Newspaper 6 is a whole new theme that is released for free for all of our existing customers so an update from 4 to 6 may cause the same issues as switching to another theme (but we did try to maintain compatibility where ever possible).
Always make a full backup of your current installation – https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups and then do a clean update, meaning that we recommend that you delete the old version of the theme before uploading the new one – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ update also the plugins that come with the theme files from the /plugins folder. In the “how to update” guide is specified that you will have to run the script that will import from database your settings, will change the shortcodes… Also you have to update the child theme, please note that old files customization or custom css will not work with the new version and you will have to adjust and re-add them.

It is hard to say if that is the problem but we always recommend the latest version of our theme. Update your theme and only activate the visual composer plugin.If the problem is still there you can check if it is not a WordPress related problem. Switch to a WordPress standard theme and check the widgets menu again.

Please check this error again without any plugins. Disable all plugins except visual composer. If the problem is gone, that means one of them is interfering with the theme and must stay deactivated/deleted.

Newspaper 6 is practically a new theme, the whole code was rewritten so you have do a clean update and make sure that no old files remain. Please follow the guide suggested by Chris. Make full backup of your current installation – https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups and then do a clean update, meaning that we recommend that you delete the old version of the theme before uploading the new one. The recommended method is via FTP. Then update also the theme plugins: Visual Composer (also optional plugins Social Counter, Speed Booster if you use them).
Please note that the old custom modifications to the files or custom css will not work, you will have to adjust and re-add them. Also the shortcodes have been changed.

The option you refer to is the smart sidebar option that comes with our theme: https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-sidebar-2/. The Adsense TOS position is debatable and you can read more opinions here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/smart-bar-against-adsense-tos/.
It is not up to us if an ad in a smart sidebar is or is not allowed by Adsense. Use this option at your own risk or you can contact Adsense and ask them about it.

The block element you are pointing out is block Big grid 8. It can be added in visual composer: http://screencast.com/t/aWibBCZx3Fny. In order to add the color scheme to it you need to change the grid style.

I see your homepage is already set to a page called ‘Home’. You cannot have 2 homepages set from WordPress. You can create your own page and set it to the homepage link you added in your menu.

For example: i want to embed this video: http://screencast.com/t/le3Iz4fyP18. I get the embed code from facebook and place it in a raw html video composer element or on a post. The result: http://screencast.com/t/vEmO0Txp.
If you are trying to embed it as a featured video, you can only get featured images from Youtube or Vimeo. http://screencast.com/t/GVRiuNfHCDGq. The theme was designed like this and there is no easy way to include Facebook to this list.

You can do this by modifying the theme core files. The search widget code is located here: http://screencast.com/t/yrAd5ZjU80Xw. Just move it from ‘header-menu.php’ to ‘top-menu.php’. Insert it at the bottom of the file and the search widget should show up in the top bar.
You will need some custom css as well to position it.

You can test this with another theme. Try a WordPress default theme like twenty fifteen and see if the problem is still there. Also check any plugins you have active. Disable all of them except visual composer and test again.

Please make sure you do not have a bunch of widgets you do not use. If things get crowded up, it’s bound to get slower. Another thing you can try is to check if it’s from one of the plugins you might have. You can try to disable all of them (except visual composer) and see if the problem is still there.
