You will have to first start looking for a plugin conflict. please deactivate ALL plugins except tagDiv ones, also if you are using a child theme or cache plugin, deactivate them, clear all cache and try again.
We recommend using the latest version of the theme, Newspaper 10.3.9.1.

Also, sometimes is possible to be only jquery problems. Those can be resolved using a plugin for jQuery, like Enable jQuery Migrate Helper plugin and try this option => https://www.screencast.com/t/WYlKJVLi. Clear all the caches (also the browser cache).

What is the problem with style.css? Did you try to install it and received this error message, “ERROR: The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.”? If yes, you are probably uploading the whole theme package. You have to upload only the theme zip file, not the whole package which contains other items
