Hi,
Newspaper 6.5 is a very old theme, and I think the best way will be to make a new ( fresh install not update) and import all post using a plugin.
Form Newspaper 6.5 to 9.5 is like you are using a other theme, here you can check the news that get the theme since the 6.5 -> https://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/5489609
Also please check the Requirements for Newspaper -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/

Please make sure that there is not a plugin conflict, and all theme requirements are set like in our documentation https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/

Hi,
Another way which can cause this server increase is by using some untested plugins with the theme which with the latest version of the theme cause this behavior. Try to use only required plugins, clear all the caches and check the results. We do not have any bad reports regarding this problem until now, sorry! We have made some tests but with not encounter something like this. Also, ensure that your server respect these requirements from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
Thanks for your understanding!
Thanks for the reply.
I’ve check the requirements and all is good.
However, I realized that I have version 6.5 on my site.
I tried a couple of hours ago to upgrade to v9 by removing the theme from the website and uploading and activating the latest version, but then I could only see the header and under it fatal error message.

Hi,
Usually those problem appear when is a conflict between our theme and some plugins, or when are made some changes in theme files; what you can do is to deactivate all plugins, clear all cache and try again, if the problem is still there, check if you have the child theme, deactivate it if you have, also check the code from theme panel, if the problem is sill there, then I think the best way will be to make a full backup and remove/delete the theme and install it again.
Also please make sure that the theme system status is configured as mentioned in the requirements guide. Please follow the guide carefully

Hi,
Yes the wp memory wasn’t enough for the themes and plugins that you have.
You’ll need to login with FTP and remove the theme from the host or increase the wp memory , after that you can install it again, but note that you need to have the requirements like in our quid if you want to work the theme properly -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
Thank you!

Hi,
So this just started happening? That error would mean that there is not enough memory, we recommend a value of 256M which would be enough for most websites. Similar cases where the same 500 error was displayed, were solved by increasing the memory.

Thank you.
Hi,
This behavior happens due when the system status parameters are not correctly increased according to our documentation from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/ Probably, your PHP memory has exhausted and that’s why you cannot save or make anything. Try my advice, remove all of the untested plugins, clear all the caches, purge CDN files and check the results. If the problem persists, please let us know.
Thanks for your understanding!

Hi,
Google Page Speed Insight seems to change the layout and is not always reliable.
The WP rocket plugin wasn’t tested be us with our theme so we can not provide support for untested plugin, here is the list with tested plugin -> https://www.screencast.com/t/EIRBhRXv also if that SSL Cache make that error you can try to find other plugins that maybe do not make conflicts with our theme.
I’m sure that there is no theme that can work with all plugins that exist without have any conflicts; and you can not test all of theme and provide support for each in part, that’s way all theme have a list with tested plugins -> https://www.screencast.com/t/EIRBhRXv
Also, notice that we have a speed optimization tutorial but this is addressed only to advanced users. So, if you follow the steps which are presented in this tutorial here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/ you can increase the page speed loading and if you are not aware of the steps in this regard, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to help you because the speed optimization services are not covered by our support policy, as you can read here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/support-policy-2/ Check our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/ regarding on dedicated server to fit our requirements.
