you don’t need to do anything with the theme at this time, as the plugin being updated by Automattic is theme agnostic and they have the manpower and connections with Google and are keeping it moving forward for their VIP clients (e.g., TIME magazine, etc.).

Newsmag and Newspaper both WORK with the plugin just fine, so at this time nothing theme authors need to “do” as long as nothing being injected into header to “break” the /amp/ functionality.

Example with Newsmag (a few versions back, and not fully optimized due to me messing with mod_pagespeed and trying to move server to https/2 and realizing we need full OS reload, which I’m not quite ready to do yet due to having to offload all sites, update server, then reload sites! UGH!!!)::

So, at this time — I’m “suggesting” you might make this thread a sticky one, and/or add to tutorials as you will be getting a lot of forum posts on this as Google rolls this out ostensibly for March 1.

Nobody “has to do this” — but many folks will “want to do this” — hence my adding this thread so we don’t see 50 posts next month on this same topic 😉

Lastly, is it possible to clone a page?

I don’t think it can be caused by a plugin? I don’t have many plugins installed.

I tried to deactivate the plugins, but the issue still persist. But i can see, the issue does only persist in Safari? What to do :)?

Thank you for the reply, we deactivated w3 Total cache plugin, re-activated it, emptied cache, disabled & re-enabled minification (including Java Script) to see if that was causing any js errors. Now it seems images are loading again (I hope its not a temporary effect & they dont go back to not loading at all).

Would really appreciate if you take a quick look to see if you still see any js errors

Also, since images are now appearing, please see if you can help with my original query about all images loading together after a noticeable delay.

By default on archive page you can’t use the page-builder from Visual Composer. However you can use do_sortcode function to display blocks on archive page. First you need to get the shortcode from Visual Composer: http://screencast.com/t/vDPzUEldhk – http://screencast.com/t/lqxAJrJcjwn0 then paste it into the indicated function like here: http://screencast.com/t/GgZz9psSiVv

This code will display a block 6 on archive page: http://screencast.com/t/4LDqqUUah This is just a basic example but you can customize it in many different ways.

Sorry for misunderstanding.
The above solutions works only when a category page it’s displayed. If you want to change the header ad for o post from a specific category then you need to use the in_category() function. Here is a basic example for caribbean and destinations categories on my side: http://screencast.com/t/NDVOIEvs1bg

This code will load a different header ad for all posts which belong to caribbean and destinations categories.
Note: if you want to change the ad for a post from a specific category the required function is in_category() but if you want to change it for a category page then you have to use is_category().

You can add a specific class on the block from which you want to hide the row, in Visual Composer: http://screencast.com/t/MkIn5STfXU then use it in css to tarket only that specific row like in this example:

SHOULD YOU DO IT OR NOT?
Note that adding AMP support is *not* necessary, required, and might not even be the best solution to add to your site for mobile, if you already have a well optimized mobile post setup, want to retain certain plugins, social links and ads, which might not translate well to the AMP format.

For example, initially you might have poor ad support, so if revenue is your main metric, this is something you’ll want to play with, or wait until it is more mature.

Google will start support on Feb. 24, 2016.

AMP IS NOT SUPPORTED BY MANY YET, GOOGLE AND ONE OTHER VENDOR I KNOW OF.
So, for example if your main audience were on Apple iOS, primarily using Safari, might not make sense to worry about this just yet! 🙂

We’ve been using/testing AMP since November *with* the Newsmag theme and works perfectly.

You need to go to the wordpress.org plugin repository and download the AMP plugin from Automattic (the poeple who make WordPress). This plugin is being developed with Google feedback and for VIP WordPress sites.

Right now it only supports “posts” and not “pages” but they are working on it for upcoming release.

If you wish to setup AMP for your site, you should get the PLUGIN and read the docs to setup for your site.

ADMIN: you may wish to add sticky post (*not* this one, perhaps) regarding AMP support, link to the AMP site and the AMP plugin page.

Thanks for the reply Chris. We’re looking into some of the options you’ve listed. Was just wondering if there was a mode that would clean up the additional “theme specific” JS & CSS that’s entered inside the HTML in addition to the .CSS & .JS files that are loading.

I’m a fan of wordpress really… but I’m really starting to get disgusted by the way each plugin integrates it’s own CSS & JS files without an easy solution to compile data to load one single compile file vs. 20 different individual ones (sorry venting :D)

Submitted our site to the showcase but the site is still in development mode but once it’s gone live I think it can be a nice visual to showcase some customization work applied through child theme.

I checked the header style used and it’s correct (In my case I am using Header Style 7) So I am asuming this style won’t suddenly change between posts so there is no need to modify any other header style, is that correct?

I tried what you told me, but it’s not working either, (actually If I use the category names instead of the category slug, the script doesnt work in any case) I tried using the category names, the category slugs, changed the order and still it shows the default header banner but in the category pages I modified before the script works…

The Files I have modified are “ads.php”, “header-style-7.php”, “td-config” & “td-panel-ads” (the last ones to add more custom ad spaces) is there any other file (or files) that I need to modify in this case?

By the way, I am modifying the Newspaper Theme not the Newsmag.
