You should be able to edit a cloud/PRO template with TagDiv Composer plugin.
The issue can be from a plugin conflict, that’s why, please deactivate ALL plugins except tagDiv ones, also if you are using child theme or cache plugin, deactivate them, clear all cache and try again.
If this problem is not solved after that, then we need to take a look and see what happened there.

Unfortunately, you can not use a category template for a tag template, also you can not change the template type.
What you can do is to build a tag template which can look similar like a category template, or you can install a tag template from cloud.

Try to add these codes below in Newspaper -> Theme panel -> Custom code -> Custom CSS:
1. This code is for active:

.tdb-menu > li.current-menu-item > a,
.tdb-menu > li.current-menu-ancestor > a,

color: blue !important;
}

2. This code is for hover:

.tdb-menu > li:hover > a,
.tdb-menu > li.tdb-hover > a,
.tdb-menu-items-dropdown:hover .td-subcat-more {
color: red !important;
}

Please note that these codes are working only if you use a cloud/PRO templates.
For default template you can use these codes:
1. Active

.sf-menu > .current-menu-item > a,
.sf-menu > .current-menu-ancestor > a,
.sf-menu > .current-category-ancestor > a {
color: blue !important;
}

2. Hover

.sf-menu > li > a:hover,

If you need Mobile Theme, then you should install the Mobile Theme plugin.
If you want a responsive version of your website which is looking similar like on desktop, then you need to deactivate Mobile Theme.
Also, you can create mobile pages and assign for your mobile version, so your mobile version will display a design how you built in mobile pages.
Better delete your cache(also from your browser) and see the results.

You have installed Mobile theme plugin. If you created the mobile pages with TagDiv Composer, then when you install Mobile Theme plugin, your pages will be overwritten by the plugin.
The Mobile Theme is a performance optimized theme included in the Newspaper main theme and it loads only for mobile devices. It comes with it’s own templates for page, post, category, etc so your current templates from the desktop theme will get converted to the mobile theme layout. If you need your mobile version to be displayed with almost same design like in desktop version, then better deactivate the plugin and see the results.

You can change the menu by accessing Dashboard -> Appearance -> Menus, select the header menu and there you can change what a menu contain and also the item’s names.
