Hi
If you have installed the demo please note that it can only be remover manually(posts, pages, menus…) – https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-demo-data/
Thanks!
Hello,
I followed the last-resort instructions by Chris according to this post: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/theme-update-blank-pages/#post-47315
a) switch to default theme
b) deactivate visual composer
c) deactivate all plugins
d) switch on visual composer
d) under appearance > preview theme for newsmag — if it won’t ‘preview’ at all; then you need to do CLEAN install of the theme, td plugins, and visual composer
e) once you can ‘preview’ the theme, then you can activate it and it will work.
f) then turn on plugins and if it dies, disable the bad plugin
My site is now all over the place if you go check it out: http://www.livelovefruit.com
The menu is weird, and nothing works. Everything looks normal in the theme panel and is set-up as it should be, but clearly there is something wrong with the code.
Hi, well … it looks like there is some fundamental incompatibility with the 1.7x fork of NewsMag and/or Visual Composer – and our system. I was having repeat server hiccups the past 14 days on/off again, which I thought “might” be related to the update we did of mod_pagespeed around the same time as installing NewMag 1.6 on one of our two highest volume sites.
After numerous “turn things off and see what happens” … I ended up switching the high production site back to an icky version of our old Woo Canvas layout without all our customizations (e.g., it won’t keep sidebar on iPad portrait, home page sucks, etc.) — and we rolled back mod_pagespeed one version. Server returned to normal.
Only normal minor php green to yellow doing something like regenerating 10 years of content thumbnails or republishing 15,000 pages of static content (.shtml/SSI) on our #1 site (not running WP, except old version of Newspaper for my personal blog with 10 entries or less!).
Okay — so, today, thinking we’re back in black — I installed NewsMag 1.7.1B, switched on Visual Composer, switched on Newsmag, switched back on our home page from draft, set that as static front page. Within 30 min. server went from typical ‘2″ load to “32” load and starting kicking me CPU warnings.
Time: Sun May 3 18:41:33 2015 -0400
1 Min Load Avg: 22.51
5 Min Load Avg: 10.53
15 Min Load Avg: 6.12
Running/Total Processes: 31/1043
As the above went to “32” while I was refreshing on server console, I had to restart Apache, then “Killed” visual composer, switched theme back to Woo Canvas (waaaah! Canvas….) …. server back down to normal:
CPU usage
Last 1 minute 1.02
Last 5 minutes 1.19
Last 15 minutes 1.06
Not sure yet what to do. NewsMag 1.4 and VC were rock steady, 1.5/1.6 started to see some increase in issues, 1.7 in any flavor kills us entirely and is not usable for our particular system.
My options right now seem to be:
a) try using theme without Visual Composer, try the custom home page blocks method with widgets; see if server will eat that without choking
b) build a new theme ourselves based on bootstrap 3 + siteorigin … (waaaah!)
c) go back to hacking a custom version of Woo Canvas (waaaaah!)
d) go on vacation and let everything just melt and go out of business … (hmmm… tempting …)
So, was supposed to be working on my ecom system on Sunday, but dealt with this for six hours. Too much fun.
Not much of a simple solution on this one, for me, at least.
I suppose I could switch on the 1.71 theme without VC and see what happens…. hmmm…..\

Seems like maybe I need PHP 5.5 to use the new version of these things.
Well, VC does work
— obviously if you delete the old folder, you need to upload a new fresh copy — assuming you did that ?
Start up without ANY other plugins running; turn off all caching.
Make sure your server is setup for php to have at least 256MB RAM allocated to it.
Clear the cache in your web browser.
Typically best to update WP, before updating theme, in future… just a thought. Seems to work better than way.
If above doesn’t work, perhaps try:
First clear/disable any server caching, turn off mod_pagespeed if using it.
a) switch to default theme
b) deactivate visual composer
c) deactivate all plugins
d) switch on visual composer
d) under appearance > preview theme for newsmag — if it won’t ‘preview’ at all; then you need to do CLEAN install of the theme, td plugins, and visual composer
e) once you can ‘preview’ the theme, then you can activate it and it will work.

Went through this issue last week, actually.
Okay, so I realize that every time I go to deactivate the WPbakery plugin, my website just goes to all blank pages, so there is something wrong with that plugin. How do I manually delete ALL of the WPBakery files in Filezilla, so that I can erase this plugin from WP admin area, and then just re-install it?
