Hi there,
I just purchased the Newspaper theme and I installed the Newspaper 6 demo into WordPress. Everythign with the install went fine, but when I go to view my site, the images on the home page different than the ones shown in all of the video tutorials. Also- the images on the big slider on the homepage have a grey overlay to them. For example, rather than seeing the face of the blond girl like the examples show, my homepage shows an image of a bridge. Please help!
Thanks!
Sorry for jumping in, but again it’s related 🙂
You can make a similar smart list by selecting post template 7 and then selecting smart list 3 in the “smart list” tab in your post settings.
You start the post with a H3 heading then add your image below (I use 300×350) if I have a sidebar on the page then add your text below that, your next section of the post follows below that in the same format so your H3 heading for the next step in the article acts as your page break. If you follow? So it goes like this…
H3 heading (page break)
300×350 image
Your article text
H3 heading (page break for 2nd page)
300×350 image
Your article text
H3 heading (page break for 3rd page)
300×350 image
Your article text
H3 heading (page break for 4th page )
300×350 image
Your article text
You get the same effect but it does look a little cramped with a small image and not a lot of space for text if you have the sidebar active.
I can’t get my Google ads to show at the bottom of the post for some reason even though they are set to show in post and at the top and bottom of a post. Maybe you can add a large image to fill the top part of the container and then push the text and a square Google ad as shown in the link so it sits beside the text? I haven’t tried that yet.
This method used to be shown on the demo but doesn’t seem to be on there now, not sure why that is? Maybe it’s obsolete or had problems???????
I’ve just tried to disable the sidebar and this makes the post full width. You can do this by disabling the sidebar in the post settings by altering the sidebar position
I’m guessing if you use a larger image and change the style of the pagination then the only other thing you need is a way of adding a Google ad to this specific post type or adding one in the editor? Not sure how you do that as I’m new to ads but I’ll give it a try
Anyway, it’s a start 🙂

Hi,
I’m not sure what you mean. Do you refer to the twitter share button on posts? – http://screencast.com/t/FrWyQrH0ig
The theme doesn’t control the open graphs data, you will have to use a plugin like Seo by Yoast for this, we also use it on our demo.
The twitter id is the site name because this is the default state of the theme when a twitter name is not provided in the theme panel like so http://screencast.com/t/1jthsOih
If this is not what you mean please provide more details.
Thanks!

Hi
I’ve checked your site on mobile device and the logo it’s between the menu button and search form: http://screencast.com/t/O7o66VC7WpE This is the original design for logo on mobile devices, we have the same design on our demo: http://screencast.com/t/AEF6shEA
If you need a different implementation you can look for a developer as unfortunately we cannot offer custom work as we work hard on the development, updates, fixes and support.
Thanks!
Hi
The pingback_url parameter should displays the pingback XML-RPC file url: http://screencast.com/t/l39D6FZuw9Q but in your case the url it’s empty. This issue could be caused by a plugin so you could try by deactivating all, leave just Visual Composer active, clear the cache ant test again.
Regarding the css errors these appear because it’s not recommended to use css code inside div tags.
The theme generate a custom css for each block, depending by user’s options, but this code cannot be included in style.css file. This problem it’s present on our demo too: http://screencast.com/t/XDK7S2xZytif but does not affect the page load.
Thanks!
Hello,
The newspaper theme is a bit different from newsmag as it does not include that specific template but you can recreate it on pages in visual composer, although it will look slightly different. You have to use the homepage post element like so – http://screencast.com/t/7bKQ4kx6 and this is the result – http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/homepage-one-top-post/
Another way is you can add a background image to the row using Visual Composer settings and create something similar like the travel demo – http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper_travel/ – http://screencast.com/t/msgwHI0oB and customize it – http://screencast.com/t/ueYDvf2ic also you can add an extra class to the row and use custom css.
Thank you.
Hello Jefekoi,
The demo sidebars were created as a sample, unfortunately you cannot change their name but you can easily create your own sidebar as shown in the documentation here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/sidebars-and-widgets/
You can delete the demo one if you want and replace it with your own.
Thank you.
ok, we have found it but design is very ugly like this
how o make it like your default design as http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/tabs/?
Hello
We have tried very hard to find it but failed, could you please tell me where to create a tab block like this?
http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/tabs/
we want to put it in hoempage
thanks
We really like how the image is full bleed, i.e. it takes up entire width of screen for either the post or front page per the demo below:
http://demo.tagdiv.com/newsmag_fashion/
http://demo.tagdiv.com/newsmag/homepage-with-a-post-featured/
http://demo.tagdiv.com/newsmag/homepage-fashion/
Is this possible in Newspaper? I haven’t been able to see a way in the demo.
Thanks!
Ray

