On Settings > Media page of my website on which I have installed Newspaper 7 theme, it does not show correct thumbnail sizes. It shows Thumbnail size as 0x0, Medium size as 0x0 (max) and Large size as 0x0 (max). Please see the screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xmshnrziuismtq4/Screenshot%202016-05-25%2013.48.06.png?dl=0

So, the thumbails are not properly generated, when I upload a new image.

Hi.

I have enabled all the thumbnails sizes for the blocks, but the web page never show the correct image size.

Do I have to make any additional configuration?

Thank you.

Hi

I’ve checked your site and noticed that the images used for module 16 are not cut at the right sizes, that’s why the page layout it’s affected. Try to regenerate your thumbnails following this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/

Thanks!

Hello,

I have set up inline ads from the theme panel -> ADS section.

I have two issues, that might be related.

First: When adding the google ad code, and setting up all options for the inline ad (paragraph, size, etc), after clicking on “Save” button the spinner would go forever and options will not be saved. I fixed this by removing the “<script>” tags, as I assumed that the scripts are being loaded already for header ad. After this, the ad could be saved successfully and displayed properly on articles.

Second: I could not solve this. When I attempt to change all sizes (for example 200×200 instead of Auto) and set the ad position to left or right floated, the ad stops working. Sometimes it is not displayed anymore, sometimes it keeps displaying with full-width as before.

I could not find a way to make it work. The code for the ad still remains as the <ins> part, but without <script> tags.

Any known issues about this? I am attaching an image of how the ad panel looks:

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

1) If a video is not repsonsive it means the implementation is not done correctly. Please only use the video url and paste inside the post content. You most likely get a fixed width for your video and a fixed width is not repsonsive. Please provide a link to your site pointing to such a video so i can inspect it.

2) Using a small featured image is not a good idea as our mofules and blocks need thumbnails created from images that are at least the size of the featured image. if your image is smaller than the thumb needed for a particular block, then a grey area will display to fill in the gap. We recomend using at least a 800 x 600 image for optimal results. Here is a list of thumb sizes used in our theme: https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/
If you still want to use small images, then please proivide an example and i will provide the proper css for centering them. (different post styles display the featured image differently: https://forum.tagdiv.com/post-templates-2/ )

Thank you!

Hi,
The mobile theme auto-sizes the ads automatically that is why you cannot select a fixed size for them. Test this out with a predefined ad and you will see the results:

Thank you!

First you should try to use larger images
tagdiv crop the image into different sizes for different blocks
incase if your image is smaller than the image size recommended for a block it will not show a decent picture
but if you have migrated from another theme rebuilding all your images may solve the issue
Install this plugin
AJAX Thumbnail Rebuild

Hello yachtsailingcharter,

Please check your images to have the right sizes for your block and grid thumbs. I said this, because your uploaded images are too smaller than your thumbs and the theme does not enlarge the images but only cropped them. So, if you don’t have the possibility to upload large images you could use a combination of plugins to upscale the thumbs – Thumbnail Upscale and Force Regenerate. For more information about these kinds of plugins, please consult their documentation here -> https://wordpress.org/plugins/thumbnail-upscale/ -> https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/ Also, please ensure that the functionalities of these plugins are not affected by the other untested plugins that could create interference through the theme. Please notice that these types of plugins are not tested with our theme and we cannot provide support for the theme. We recommend them because a lot of our customer uses and they were satisfied to their functionality.

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Also, if your problem is still there after these changes, please provide your website URL so I can inspect it closer.

Thanks.

Let me start by saying that your V7 is awesome! Some little errors here and there, but I will not write-in about those because I am sure that you see them as well and that you are already working on it.

Great work! Great support! You are my favourite.

—————

I have a problem with all thumbnails. I switched from a totally different theme to yours, regenerated thumbnails and the correct size are created and available on the server.

But (as an example) Block 1 or Block 2 do not pull in 300x160px or 324x160px but they end-up pulling a sized-down version of my original 1230x820px and resize that to 240x160px.

Again, both correct Block thumb sizes are created and I did regenerate/force regenerate 4 times. But I alays only get a size-variant of the original aspect ratio, never a cropped image.

I have no errors in the console.

There seems to be something stuck in the loop!?

Hello efaq,

1)As I have explained you above, the block buttons are made them with some custom rule. Also, please notice that the main element is WP Custom menu from Visual Composer, this have a custom class named .td-menu-blocks-custom Also, you have to make your own desired menu from Appearance->Menu from WP panel and then you have to use this visual Composer element with this custom class to get the Custom CSS design, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/i834fsDw -> http://screencast.com/t/Th9oEVLMM -> http://screencast.com/t/WWt2yabWiMv and as an example result -> http://screencast.com/t/7Mtx3fdFGNRd

2)So, please notice that our theme uses a lof of thumbs and sizes to display the featured images. Please check this -> http://screencast.com/t/mKgjef3g5UFF and there you can see a list with our modules and what kind of modules are used in our blocks and also, which of them are enabled or which not. Also, from the Thumbs on modules & Block, you will turn off some options for size and that size are used in some blocks that are active, the featured image will not be shown because the thumbs for this type of block are deactivated. I hope that you understand by explanation.

3)Also, if you want to add some link in our footer section, you have to use a footer template that allows you to make it as you wish, for example, the footer template style 5 and then you have to use a bit of HTML code to add a link, using this syntax -> http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_links.asp

Thank you for your understanding!

