Hi,
It seems you have some aggressive ad system present on your website. Clicking anywhere on the page is redirecting to a difficult to close tab, while also opening other ads in tabs
– https://www.screencast.com/t/56ey5sFbFk
You could reinstall WordPress and the theme, and uninstall all other plugins except what is provided in the theme package.
Or scan with malware detection tools to see if there are any problems detected. More useful suggestions by Chris here

Hi,
I cannot say how you would remove those tags. There must be a reason Visual composer ads them there. But when there is need of so many Css fixes, something may not be working properly. Once you start using codes to fix one thing, this could affect another and so on.
If you managed to achieve a stable result, just leave it as it is.
Thanks
Yoast is not the de facto expert about SEO, only one purveyor, and NOT always right. We’ve been doing it since 1995, long before the Yoast crew ever saw a web browser; we were the #1 result on Yahoo for a decade under “keyword optimization.” But whatEVAH. I give advice, not everybody gets it. It does *not* hurt your SEO either way, as the CONTENT, and the title, description first 185 characters, sub heads, outbound organic links, inbound organic links, referential content, and ORIGINAL CONTENT are what help SEO.
Again, search engines KNOW the difference between modern DOM markup for sections of pages, and KNOW what h1 does where. A logo h1 in header container is not treated as superior to h1 tag for content in article container.
SEO = “search engine optimization” — not “website optimization” — so, Google, Bing, Yandex, etc., all know how to read modern HTML5/DOM/markup.
Just FYI anybody reading this thread later.
Matt Cutts addressed this in video in 2009, although he is no longer with Google.
Google webmaster central help forum has addressed this multiple times, including this answer on this same topic from Dec. 2016:
We don't treat HTML5 differently & having multiple H1 tags on a page is fine. Be reasonable when using them, use them where they make sense. There's definitely no penalty for using H1s.
Don’t assume the sky is falling just because some ancient article tells you some bad info about pre-HTML5 era code and modern DOM usage. Modern code is very very different from 20th century webdev. Modern code has markup and sections to define a header from a footer, from an article section, etc. (for instance, Apple uses the article section on iOS to make an ‘easy to read’ version of page available and for SIRI to read).
Feel free to change stuff if you feel strongly about it, but don’t presume that Google, Bing, Yandex etc. care one way or another. Usage on the logo is correct in this context as it’s unrelated to the content SEO for the actual page content.
Hope that helps somebody as this comes up on every theme forum these days.
Kind of like the people who still freak about about the srcset attribute
Can’t seem to get this to work no matter what I try and I’ve been through a bunch of the other posts in this forum trying to find something that works. I just want to show a different ad in the header spot when the category is obituaries. With this code, no ad shows up when the obituary category page is viewed even though I have an ad in the theme settings for Adverts in the Custom Ad 1 field. Any help is appreciated, thanks!
This is my replacement for /parts/header/ads.php:
<div class=”td-header-rec-wrap”>
<?php
$tds_header_ad_title = td_util::get_option(‘tds_header_ad_title’);
// show the header ad spot
if (is_category(‘obituaries’)){
echo td_global_blocks::get_instance(‘td_block_ad_box’)->render(array(‘spot_id’ => ‘custom_ad_1’, ‘spot_title’ => $tds_header_ad_title));
}
else
{
echo td_global_blocks::get_instance(‘td_block_ad_box’)->render(array(‘spot_id’ => ‘header’, ‘spot_title’ => $tds_header_ad_title));
}
?>
Hi Catalin,
I neither said, nor believe that TagDiv composer is the copy of Visual Composer, but the whole point of creating a new composer was to have tailor made solution that accompanies the Newspaper theme.
Under various other threads, you had already said that getting ‘Infinite loading next post’ is a tough work and need lot of work, but getting ‘Infinite loading related articles’ was already achievable by VC. As you took care of creating a page similar to VC created page, you could have or can try to get ‘similar result for related articles as well’
Every website owner has one and only one aim- to get more users time on their site and infinite loading can help very much in retaining our users for more time.
So, This is just a request. Rest you already know what you can or you should do further.
Thanks.
LOL … I just went to a company website to get their contact info for a follow up, kept scrolling down, would see the footer links for second, then more stuff would load, scroll down, scroll down… more stuff — had to get five sets of reloads of full length page just to see the footers. Ugh. Man I hate that!!
I am not arguing one way or another on the idea; just saying my personal vote would be No. (or, Hella no!) 😉
Hi, subcategories are order by alphabetical first word (https://forum.tagdiv.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/megamenu-sub.png). I want to order it manually with another order. I use for that ”
Orden en Taxonomías y Categorías” plugin, but its not compatible with theme.
