Hello.

The theme already has a set of placeholder images like so:
In order to change these images, you will have to do it manually by creating a placeholder image and replacing these thumbnails: https://www.screencast.com/t/B1cSNNXPLv
You have to keep the file name and sizes intact for it to work properly.

Thank you!

You could consider and try something else maybe, for example, if there is no featured image set, display a placeholder image of your choosing in the top post header. Try this condition in the post template 7 file
This is the modified template 7 file (single_template_7.php) you could give it a try
https://pastebin.com/8wieaZKU
Replace the URL with an image of your choosing.
For database advice I cannot help you, that should be done and tested by professionals, since unpredictable things can happen.

Hi,

There are probably errors in the page if the default placeholder image cannot be loaded. Try checking with the browser inspector, check in the console for errors. I can also take a look if you could provide a link to your website.

Thanks

Hi,

There are multiple topics in the matter on the forum, example
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/possible-malware-asociated-to-some-newspaper-sites/

We will try to think of a solution for the placeholder images used by the tagDiv composer, since this is so requested by our users. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Thanks

Hello,

The default placeholder is cracking on the Popular Posts(Right menu) that does not have a image. I’ve attached the screenshot of this issue.
http://www.screencast.com/t/3UnqrDeEJR1
Please advise how to fix it. Thanks

That is not malware. The images are placeholders for the td multipurpose plugin which has now been merged with td composer. The images cannot be deleted and that’s why they recur after you delete. The Tagdiv team says they will provide an option to disable the images in the next update.

Hi,

Those are placeholder images for multi-purpose elements used by the composer. We will try to find a different implementation for these images in the future, this is added on our list. Sorry for any inconvenience created by those images.

Thanks

Hi,

You have to set featured images for your posts
https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image-or-video/
If you don’t the theme will display those placeholders. Once you set a featured image or video the theme will create thumbnails
https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/
Note that if you use originally small images such as this one
https://www.screencast.com/t/Hql48bWsQSZ
In this case not many thumbnails will be created, or the results will not be proper. Each module has a required size that it will try to create
https://www.screencast.com/t/8w46Zni5
https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-vs-featured-image-size/

Hi,

Those could be the placeholder images used for various elements. For example the images that are used by the tagDiv composer and multi-purpose plugin
https://www.screencast.com/t/Tq9PrI3yOroN
If removing those images is required for you, you will have to deactivate the tagDiv composer and multi-purpose plugin, then remove them. If the plugins are active and you remove them, they will re-appear.
However those images would not cause any problems with the website, I don’t understand why exactly you want to delete them.

Hi,

The featured image can be bigger, for example the live theme demos use in some cases much bigger image sizes
https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/
This will however not have an impact, these original images will not be loaded in their full size on the website. Only thumbnails created from them will be shown
https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/
Of course images can be further optimized. If you do not set featured images the modules in block and grids will display a default placeholder thumb. Of course your hosting plan has be ready for increased content and traffic

Suggestions for website speed are many, in this forum and also online

Hi,

My website is publishing more or less 10 contents a day and has 35000+ posts history. Redactors won’t put each time a featured pic in their posts.

Considering we are using style 7 for daily news, is there a way that by default if no featured image is set :
– in the featured image placeholder, the system will display the first imga of the post
– post thumbnail will be generated from the first image in the post

Hello Saikological,

1)You should check the setting from here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/X5cpSju1rTT Also, if you will edit the page with TD Composer, you will see that for each block has an option that allows you to customize the fonts.
2)That post does not have a featured image and that’s why you will see that placeholder. You should edit the page with the composer and try to exclude that post by post ID filter. Also, you can provide your website URL for more investigations.

Thanks for your understanding!

Hello,
I cannot add elements in the home page using TD composer. When I drag an element only the name of the element appears.
Not the element placeholder with the element options. The tagdiv composer works fine in other pages.
I have attached a relevant screenshots and my system status.

Hi,

Those images are placeholders used by multipurpose plugin – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/can-not-delete-standart-image/

Thanks!

Either I’m not understanding it correctly, or it’s not working.
What’s the code I would need to place in Header ad, so it would become a link to an external page? ( I’m using my own image banner)
Are you saying that I cannot use the header ad placeholder for my own custom ad?

Thank you!

Bogdan B.

Hello,

You can use a gallery to show images as you mention. Please use this guide:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/gallery-2/
As for the sign in, you can disable it from the theme panel header section
The author avatar placeholder does not have any setting to disable the placeholder. If The avatar can only be removed completely using a css code. But that will disable the avatar completely, not just the placeholder. As an alternative, you can use gravatar https://codex.wordpress.org/How_to_Use_Gravatars_in_WordPress
or this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-user-avatar/ to replace the placeholders.

Thank you!

Hi,

Those images are default placeholders for multi-purpose elements, they will not cause any problems. Example
https://www.screencast.com/t/M3QNkwXFFUk
They will be added as long as the multi-purpose plugin is installed and active.

Thanks

Those images are placeholders used by the tagdiv multipurpose plugin and they cannot be deleted (unless you don’t use the plugin). Tagdiv team recommends not to delete the images.

Simion C.
tagDiv Staff

The first solution could be modified further, so the remaining post titles after the thumbnails removal are aligned to the left, like this
https://www.screencast.com/t/gomWBLiEM
So in addition to that code add this one as well

.td_block_19 .td_module_mx2 .item-details {
margin: 0 0 20px 0px;
}

The thumbnails will be created from the featured images you set. If there is no featured images a placeholder thumbnail will be shown. These are found here in the theme
https://www.screencast.com/t/7EPGtC5naw5
There are blocks that do not display a thumbnail, you could consider using those as well. Or experiment with the new flex block as well
https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/flex-block/

Thanks

Perfect thank you I will give this a try. Please just one last thing and I will leave you guys alone. I have attached a link to an image and there are 3 spots on here which I need help.

1) Weather Widget. I attached API and still does not work, I followed all instructions and still nothing. Is this not working?

2)I have looked everywhere I cannot find where to edit this option.

3) In order for me to remove the placeholders, i had to use CSS. I should have to do that. Is there a way to remove the placeholders that are there?

Thank You

there are two sections which I cannot seem to be able to replace can you please advice me how…

Simion C.

I was referring to the post templates that use that thumbnail size. If you do not set a featured image a placeholder will be displayed in block modules. If you disable the placeholders, nothing will be displayed in the modules. In the post pages the full image will be shown.

Wait a minute. So if we turn the thumbnail off in Theme Panel and also turn off the option to display “placeholder” images, the blocks will load full-size images as thumbnails?

In place of Grey placeholder, I want to use my custom placeholder Image. Please guide me

Simion C.
tagDiv Staff

Hi,

1. Indeed the default value is only a placeholder, it does not apply o the image. You need to enter the value you want in that field.

2. That is exactly what the issue was. No icons were loading on the actual page, despite them showing in the composer as you are building the page. As I mentioned the theme package was re-uploaded and the issue fixed. Currently there is no such problem anymore.

If you reinstalled the theme, clear all caching, including browser cache. Force refresh the page (Ctrl+Shift+R) and check the results.
In case there is still an issue, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login information, as well as FTP access. Make a backup of the website before. We will take a look.

Include a link to this topic in the email.

Thanks
