speed. Finally got a 85/100 on google website speed insights, plus loading speed of under a second (around ,5 sec) AND nothing broken on the website so far.

How I did it?
Followed Chris functions.php tutorial (see top of this forum thread), thanks Chris. Obviously not 100 percent yet and on the mobile side of things also improved dramatically, but more to do still (60/100)

Lastly, after every single tweak I checked my site (cleared cache, went to Google website insights and double checked again, before I continue so to isolate the outcome of my input and then act accordingly. Save time, educated me better and finally improved my results so far.

Tip: Don´t do anything without a backup and make sure wen you do your speed testing you use your target market location and not California or England etc if your target market is France, Brazil etc…(you´ll aleays receive bad results, although).

My Question:
How to best use images that automatically link “back” to my pages and post as I need them?
I´ve tried via grid style however the page mode on the backend seems not to work properly or i miss something (chose the ID and the type in methods) both not really fruitfull so far.
I want to have just the images (on a grid) that are clickable? Obviously the look and feel is here very important as well as page load time.

I do not necessarily want image and post excerpt like I get when I use the post/grid style.

using newspaper 6 theme

I want to change certain things in my website http://www.careongo.com/riseup. Help me out.

1. I have used big grid 1 on the top of my homepage. I want to reduce greying effect of images in this grid. Images are appearing too dark because of greying effect.

2. Just below big grid 1, I have used news tickr on homepage. I want to shift it to the left. Basically, I want it to align with big grid to the left.

3. In header menu, i have a watch category. If I open video posts, there is lot of empty space after the video. how to reduce that?

4. Also on homepage, I want to reduce the padding between different blocks that i have used.

5. How to remove author names from blocks and big grids? As I want to remove for some posts.

Newspaper 6 no es una actualización de la versión 4. Es un rediseño interno completo del Theme, por lo tanto la manera óptima de hacerlo funcionar al 100% es realizar una instalación limpia.

¿Cómo realizar una instalación limpia de Newspaper?
– Entra en http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/themes.php
– Activa un theme diferente a newspaper
– Borra el antiguo newspaper
– Sube el archivo de Newspaper 6
– Activa Newspaper 6 e instala los plugins que vas a utilziar como speedbooster, social, etc.
– Ve a Install demos: http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=td_theme_demos
– Selecciona el estilo que quieres utilizar para tu sitio web. NOTA: NO ACTIVES “Include content” porque eso importará el contenido original del theme como imágenes y post, salvo el hecho de que quieras importarlo para trabajar sobre ellos en tu sitio web.
– Listo, ya tienes newspaper 6 funcional. Ahora tienes que ir a http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=td_theme_panel y ajustar a tu gusto con tu logotipos etc.

Te recomiendo seguir las instrucciones de las dimenciones en logotipos e imágenes que establece el theme como por ejemplo para el logo principal que sea de (272 x 90px) y no de mayores dimensiones. Esto ayudará a tener mejores tiempos de carga.

Cómo optimizar newspaper 6

El Newspaper utiliza otras dimensiones de imágenes para ciertas áreas por lo tanto es recomendable regenerar las thumbnails para que todas estén en el tamaño óptimo y funcionen a la perfección.
– Entra en http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/plugins.php
– Instalar Regenerate Thumbnails, activarlo y ponerlo a funcionar. Lo encuentras en el menú “herramientas”

Vamos a eliminar elementos no útiles con ayuda de functions.php, este archivo lo encuentras en Apariencia + editor + functions.php . Nos posicionamos hasta el final del archivo functions.php y copiamos y pegamos el siguiente código

Newspaper 6 cuenta con Speedbooster, un plugin para mejorar el rendimiento aunque no funciona en todos los sitios web ya que hay que cumplir ciertas características, como por ejemplo tiene incompatibilidad con akismet y algunos otros plugins que comúnmente se utilizan.
Si tu sitio web solo usa el plugin visual composer, entonces puedes usar speedbooster. De lo contrario usaremos otro plugin.

Desactivaremos los AVATARES de Gravatar en: Ajustes + Comentarios + retiramos la opción mostrar Avatares.
Adicionalmente puedes utilizar el plugin “WP-Usuario-Avatar” para establecer un avatar cargado desde tu propio sitio web. Esto mejora drástica mente la velocidad de carga de una entrada con comentarios.

Cómo optimizar tu instalación de wordpress

Si tienes varios plugins vamos a desactivar y borrar TODOS los plugins que no usemos ni usaremos. Recuerda que entre menos plugins tengas instalados es mas veloz tu sitio web.
– Entra en http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/plugins.php
– Instala Plugin Garbage Collector
Activamos garbage collector y lo iniciamos. Este plugin nos ayudará a borrar tablas de datos viejas para mejorar la velocidad de carga de la base de datos. Si no te permite eliminar tablas desde el plugin tendrás que hacerlo desde PHPMyAdmin y borrar manualmente las tablas en la base de datos.
– Instala plugin WP-Optimize
Activamos WPOptimize y hacemos una optimización completa de la base de datos.

Regresamos a la pestaña de plugins y desactivamos, thumbnails regenerate, garbage collector y wp-optimize.

PARA USUARIOS AVANZADOS
Entramos por FTP y editaremos el archivo wp-config.php Vamos a eliminar todos los comentarios y solo dejaremos las líneas esenciales. De este modo pesará menos y quedará algo como este ejemplo.

Para el test instalé Newspaper en un sitio de pruebas con el estilo TECH. Tengo la licencia de Zen Cache PRO y WP Rocket, aunque también probé con 2 plugins gratuitos como w3 cache y Wp Super Cache. El test fue realizado con GTMetrix, el servidor del sitio web está en españa.

NOTA: En lugar de Speed Booster recomiendo usar el plugin Above The Fold Optimization y solo excluir el archivo style.css

Newspaper 6 is not an update of the version 4. It is a complete internal redesign of Theme, so the optimal way to make it work 100% is performing a clean install.

How to perform a clean installation of Newspaper?
– Enter http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/themes.php
– Enable a different theme to newspaper
– Delete the old newspaper
– Upload the file of Newspaper 6
– Turns Newspaper 6 and install plugins you will use as SpeedBooster, visualcomposer, social, etc.
– Go to Install demos: http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=td_theme_demos
– Select the style you want to use for your website. NOTE: Do not select “Include content” because it will import the original content of the theme as images and post, except for the fact that you want to import it to work on them on your website.
– Ready, already you have 6 Functional newspaper. Now you have to go to http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=td_theme_panel and adjust to your taste with your logos etc.

I recommend following the instructions in the dimentions logos and images that set the theme as such for the main logo that is of (272 x 90px) and no larger. This will help to have better load times.

For Newspaper 6 TEST, i installed in a test site with TECH style. I have licence of Zen CAHE PRO and WP Rocket (the best cache plugins for wordpress), but also tried with 2 free plugins like w3 cache and WP Super Cache. The test was conducted with GTMetrix, the server of the website is in Spain.

NOTE: Instead of Speed ​​Booster recommend using the Above The Fold Optimization plugin and only exclude the file style.css

2. How to move next previous ajax on the top of the block as in the earlier theme, I don’t want it to be at the bottom of the block