How can I do it please?
Thanks.
hi,
I uploaded the website bbpress and used the custom menu. On the other pages the menu bottom line does not appear on the bbPress menu. Is there anything I can do about it

Hello saucemonsters,
For more information about our Ads implementation, please read our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-header-ads/ if you are using AdSense and if you are using other ads, please check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-using-other-ads/
Thanks for the message!
How do I install mobile ads? I have one banner display size for desktop. I need to use another size for mobile. But the only option I see is placing one ad code and I have to turn off the other format. So I can place a desktop banner ad code, but I have to turn that off on mobile as it breaks the resizing. But there is no separate area to place the mobile banner ad size so I am losing monetization on half my traffic. I tried using the “Adsense size” feature but it doesn’t work.
Hi,
There is no option to insert ads in the category pages or the other pages you mention. All the theme’s add capabilities can be found in the documentation
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/header-ads-adsense/
This could only be achieved by using a plugin that can provide these options or by editing the theme files.
If you are using the mobile theme plugin, this comes with predefined layouts for the homepage, posts etc. You can use the mobile editor to insert content in pages, in order to be displayed when using the mobile theme
– https://www.screencast.com/t/OcJtl6Kd141
The front page will display a grid containing featured posts, and a Latest articles section
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-posts-2/
Page editors cannot be used on mobile pages. Please note that this plugin is optional, you can choose not to activate it and then the same content from desktop will be displayed on mobile. The theme is fully responsive and will adapt for all devices with the best results.
More information about the mobile theme here
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/
Thanks
My site is http://maboplus.com/ If you visit the site, as soon as you click anywhere, you will be served a popup ad and be redirected to some silly offer.which i did not apply for.
I don’t know how to get rid of them. please can someone help me
Have deleted the themes and install fresh newsmag themes, install the child themes, deactivate all the plugins and install one after another, still the same things,
if i install another themes my site work fine… i love newsmag have been using it for more than 2years now … please help me to get rid of these pop up ads
Hi,
Google Adsense codes are automatically responsive and will adapt their size based on the container they are in
– https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/3213689?hl=en
If you are not using an Adsense code, the theme will display the ad you enter in the theme panel as it is. Wrapping the code as shown in the guide provided above, you can have different ads displayed based on device. So you can wrap your code in a visible desktop class, and it will be displayed only on desktop. Then use a different ad code optimized for other devices, the same way
– https://www.screencast.com/t/UQHc206i
These are the only options the theme has regarding ads. Some users use the Adrotate plugin for ads implementation, you can try that if the theme settings do not offer what you need.
Thanks
A small h3 error. The result was long 🙁 thanks, no problem
Another question 🙂
Can we add ads below and above the image
Hello,
In order to use custom ads in our theme please use this method of implementation:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/using-other-ads-non-adsense-ads/
Thank you!
Hi,
1. The latest theme update featured the introductions of the new front-end page editor, the tagDiv composer. This editor is activated by default at the moment you update the theme. If you are using Visual composer, please go to your plugins section and deactivate the tagDiv composer. Then check the functionality of the image box again.
More information about the new editor here
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-tutorial/
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/visual-composer-tagdiv-composer-transition/
2. If the plugin is not displayed in the plugins section, the it is added differently. Maybe you inserted code or shortcode in the theme files, or the theme panel custom code sections.
3. If you want to display an image in the ads section you can do it like this
– https://www.screencast.com/t/NNzw0ldFz
If you have tried this and the image is not displayed, it could be a caching problem. Try clearing any caching installed then check again.
4. Please check the theme system status and make modifications to the mentioned parameters in this guide, if necessary
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
This could be the reason for slow loading and other issues, like settings not saving properly.
The theme is tested and works properly with the Visual composer editor provided in the theme package. This does not require any activation, I could not help you with the activation of a purchased Visual composer issue.
Thanks
Hello Henry,
Unfortunately, our theme does not have any such an option but notice that you can do this from the code if you will add a condition like this -> if (is_front_page()), according to this useful guide here -> https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/functions/is_home/ This change should have to be done in ads.php, like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/Dowr7VoGIP8K
Another solution, in this case, would be to use AdRotate plugin
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the message!
Bump does nothing except push things DOWN in the reply queue.
