Hi, I have 2 question.
1) I am currently using v7.3 & have install Envato toolkit. When I click on update automatically I saw a warning as below:
“Updating this theme will lose any customizations you have made. ‘Cancel’ to stop, ‘OK’ to update.”
I didn’t install any child theme, modification is only on menu, pages layout etc… So can I proceed with the update?
2) How do I change the image on the ‘About Me’ page (Classic Blog theme) from the lady to my own photo?

Unfortunately, we do not have any category landing page, but you can achieve this if you are using some CSS code to hide the header and the footer for category pages. Regarding on sidebar, notice that you should use and add any widget you want to your sidebar from the panel, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/VDOGB6wB and the widgets from here -> http://screencast.com/t/pphotSL6w
The code which allows you to hide the header and the footer section for all category pages is here ->

Well the post views were not created with this in mind. Usually articles are posted as a whole and a few adjustments made here and there, but it does not take a long time usually between posting and updating. We never encountered this type of article creation before. It is surely a unique example. I will pass this info on to our development team and see if there is any solution to this for future releases.

1. On any update, just the code modifications will be replaced as files get replaced when updating. the theme panel and custom css added through the theme panel will not get modified.

The color of all the links on website is affected by the theme panel theme accent color from here: http://screencast.com/t/FKpmbuoHrS
It’s best to pick the accent color for the links and change other more static elements with css if you do not want the theme accent colors over all elements. Links are very widely spread and used on all types of situations, Dropcaps for example, not so much. They can easily be changed, but the links are very hard to target.

Moving the weather will require a bit of coding adjustment. The top menu consists of 2 files together. One is the top menu and the other is the social icons. The weather is found in the top menu file. You will have to move the widget code to the bottom of the file like so: http://screencast.com/t/REFTgwtWpjz2 – http://screencast.com/t/dHiuajXPdp9 Now you will have to switch the order in which the 2 files mentioned are loaded. Please keep in mind that our theme has a lot of header styles and if you want to do this modification you should do it inside the core file corresponding to your header style used by you. For example, if you are using the Header Style 7, you should check the theme core files, Parts->Headers and then, there you will see all the header templates, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/4PHYvgRyki and here you should add the code provided above.

I will give you an example of what I am trying to do.
I would prefer to have the dedicated Solar System page:

Because I have to use categories and want to use breadcrumbs I have to go the categories method.
I think users would prefer to go to a main page thats summarises the info than going through pages trying to find the main Solar System info page.
MY ORIGINAL WEBSITE
My original website was made in Front Page and the above link was the main Solar System page whereas now I have been forced to use Categories in order to use the Breadcrumb.
If you click on the breadcrumb its takes you to Solar System Categories page:

ONE SOLUTION
I thought of using a redirect so when a person goes to Solar System categories it takes you to the full Solar System page, but unfortunately the breadcrumbs would show the Solar System Categories page and not the dedicated Solar System page.
If Tagdiv implemented the Visual Editor in Categories – it would solve this problem and would make super power websites with Categories / Sections which simply aren’t just blog pages.
BREAD CRUMB PROBLEM
This problem gets worse when I say want to use Breadcrumbs from the Dwarf Planet Pluto, but I have omitted doing it because I can’t manually create breadcrumbs in WordPress.

I have a problem with theme panel. My theme version is 1.5 and I try to update to 3, but each time I have a lot of errors.

Hi,
The Visual Composer plugin was initially designed as a pagebuilder. You can use it also on post if you really want this as we have made some tests and we have fixed from css problems so it should work. But I personally don’t recommend this as for example you may not use some features like inline ad also the tagdiv gallery was designed more for post content,the shortcodes will appear on excerpts and so on.

Before adding any CSS in Custom Code, I always test it with the browser inspector. That was just an example with the height. I did try to increase the font size in mega menu, but without any result.
So, in order to understand, if I want to modify something concerning CSS I just have to copy/paste the css exactly as it is in Custom Code and do the modifications there. Right ?

