When I view my site on my phone the slider text gets all bunched up and covers most of the slider. Is there a way to remove the slider just on mobile. I want to keep the responsive for desktops/tables, but just have the homepage slider disappear when viewed on a mobile phone.

We have tried to make this but that implementation have some limitation, sorry about that. You can configure the big slider on that homepage somehow directly from file but the configuration will be the same for each page.
This is the file where you have to edit http://screencast.com/t/jd0Hx9GrYZs and you can add filters like this:

Another bug I guess. Unique articles is a great feature and is one of the reasons I purchased this theme. However, if you set your homepage (or any page) like the demo did, with a block in the widget area to show latest posts, when you enable Unique articles, the LATEST block will be empty. Same in the tagdiv slide widget.
Of course you can use WP native Recent Post widget without problem.
I am not sure if any switch I should use?
(Newspaper 3.1.1, WordPress 3.8.1, XAMPP.)

Apologies if this has been asked before, I couldn’t spot the answer.
I have two different publication’s content on my website and I want to create a homepage for each of them. I currently use tags and categories to filter out the content for each.
For these pages I want to have the Big Slider with the background much like the page template “Homepage – bg – no article list” or “Homepage – bg + article list”
The problem is when I do that there doesn’t seem to be the option to filter the big slider by specific tag or category.
The alternative is to create a blank page and use the big slider module on it. But in that situation there is no option to have the background behind it.
Please could you show me a fix for this?

Also the homepage seems to be stuck in 3/4 mode for all visual editor blocks 🙁

I am using the Homepage + Article List and I want to only display about 4 Latest Articles on the homepage. It provides that option. Now when clicking the ‘Next’ button on the bottom of Latest Article on homepage, it only displays 4 on the next page. How do I go about having about 9 posts on the ‘Next’ page?
Hello, i just installed the theme and have been using the page builder to make a full width homepage however the big slider does not pull any images and only shows the text bounding box for one of the articles it is pulling.

We used on our demo:
Sort order: Sort like you want
Limit post number: 3
Optional – custom title for this block: DON’T MISS
Show child categories menu: Show 3 categories
Use ajax in child categories menu: Next prev ajax (this is the pagination)

I have created my Homepage but when I try to click on “Manage Sidebars” I get a You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page error message.
I have contacted my hoster who tells me that it isn’t a problem they can see.
They asked me to check the following:
You will want to verify with the theme author that it does not require the exec() / exec.php or url_fopen functions, as both of those have been disabled on Synthesis hosting for security reasons.
Can you answer this, and also can you suggest any way to fix this problem?

@madox56 It looks like the themes html is compressed by some kind of plugin or mod_pagespeed. Can you disable mod_pagespeed or the page minifaction plugin that you are using?
Please let know if it works after disabling mod_pagespeed.
If you use the blank homepage + pagebuilde it will work also… for SEO I do not know how that will affect your rating but I think it will be better if we manage to sort this problem out for you. (I really like sites with pagination 🙂 and i think Google likes them too )
I am studying your demo. Using the Visual Composer, I have copied the “Home” page exactly adding the “Big Slide” and “Block 2”.
I am using “Homepage – with article list” template.
The problem is besides my “Latest Articles”, I don’t see “Stay Connected” and “Latest”, it’s just blank.
While on the demo, it’s there.
Did you customize the “Default sidebar”?