You can learn to minify your main style.css using minification tools online. Google is a great resource for finding things. I use this : https://cssminifier.com/
And yes, if you use ANYTHING loaded externally, like Google Fonts, JetPack, social “likes numbers” on your page, weather widget, ad networks, etc. — all slow down your page as it has to “go fetch” stuff for page to load. So, choosing to NOT use Google fonts is one option.
Using fewer modules per page; meaning no more than 10 thumbnails on sidebar and footer COMBINED will speed things up a lot.
Per GTMetrix
1) optimize your images
2) Adding time to live settings for browser caching, for Woff/Woff2 to your htaccess file as mimetypes is advisable; the other items you can’t do much about as they are on other sites — and will impact your score
3) loading all those elements from Amazon ad services’ CDN is slowing you down
4) removing query strings is advisable
That stuff from share-a-sale is badly optimized.
Generally when setting up your site
* test without ads or external items to get ‘actual’ score for your post page
* then turn on ad systems and external stuff one by one until you can stomach how this affects your side adversely — your ad units are NOT part of the theme so you should complain to them about crappy optimization!
( I don’t work here. )
I’m running Newspaper 7.5 on one site and Newspaper 7.8.1 on another site. After updating them to WordPress v4.8, I can no longer access the widget page (siteurl.com/wp-admin/widgets.php) on either site. It is not a plugin issue as I have tried deactivating all plugins but still get the same error.
The site running Newspaper 7.5 loads a blank gray page.
The site running Newspaper 7.8.1 shows this error on that page: Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_detect_encoding() in /home/servername/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3086
Ok, just found the problem, i used right click to check, but after inspect element i realized that there is another size to :

324×160
Hi,
If you want to add more custom ad spots, you will have to edit the
td_config.php
file
– https://www.screencast.com/t/qW11XA2B
And register your new custom ad code in two places, like this
– http://screencast.com/t/drqt26uCI
Please be careful when implementing the new ad in the respective file, and use proper code syntax. Look at the other already defined custom ads and create the new one.
Thanks
Hello,
How can I add new ad on my posts? I need another custom ad 6, 7… and so on. And how can I make available to the editor to add ads? How to add facebook share count on the posts?
Hi My adsense in currently working. Thank you. However, I have another problem. A site (popuponclick.com) keeps popping up when I click any link on my site. I don’t even know how this started. I never subscribed to it.I wonder if my site was hacked. How do I get rid of it?
Under Newspaper > Theme Panel > Post Settings, then Default post templates (site wide):
I have selected default for the default site post template.
All other options in this page except the two boxes in Featured Images are turned off (for the purpose of testing).
I go to Posts and click Add New, then verify that the Post Template selected is “From Panel.”
In scrolling down, I notice that there’s a lot of stuff in my Visual Composer.
I go back up and select the Classic Editor and notice a bunch of short code on the page.
Without adding anything at all to the post, I click on Preview. What I see appears to be three columns of post previews. On the third column, a sidebar is covering the column with other content.
Clearly, I have something fouled up in the setup (and it was going so well).
No matter which template I select in the Post Settings panel, I still get three columns of post previews with the third column covered by a sidebar containing ads.
Here is the short code in case that helps:
[vc_row full_width="stretch_row" parallax="content-moving-fade" parallax_image="iii_td_pic_homepage_iii" el_class="td-travel-header"][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class="td-travel-features"][vc_column][td_block_5 custom_title="" sort="featured" limit="3"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][td_block_ad_box spot_id="custom_ad_1" spot_title="- Advertisement -"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][td_block_4 custom_title="Trip ideas" category_id="" limit="3" td_ajax_filter_type="td_category_ids_filter" td_ajax_filter_ids="" td_ajax_preloading="preload" sort="random_posts"][vc_separator style="dashed" border_width="4"][vc_empty_space height="2px"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][td_block_4 custom_title="Travel guides" category_id="" limit="3" td_ajax_filter_type="td_category_ids_filter" td_ajax_filter_ids="" td_ajax_preloading="preload" sort="random_posts"][vc_separator style="dashed" border_width="4"][vc_empty_space height="2px"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][td_block_5 custom_title="Latest from blog" limit="3" ajax_pagination="load_more"][/vc_column][/vc_row]
To make a normal post, I can delete the short code and start with a blank page. then and only then do I get a post that’s what I expect to see. I also notice that I can make other changes using the backend editor if I want to add to the content in some pretty significant ways.
Any thoughts would be appreciated as to why I can’t seem to control the default single view post template like the documentation says I should be able to do??
thanks,
Hello Catalin,
yes i use the background click ads and it works fine but the “top zone” is not clickable.