I started since yesterday some minor modifications in CSS, by using Custom Code.
My question has nothing to do with “How to fix this” but Why the Custom Code doesn’t work in some cases.
For example I want to decrease the Breadcrumb Height. I found the following classes:
td_category_template_5 .td-scrumb-holder {
min-height: 62px;
background-color: #fcfcfc;
border-bottom: 1px solid #f2f2f2;
}
So I copied it to Custom Code with min-height: 10px;
It didn’t work. I did the same with the font size in megamenu. The same.
So before td_category_template_5 .td-scrumb-holder, do I have to put something else ?

I got a strange request from my client. He asked me to tamper with the post views in order to “keep the counted pageviews in the database, but augment the numbers the visitors see”.
Apparently his major competitors either tamper with their pageview numbers, or are heard of having created bots crawling their pages every few minutes – so that local shop owners see high numbers in pageviews and pay for advertising in their websites. And as long as everyone does it, ‘we gotta keep up with the competition’, he says. Although I personally wouldn’t go down this road, he is the boss..
So, how could I possibly perform this task?
Manually updating post views by hand won’t work – the website has a lot of traffic already and 20-30 new articles each day. I even need to have caching mechanisms to keep the site up, so I’m using the AJAX counter. I need to do this algorithmically.
I tried manipulating some files eg. the ../includes/wp-booster/td_module_single_base.php, to display a mathematically reapproached number of pageviews.
Specifically, I changed the line:
$buffy .= '<span class="td-nr-views-' . $this->post->ID . '">' . td_page_views::get_page_views($this->post->ID) .'</span>';
into the line:
$buffy .= '<span class="td-nr-views-' . $this->post->ID . '">' . floor((td_page_views::get_page_views($this->post->ID))*1.5) .'</span>';
But little did I know that this approach wouldn’t really work. Ajax counter restored the original hits plus one on each impression.
So I updated the td_ajax.php file, on that same folder. In the last function that gets the views count, I changed:
$buffy[$post_id] = td_page_views::get_page_views($post_id);
into
$buffy[$post_id] = floor(td_page_views::get_page_views($post_id)*1.5);
Do I need to spell d i s a s t e r ? 😛 With each impression of the page, the total views were multiplied by 1.5! Thankfully the experiment was contained.
So now I am out of options and I’d love to know if you have any ideas on the matter. I know that providing the final solution to this headache is probably out of scope in this forum (unless ofc there is an easy and obvious one that I can’t see), but mere suggestions that I could pursue on my own, would really really help.

On my site http://www.beautifulworld.com all of the posts are assigned to a category (country, continent). This is the primary category. Some posts are marked as featured as well and this is overiding the primary category of country/continent and changing the URL as well ! This is a problem, why is it doing this ? An example to look at it in the main menu is Europe > England > Lake District

When it is written that .js script has to be created separately and it should be called in the post, where exactly should I create the script?
Actually it would be great and really helpful if you can explain with a practical small example, best help would be to do it with my code. But if its not possible then also it would be helpful with a sample code.

I would like to know if you’ve planned in the future some sort of “fallback” solutions for related posts?
Like for example:
If there are not any related posts with the tags, automatically switch it to display some post related to the category.
And the other way around: if there are no other posts in similar categories, to go check the tags
Is this something that you have in mind for future versions?

Unfortunately, our theme does not have any such an option that allows you to change the color for each menu items and for hover effect, like to your example above, sorry! Notice that it is not a simple task and the hover effect from the menu is a very complex part of the theme which required a lot of additional customizations that involves time-consuming and the time does not allow us to do these tasks at the moment, sorry!
If you want to display more levels in our theme and if you are not aware of the steps which are needed to take in this regard, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to help you because we cannot provide custom work at the moment, sorry!

Yes, the markup was changed and now google will interpret the breadcrumbs exactly as it should have according to this guide: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/data-types/breadcrumbs
The word “home” is simply your homepage name. Change it from home to something else like for example the name of your site and then you will see on google the breadcrumbs containing the name of your site instead of ‘home’