Hello! Slowly my new website is gaining form. I gave three little problems at the moment, for which I would ask for your help.

website: http://goodlife.visitar-praga.com.pt

1) Mouse over items of menu in the front page doesn’t change the letters colors. In a post they change color on mouse over. Can we fix this? I wouldn’t like to have this change (only in the menu)

2) Could you please take a look at this screen shot? Why is that happening? I regenerated all images and I believe I have all thumbnail sizes of the theme activated.
http://www.screencast.com/t/go3AvY1K

3) Now, I don’t know if this is normal, but at least to me it’s not convenient. Again about hover effects. If the mouse goes near the tag there is a preliminary effect. It’s not convenient at all. Then when the mouse is actually over the tag the effect is correct. Possible to fix?

Thanks for all !

Hey Catalin,

Maybe I’m not explaining it the right way to you.
I’m not using a 700px image. I upload every image with a size of 1920 x 1080px. I understand that the theme makes different sizes images.

On the homepage I use block 4. The theme uses the 324x160px created images for this block. For bigger screens you have 3 posts next to eachother on regular sized screens. Looks perfect. For the smaller screens you get one post under another screen wide. This works perfect to.

Unless the screen is between about 400px and 750px. You still get one post under another screen wide, but because the theme uses the 324x160px created image, that small image has to cover a width of up to 750px on for example a tablet. And thats when it looks bad. And that’s what I want to fix.

Hello VoZz,

Please notice that our theme only crops the image on the specific size of thumb used. The cropping system for our theme is from center to top. Please check your Theme panel, Block Settings Area->Thumbs on modules&Block and there you can see what sizes are active for your thumbs. If you have an image for example ->700px, the theme will generate a lot of images for each size of the thumbs -> http://screencast.com/t/l46FxjpPQk and this will be used if the specific thumb when this will be used on the theme. Please notice that the theme does not stretch or enlarge the image, but only just cut out. Here you can see the path where the theme generates all the images for all the sizes which are activated from the panel -> http://screencast.com/t/fvhsTwqYar4

Thank you for your understanding!

Hi,
Unfortunately there is no easy way to do this. The theme was created to add thumbs to every image you upload. In order to reduce thumbnail sizes, you can deactivate any unused thumbnails from here: http://screencast.com/t/zLjEjE9z9I and then use the force regenerate plugin.
Thank you!

Dear,

How to Generate Thumbnails only for Featured Images?

I would like to know if there is a simple way to create thumbnail sizes only for images that I intend to use as featured images, but not for the images used in the posts. My main goal is reduce server space usage by not creating thumbnails that my theme will never use.

Thanks

Hey guys,

For my homepage I’m using Block 4. For my category page Module M2. Everything looks great on both big and smaller screens. My question is about the display of the featured images in smaller to medium sized screens. Up until a width of about 768px the theme still uses the 324x160px generated image. As the image is as wide as the screen, this results in a very ugly low res thumb from about 400px to 768px width. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this?

Hi,
I’m having problem getting this to work properly. The thumbnails are not generated as I wish. Tried to use different sizes of featured images but it seems it behaves randomly.
I installed demo on our dev server and it works ok. I tried use image sizes as in the demo (800×533) but on my site even this size doesn’t work. What am I doing wrong? The website Im talking about is https://pokerground.com/en

Hi,
Instead of paying money to a developer to modify the theme files and having to re-add the modifications on updates (custom modifications are not update proof even if a child theme is used) why not select another block for your content that uses a different thumbnail like for example: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/block-6/
Please try to select different blocks from the menu to see how they display images. There are 21 blocks to chose from and each have different image sizes.
Thank you!

Okay – thank you.

Would you recommend hiring a developer to change the the image sizes? They don’t actually need to be bigger width/height – just a bit taller approx. 25px. and it only concerns the images that have this size. See attached file.

Bogdan B.

Hello,
Unfortunately thumbnail sizes cannot be changed so easy as they are fixed and set by us to align properly with the rest of the content. If you want to have bigger images on blocks, then simply chose a block that displays a bigger thumbnail. You can see see different content blocks here: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/block-1/ If you are referring to the big image at the top of your page, that is a custom added image, not a featured image. You can edit that element by editing the page in visual composer.
Thank you!

Hi

Where do I change the image sizes in Newspaper? I would like the featured images to be a bit taller here for example on the frontpage of our website – https://metteogmartinrejser.dk/

Thanks in advance

Hi,
These elements are not visual composer elements but theme specific ones.
The first issue with the images is a simple one. You need to use images that are bigger than the container. Check your image sizes and the containewr size. The theme does not strewtch images, it only crops them. If your image is smaller than the container, then you need to upload a bigger one for it to display properly. Please follow this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
For the second issue with the excerpts, please filter your excerpts by letters here: http://screencast.com/t/zZhUXQPR because your language does not use spacing between words. If this is the case, the theme will think all of the post content is just one big word.
Thank you!

IMO, the error is somewhat related to the theme since the theme generates a LOT of different image resizes.
The HTTP error is a 500 error and happens after only a few seconds in my case. Testing with a 10×10 image I am able to upload, so it appears that the issue is a timeout or overrunning the memory allocation from host.

On a failure, some, but not all, image resizes are generated (can view in file system). The image will be listed in the WP media library, but the thumbnail size for the library hasn’t been generated so just a default file placeholder is shown. Various sizes are accessible via direct http access.

Unfortunately I don’t have access to error log in this case to provide more detail.
Note that previously I have uploaded images successfully.
