Also make sure that you do not have a plugin conflict, please deactivate ALL plugins except tagDiv Composer, also if you are using child theme or cache plugin, deactivate them, clear all cache and try again.

The only way to remove the featured image from a module is the above option with flex block or you can use a bloc that do not have featured image like block 9 – 10 this need to be done manually, the theme do not have an option to remove the thumb for featured image if there is no image set.
