Hello.
I have just purchased and installed Newspaper 6.
When I go to Pages Add New I enter a title, and click on the blue button BACKEND EDITOR The Visual composer bar comes up and below that the Page Template settings.
In the Visual Composer bar the left icone is a rotating circle. It never stops spinning and the composer does not come up.
I have followed the instructions at https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/ and still the same problem.
I have installed Newspaper 6 but not been able to do anything in it.

I also use wpengine and have found their cacheing to be problematic sometimes, assuming you clicked the purge caches button right in the wpe tools section? Did you turn off the CDN temporarily? Did you also try disabling Object/Transient Cache from wpengine tools?
If none of that works, I’d use the staging area, install the newsest newspaper and demo data and see if its happening on staging as well.

We received the email that there was a new update for the Newsmag theme. That is great.
If we do the update will we loose the formatting, layout, set up that we currently have at http://www.ilike2complain.com/
We worked hard to get the layout, colors, and set up where we want it and do not want to have to do that work again if we install the new updated theme files..
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I have installed a plugin to change the default WordPress avatars by other random (Rage Avatar). The problem is that since I installed the Newspaper theme, these avatars are not displayed (in the WordPress editor yes, but not in the theme).

I have Newspaper the latest version V 6.3.2.

1) My problem is that the News ticker, homepage pagination, mobile menu are not working. Here are the details of each:
News ticker: shows the first post and when i click on next icon,, nothing comes up a # is just added to the end of my url.
Homepage Navigation: I tried all 3 options of navigation (prev&next, infinity load, load more button) nothing happen when i click them on the homepage, just a # is added to the end of my url. But on category pages and others pagination works fine. Its only the homepage thats unable to work these functions.
Mobile Menu : When I click/touch on the menu icon while on mobile device the menu does not come up just a # added to the end of my url.
Being a developer I got to thinking this might be some js or jquery problem – all related, but i couldnt find what is causing it. Even tried to deactivate all plugins except Visual composer incase of a conflict but the problem still persists. What could be the issue here? please check my site as the problem is still like this url: http://www.faceofmalawi.com
2) Not sure if this is related to problem number 1 above, but when I mouse over menu items on desktop site there sub items do not display until I am directly mouse overing the specific item, Also note that when I installed theme images were not showing so I searched this forum and used the ‘opacity‘ work-around to show the images, could this also be what I need to do for these menu items. Please advise.
I like v6 of the theme, you guys did a really great job if you can help me with these minor issues I would be very grateful.

I have copied all of my content over from my old website (http://onyxmagazine.com) to the new wordpress website (http://onyxmagazine.starroyaltyent.com/) I installed the newspaper 6 theme and when I did all the content has disappeared. Totally agreed. The days of installing wordpress, a theme and there you have it, a website, are over. You wonder where this is going. Is it going to become so complex that ordinary people won’t be able to create websites and share information? Even Facebook and Twitter have their own way to extract images and excerpts. I’m getting too old! 🙂
ha! Yes, that’s one of the reasons we still do our “main” business site as .shtml vs WordPress. Much easier to “change something” since it’s on the page, and load stuff dynamically via SSI, and the pages are inherently static so no caching plugins to suffer. Lose some of the simplicity of things from dbase loading, and from time to time have to manually change something on all pages which is pain, but sooooo much easier!
Of course for a “news portal” a CMS is only way to fly. But, lots of elements to deal with due to WP, theme on top, plugins on top, then content, then SEO — plus the underlying server stuff running below WP — and then the external stuff being loaded on page. More complex than most people think — certainly not, “install wordpress, get a theme, type in your about us page — done” (AHAHAHAHAHH!). 🙂

We’ll review the documentation for Revolution Slider, but were just wondering, based upon your experience with it and your decision to include it in the Newspaper package, is it capable of styling in a similar way to Big Slide and also pull in Featured posts with titles?
Will try regenerate thumbnails after your review and comment. Not clear why we would have to regenerate thumbnails when only original images were uploaded to existing/first-time install of version 4, but would be happy to try. If it works, would we need to regenerate each time we add content to the slide?

thanks for your quick response. I installed the Newspaper6-Theme now for three times. Before this i deleted the old theme and the VC. I select all elements from Visual Composer settings. The result is every time the same, there are missing some elements is VC (see attachements).I’m desperately and don’t know what to do anymore.

Since Update to Newspaper 6 i’m missing some important elements of Visual Composer (f.e. Fronted Edit etc.) I have activate all items of shortcodes and deactivated all Plugins. I also made a new installation of the theme. Unfortunately without success. Curious is, that the missing elements appear when I change the template to another one! When I change back to Newspaper6 the elements disappear again.
Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

When I open the homepage as an administrator, I get this code in the source:

So the theme is updated. But when I open the same page as a normal user, so a page that is cached, it uses the old code. I’ve deactivated again W3 plugin and installed WP Super Cache, but nothing changed.
Maybe I have to delete all the W3 folder?

@sirajcmr The speed booster was tested only with these plugins – http://screencast.com/t/hcjLnOqh4i2 and if you use other plugins it will be automatically disabled. A lot of people install the plugin without knowing what it does and after that they add many plugins and some of the them are not written fine so the developer took this decision.

Just bought the theme today and installed in Server.
When I checked system status it shows Speed Booster is disabled because of Akismet. I am using Version 3.1.3 of Akismet. Do we have any compatibility issue with Akismet. This is a very common plugin to protect spam.
Uninstalled, reinstalled Akismet. I don’t have many plugin installed as I am just setting up the server. I am using the latest version of your theme.

Please make a full backup of your current installation – https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups deactivate all plugins and do a clean update, meaning that we recommend that you delete the old version of the theme before uploading the new one and also update the plugins that come with the theme’s files(VC, Social Counter…). After update you can run the script like it is suggested in the upgrade guide. Please note that Newspaper 6 is a new theme so old files customization, custom css will not work anymore so you will have to customize it again, it is not necessarily to update the theme gradually(question 2). Also you will have to re-add the widgets to your sidebar(s) as they will become inactive.

Thanks for replying, I had read some of your previous posts regarding similar issues and have tried resaving the widgets and modules. The sidebar is actually there, it’s just at the bottom of the main content. It seems almost like there is a html/CSS error somewhere that’s stopping the content from floating. I’m totally stumped.
On the installation guide it suggested deleting the entire Newpaper theme, which I did prior to installing 6, I also ran the script on the welcome page.
I’m no coder or web wizard, but it almost feels like there is some missing </div> somewhere in the template files that’s breaking the theme or maybe VC is just not functioning as it should for some weird reason.

After installing Newspaper 6 theme I encountered a problem that didn’t happen with my previous themes. There is always a database error. When people visit my site they see a note line “error establishing a database connection” they can’t see the site. I can’t use the wp-admin either because of that.
It’s when I login to my server via Putty and type some Ubuntu codes like “sudo service mysql restart” and restart my mysql database, that the problem is fixed for a brief moment, my site is working again until a new error.
Can you please help me how to fix this? Is this theme too large for the server?
