Unfortunately Newspaper has an fixed grid layout, responsive as it is fluid and style for desktop/tables/mobile screens. So changing the width (1170px) would not be easy as it needs changing the width value for all elements on pages and for this you would need custom work.

Unfortunately if you use a background image, it wont be added on pages where is used Homepage post block and there is no option to activate it. The background image is blocked because the homepage post image will become boxed and unresponsive on mobiles. You can use only background color – http://screencast.com/t/5TZqb2pA

If you use Jetpack please disable mobile version – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-manage-the-mobile-theme/
Also you can check this without any plugins active except of Visual Composer and clear cache.
You can activate the theme also on your test site and when you change to your main website you can use the same code. Envato specifies that each theme can be used for one product (site): http://themeforest.net/licenses/standard but you can use on multiple test sites. If you want to use it on multiple sites/domains you’d have to buy a license for each project.

Do you use a plugin for mobile version? The theme was designed to be responsive so you don’t need to use a plugin for this. Please disable all plugins and then test your site on mobile friendly, also without any custom modifications for mobiles.

Unfortunately you cannot target iframes without a specific class or container as you can see your iframe is added in a paragraph – http://screencast.com/t/5STAMeORY
A solution will be to target all iframes from a full width post(no sidebar) and add a fixed width using media queries so it will be applied only for tablet and desktop(so on mobile it will be used percentage width like on images) – http://screencast.com/t/CLff4CT2x – http://screencast.com/t/oMJaPBgRxd

We recommended W3TC in the past but now we also made some tests and WP Super Cache seems faster and we will recommend it also in our documentation for Newspaper 5.

I have checked your site again and the search is working properly and it is displayed on mobiles, also the mobile menu.

The top menu was not designed to work on mobile, that’s why it is hidden. But you can use custom css in Theme Panel > Custom Css to show it on mobile but you may need additional customizations for menu items that may drop on more rows – http://screencast.com/t/TT9KZLijK7fK