I am trying to install the Visual Composer plugin, following advice on https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/
I reach Step 5, after the zip file is uploaded, and I press install. I then have an error message “The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini.” and the plugin is not installed.
Have I done something wrong or is this load limitation fixed by my hosting company (1and1)? I am new to WordPress and welcome any help or ideas.
Hi,
You taught me in the past how to insert a title in the Comment Area.
Now, I installed Disqus Comments and I need to remove this <h4 class> from Comment Area but i don’t remeber how: https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7719/16707495653_1f37b443bc_o.jpg
Can you help me, please?
Regards!
I tried to do that. I deleted the theme and reinstalled it. Brought me back to the same demo theme.
I think there is a reset in the bottom of the main page of the theme panel ….
but basically simplest thing is do fresh install of theme …. delete the old stuff to start freesh
Hello, I installed the demo data and I wanted to start with NewsMag on a clean slate. How would I go above removing the look? Like slider, widgets etc. Thank you
Hi,
See here for example: http://shughal.staging.wpengine.com/testpage/
Just installed NewsMag, and I seem to be having issues with the sidebar getting bumped down. I thought it was the layout I was using, but I created the above test page and used one of the sample templates from the theme, and it’s still causing issues. I have tried both the default page and the latest articles + pagination.
Thoughts here on fixes?
Hi,
1. You can search for tutorials online on how to use the console: https://developer.chrome.com/devtools/docs/console – this is for Chrome, you can find for other browser’s also.
2. I’ve also tested this on my theme install however without using a child theme, in the main theme and found no issues when setting the Roboto font on the main menu items. I’ve tried your configuration: http://screencast.com/t/3L9rANhvuNg and the result on firefox is the right one: http://screencast.com/t/uWw6buLyow so I suggest you also test this using the main theme and see how it goes.
On your site on firefox I found this css errors: http://screencast.com/t/7LziNj802yT which even if they indicate an error to the open sans font it could indicate a common issue of using fonts.
I also suggest you alter the custom css you sue for tablets and don’t set the font family just the font size, like this:
@media (min-width: 768px) and (max-width: 1023px) {
.sf-menu > .td-menu-item > a {
font-size:12px !important;
}
.sf-menu > li > a {
font-size:12px !important;
}
}
If you still can’t manage to solve this please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide you wp-admin login details so we can have a closer look at this. Also include a link to this tread into your message, we will check it as soon as possible and get back with an answer.
Thanks
hello,
I have installed the plugin and the meta data is activated, yet it still does not show any thumbnail
Yes I have SEO by Yoast installed since last year that I bought the theme. It just got messed up since last update of WordPress, I have everything Up to date (theme and plugins). I have not installed any new plugins that could affect the seo yoast plugin because they are the same since many time ago.
I just noticed it this week, I thought it was something of my configuration on new posts but I have created more new posts and it’s the same.
I would appreaciate help because i post all my recent posts to facebook and twitter.
Regards
Hi,
The theme doesn’t output automatic the og: meta data information, but you can use a plugin for this. We recommend to use this plugin WordPress SEO by Yoast plugin because is the best for SEO. Just install it and activate the meta data: http://screencast.com/t/9CBtZm0bESiP
We use it on our demo to.
Thanks!
Hi,
@saibharath I see that you use the default social share, but yo have also to use a plugin to set og: meta as the theme doesn’t do that. We use Seo by Yoast also on our demo. Just install it and activate the meta data: http://screencast.com/t/9CBtZm0bESiP
Thanks!
Hi,
Unfortunately we cannot install the theme for you, also we cannot provide any custom work for the moment. You can use this guide to upload your theme via ftp – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-theme/ and also install the plugins that come with the theme’s files from the /plugins folder.
Thanks!
Hello there,
unfortunately I have seen that my menu don’t work anymore.
I have tried to uninstall every plugin but the problem always run.
what’s wrong?
Do you have any solution?
Pietro R.
Hi,
I’m not sure why you still have this issue. Please try to remove/reinstall Envato Toolkit – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme/ maybe will work after. Also we will take a look at this in future theme’s updates and see if there is an issue.
If doesn’t work please try to update via FTP, just follow the steps from our guide and make a backup of your current theme installation. After you update the theme you have also to update the plugins that come with the theme files from the /plugins folder – https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/
Thanks!
To install theme, see theme docs.. Link right side of page.
You can install , theme, ftp me?
please, how can hide permanently the notice in the wp admin about not installed plugins?
i need to dismiss permanently them, especially for no-admin users. thanks
