Hello,
This could be a plugin conflict so please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
Thank you!
Hello lewinandreilly,
If you want to remove the background image effect, you should use the code below and place it in Theme panel-> Custom CSS Area.
The code is ->
.td-module-thumb a:last-child:before{
display:none!important;
}
The result is here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/AXrI62XYwPIV
Thanks for the message!

Hello Gil Poulsen,
Unfortunately, the mobile theme cannot be overwritten in the child theme, sorry! If you want to edit the functions for mobile theme, you should edit the following theme core file, like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/WXkWK5ii6qM
I suppose that you do not understand very good how mobile theme works, right? So, please notice that this theme concept intend to display a Big Grid feature at the top of homepage which shows the posts which are included in Featured category, then will show a text which you added in Mobile Editor in Visual Composer from backend and at the very bottom of the page you will bring the Latest Articles module. Please keep in mind that the Mobile Theme do not recognize the Visual Composer shortcode and that’s why you did not get the demo style for mobile theme. So, for more information about our mobile theme, please check the documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/ If you are unhappy with this layout, and if you want to have the similar structure with our demo mobile, you will simply turn off the mobile plugin and the theme will be automatically switched to the general responsive mobile mode.
Thanks for your understanding!

Hi, I am using the mobile theme and it works great! I appreciate how you added a special block on the page admin to insert specific elements for the mobile pages. I am just curious about the functions.php file; I had to add a function to it so that my shortcode would work in posts displayed in the mobile theme, so I created newspaper-child/mobile/functions.php and added the code there, but it turns out I had to do it in newspaper/mobile/functions.php, which is fine except that your next update is going to wipe out my change. Is there a way to do this in the child theme so that my mods are retained following a theme update? Thanks for any guidance you can provide.
Hello,
After failing to upload the zip file as I use to, I read here to upload through ftp.
Well, it didn’t work the same. Here the result:
Broken Themes
The following themes are installed but incomplete.
Name Description
Newspaper Template is missing. Standalone themes need to have a index.php template file. Child themes need to have a Template header in the style.css stylesheet. Delete
What should I do?
Hello dinkymonkey,
I have inspected your website and I saw that you are not using the latest version of the theme, you ar using the child theme and also, the required plugins are not updated, sorry! First of all, you should update your theme to the latest version of it which is 7.7, update the Visual Composer to 5.0.1, move the theme to the main theme, revert it to the default state, clear all your additional customizations, clear all your caches and check the results. For more information about theme update, please consult here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ and the guide for Visual Composer update, check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thanks for your understanding!

If this does not fix it, you can try to reinstall the theme as a faulty theme install can also create such an error. Please use this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/

Hi,
I suggest to disable all the plugins except Visual composer, clear the cache and purge cdn files if you use it. Also try to deactivate your child theme to rule that out, and check any custom code you may have added to the theme files. If the problem is no longer there activate the child theme to see if that is causing this. If not, activate the plugins one at a time and check to see the effects. Here is an tutorial if you decide to update the theme to the latest version – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Thanks

Please check to see if there are any redirects being made in your htaccess file. Also deactivate all your plugins except Visual composer, clear your cache and purge cdn files. Please also check any custom code you may have entered in theme panel or added to the theme files. If you are using a child theme switch to the main theme.

Hello!
I’ve seen that this issue has happened to many people, but I believe this is a different situation, since it only happens on the Newspaper theme. I’ve tried a default theme from WordPress and the images upload just fine.
I’ve just installed WordPress and the theme, so everything’s fresh and up to date. I care to mention that:
- The images are optimized – no large files or anything like that;
- The names of the images are written properly, without any strange characters in them;
- I’m not using WP Smush or EWWW Image Optimizer, which are known to cause this issue. I just have iThemes Security, BackWPup and Visual Composer at the moment, which I disabled and still got the issue;
- I’ve set the memory limit to 64MB, and even up to 96MB, but the issue still occurs;
- Everything in the theme’s System Status is green and properly set;
- I’ve switch to the parent theme from the child theme, but still no difference;
- Suhosin is not installed on the host.
Ran out of options here :D. Let me know if you need more info or the WordPress admin credentials to check the situation yourselves.
Thank you!
Best wishes,
Radu

Hello dobryidesign,
Below, I gave you a code which is applied to your first Big Grid at your homepage which is Big Grid Style 4. Try the code below and place it in Theme panel->Custom CSS area.
.td-grid-style-4 .td-module-thumb a:last-child:before{
display:none!important;
}
@media (min-width: 1025px){
.td-grid-style-4.td-hover-1 .td-module-thumb:before {
display:none!important;
}
}
The code is -> https://www.screencast.com/t/ZCrV0W6KQp

Hello,
Please check one more thing. If you are using a child theme, remove it and only use the main theme. If you use an old child theme and update your theme without updating the child as well, the theme will break.
If you still cannot manage to update properly, please contact us via email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide a link to your site, wp-admin with administrator rights and ftp access.
Thank you!
Hello,
It will affect future updates only if the post template files are changed (not very often) The post template files are not changed often but you should still be careful on each update to check the list of modified files. With every child theme modification you must replace the file in your child theme that is modified on a theme update. We release a list of modified files on each update so users know which one they shgould replace in their child theme.
Thank you!
On our theme, the menu item that is the farthest to the left drops down just fine. But, if the drop down menu item has a submenu, the sub menu opens, but is cut off and you can barely see it. If that submenu has a child option, it opens to the left insted of the right and can be seen just fine. Is there a way to make it so that it will open the submenu item will open to the left instead of to the right?
So here is an example of the drop down menu and the an item in that drop down having a submenu.

As you can see, it opens the menu to the right and menu is almost cut off to point to where its barely seen.
Then if you hover over the item below that, that item has a submenu as well and it opens to the left coming fully into view on the site.

How can I get that first item to either open and not get cut off, or open to the left instead of to the right so that its visible. I tried adding a z-index to several different things but had no luck.

Hi,
not sure why the link isn’t there if I included in my previous message
So here your are : https://1drv.ms/f/s!AkIZ0iKtBNnXl5RlJ83w8BnElQLEnA
Just to point you to the right direction. I know how that the child theme won’t work with no activated main theme and I know how to upload files/folders via FTP. I also knew that it has to do something with my current code of my child theme because if I uploaded the default child-theme along with the new version of the Newspaper theme it looks like it works. I was just disappointed that I have to modify my child-theme after the theme update.
I haven’t had time to figure out what piece of code is causing it but I wanted to get the activation issue sorted in order to get the auto update working. I am curious if it will cause the same issue regarding the child-theme.
Can you please fix the activation issue in order for me to try to update your theme the automated way and if it will stop my child-theme from working I will try to figure out what piece of code is causing as I don’t remember exactly if it was the style sheet or the function.php where I don’t have much of the code anyway.
Thank you