Hi,
Theme doesn’t handle og: meta data we also use a plugin for this on our demo – Seo by Yoast. You can check if og: data are properly in page source. Also I have checked this and how you can see when you share on facebook, it shows the right image – http://screencast.com/t/JZdv2fkngW
I guess it must be a google share issue please check this topic maybe will help – http://stackoverflow.com/questions/28957215/google-plus-share-dialog-showing-wrong-image-using-opengraph-meta-tags
Thanks!
HI,
I’ll try to help you out, here is what you should try:
– inspect the log files for errors (errorlog). Hopefully we can get at least a waning or a fatal error. If no errors are in the log.. then it’s a bit more complicated.
– it may be some conflict with one of the save_post hooks in the theme. You can find all of them here: http://screencast.com/t/lzbje8fYH8pl . Try to comment them all and see if the plugin manages to post. (You have to comment the lines that starts with add_filter(‘save_post’, ) .
– also please try to disable all other plugins (we’ve seen some weird stuff 🙂 on some plugins)
We have a couple of custom made scripts that add posts pragmatically (we use them when we make the online demos) and they do work with our theme as expected. Also the auto import feature of the theme ads posts via code.

Hi @luxelifeatl,
Please check our documentation to see how you can add a background image for your site – https://forum.tagdiv.com/background-introduction/ Also you can add a background image/color for each category – http://screencast.com/t/WS6ffcdNIdNl The articles from that specific category inherit that background.
Please provide more details if this is not what you mean. Also you can install the theme’ demos to make an idea about this and please read documentation.
Thanks!
Hi,
The Big Grid blocks are not sliders and you need custom modifications to change this and it is not an easy task. I suggest to hire a freelancer to do this for you as we cannot provide custom work, sorry.
You can use use Big Grid Slider if you want to use a slider – http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/big-grid-slide/
Thanks!
Hi,
The theme doesn’t have such a header style, you can achieve this only with custom modifications to a header template or you can try to use a full logo header style – http://screencast.com/t/syHryQiixTj and full image for logo – http://screencast.com/t/g9pNJ9Y9Z9UU
If you you want this only for pages you can add a background image to the row using Visual Composer settings and create something similar like the travel demo – http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper_travel/ – http://screencast.com/t/msgwHI0oB and customize it – http://screencast.com/t/ueYDvf2ic also you can add an extra class to the row and use custom css.
Thanks!
Good morning,
When I try to install the new ‘Health and Fitness’ demo with content, I receive the following error message:
Ajax error. Cannot connect to server, it may be due to a misconfiguration on the server.

My hosting company believe this to be a theme error, but have said they will try to fix the problem if you can provide instructions.
Please advise.

Hi,
You have to add your links in Theme Panel > Social Networks – http://screencast.com/t/UZj5G3ITS – http://screencast.com/t/i5sjHr70k2j also please clear cache maybe it is a caching issue.
I have checked your site and you don’t have any links added there, only # – used also on our demo to appear social icons – http://screencast.com/t/NlJDFoGRRmx
If you still have issues with this, pleas also check if your panel settings are saved. Try to change something for category page or enable/disable some setting and see if it works.
Thanks!
hello,
I’m having problems setting my home page to look like the demo please advise how to maximize my background like it is shown in the demo for newspaper 6. Also I would like to set a load page with showreel and a click to enter button before going to the home page of the site.
Thank you Chris.
But I don’t know how to increase the memory… I installed demos, but doesn’t work too.. Could you intervene for me?
Unfortunately I spoke too soon. I have updated to the latest version of Newspaper and have the exact same problem when trying to load the Health and Fitness demo materials. I have contacted you by email but have had no reply. This is most frustrating!
Hi Emil,
Thanks for your reply but i’m afraid that none of them worked 🙁
I have put both in the style.css of my child team as shown below but it still looks the same. Also i’ve noticed that on your screengrab http://screencast.com/t/2W93kIfgMAxm it appears that your image is in the background of the Add area and not of the menu itself, your menu (where your little 6 logo is) is still black, that is where i want my background image to go please 🙂
Here’s my site: http://fuzzy-yellow.com/
/*

/* Change Menu Background Image*/
.td-header-style-4 .td-header-header {

}
/* Change Menu Items to the Right*/
#menu-td-demo-header-menu-1{

Hi,
1. Try the following css: – http://screencast.com/t/2W93kIfgMAxm
.td-header-style-4 .td-header-header {
background: white url('http://imgscenter.com/images/2014/09/13/Beauty-of-nature-random-4884759-1280-800.jpg') no-repeat;
background-size:cover;
}
2. Use the following css: – http://screencast.com/t/BoHwgXSBsW
#menu-td-demo-header-menu-1{
display: table;
float: none;
margin-left: auto;
margin-right: 0;
}
Thank you!
