Hello. On my website TheAEGISAlliance.com I have a few custom post types. I have code in functions.php that allows the custom post types to display in the category and tag pages.
I have some post blocks on the desktop version of the front page on my website created with the TD Composer that users are able to click on a category and view recent posts under those categories. But, on the front page, posts in custom post types aren’t displaying in these categories on the front page.
Is there some code I can add to functions.php to make them display? Or are there settings I don’t know about? I’m using the Newspaper child theme.
Please help. Thank you.
When adding custom post types to my template they use the default theme template (wp-content/themes/Newspaper/loop-single.php) file instead of the themes post template.
This includes a very different layout and does not include a header image or sidebar or sharing tools or a lot of the other stuff related to the basic post template. Note that it is not using the template set in Post Settings -> Default post template (site wide) but rather a generic template set in the theme.
I have tried many different settings in the theme panel under Posts Settings ->Custom Post Types and Under CPT & Taxonomy for each post type.
Ideally the ability to create a custom cloud template for each post type or at least inherit the default template.
I know WordPress and how to make a custom child template file single-customposttype.php but then I will end up writing a lot of code just to make it inherit stuff form the main template file, like share buttons, colour coded categories …etc.
Sure,
here it comes.
https://www.childhood-business.de/cb_marken/il-gufo/
It would be great if this might become a feature in the CPT area of the theme panel one day. Why not having an option there to stear such central options in one place?
If you can advise how I can make the date disappear on a page like the one mentioned in my sample link, I will be grateful.
Kind regards, Martin

Hi everyone !
I’m using Newspaper theme for a client website.
For this specific website I wrote custom code into theme’s files for example in :
functions.phpheader.php- Woocommerce templates
- …
The problem I encounter right now is that when I upgrade Newspaper theme version, all custom codes I wrote on those files disapear.
I read the documentation about child theme so I just have this folder in my theme folder :
themes/Newspaper
Should I create a child folder like this : themes/Newspaper-child ?
What’s the best way to upgrade the theme and keep my custom code without deleting them ?
Thanks so much for your replies !
I meant remove mode-less.js and text.js errors following your advice, seeking for a plugin conflict and enable and disable td plugins and rising memory.
Theme is up to date because it was a migration (coming from IonMag) and it was tested in a vagrant machine without any of these new problems.
Child theme package was extracted from last update.
I must to recheck everything if nginx pagespeed module could be messing in these issues. I’ll update here as soon as have some time to test it.
Thank you Calin and have a nice weekend.
