Hi,

Blocks have only ajax pagination. However that can be done, there are a couple of ways. The first one is to simply select the latest articles page template – https://forum.tagdiv.com/page-templates-2/
No need to enter anything in the page, just select the mentioned template. There are also settings for the page template, they are mentioned in the guide.

The second method is to edit the page with the composer and place a loop element
http://prntscr.com/oj8n9v
Loops have numbered pagination – http://prntscr.com/oj8nrj

With either of these methods the result will be the same, a page displaying latest articles, with numbered pagination.

Please let me know if you have more questions.
Thanks

Hi,

I have inspected the grid on mobile, I see there is an issue with the modules width
http://prntscr.com/oj8f5c
Maybe you have modified the width for them in the composer, on mobile. You could check this, edit the page with the composer, select the mobile viewport, then check if there is a custom width set for the module image – http://prntscr.com/oj8h1u
It could be that there is a custom width set there, which affects the thumbs on mobile.

This type of grid won’t stack the modules, for the modules on the right (smaller ones) there will be a horizontal scroll. Some grids do indeed stack them on mobile, for example this one – https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/big-grid-9/

Please let us know if you have more questions.

Hi,

Sorry for the confusion, it was not my intention. I was just presenting the current image gallery elements that can be used in the theme.

I have checked the example you mentioned, for example this one https://www.reuters.com/
I see the homepage is built with grids and blocks, most of them set to display articles from specific categories. I can’t see an actual image gallery in that page.

The theme composer has a wide selection of blocks and grids that can display your posts.
There are predefined blocks and grids – https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/block-1/
https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/big-grid-1/
https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/full-big-grid-1/
Then there are the flex blocks and grids from the cloud library, which can be imported with the cloud plugin – https://cloud.tagdiv.com/#/load/Blocks
https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-cloud-library-plugin/

But the composer doesn’t have a specific gallery element for images. You can either create a tagDiv gallery as mentioned above, try the revolution slider, or use a gallery plugin.

Please let me know if you have more questions.

Hi,

We will try to fix it in time for the next theme update, the update should be released this week as far as I know. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi,

The type of menu can be set while creating/editing them. So for example a mega-menu with sub-categories is this one – https://www.screencast.com/t/BUKMmfTRsn
One without sub-categories – https://www.screencast.com/t/ApsNW3sUHhpY
And then there is the simple drop down menu – https://www.screencast.com/t/Nl0GGdKgu

The menu element from a cloud template will simply display the menu you choose
https://www.screencast.com/t/mjOQiSKh
It will matter how you create the actual menu in the backend.

If I misunderstand something or you have more questions, please let me know.

Hi,

All the post content is inside a general container, this container will set a padding for it, like this – https://www.screencast.com/t/k961Db0A

Removing that padding would make the images be edge to edge, but so will the the rest of the content, which won’t look nice. Some CSS could be used, like removing the whole padding, then applying it for everything but the images.
But this means that all the elements used inside the post content have to be taken into account (paragraphs, lists, maybe divs, all the headings etc). I could create a code for it if you should consider this. let me know.

Hi,

@Pomplemoose
So the sidebar doesn’t appear even when set for posts individually. Should appear fine if the sidebar contains widgets and is set to appear, for example
https://www.screencast.com/t/42LoQ8hT9w
Maybe you are using various characters in the sidebar name, this will remove the widgets from it – https://forum.tagdiv.com/sidebars-tutorial/

@webforu
There is a case when that might happen. Is the WPBakery plugin active? If possible try to deactivate it and check if the cloud template displays properly.
If that is the case, I could provide a quick fix for it, please post a link to where I can see the problem happening.

Let me know.
Thanks

Hi,

That is true, the guide doesn’t actually show how to create a block replica and customize it if needed. I will make a note of it and add it on the list, it would indeed be helpful in such a situation to have this in the guide.

The blocks and modules can now be used in a child theme, after the latest update. There are still a few quirks with the child theme but they will be solved as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your suggestions.

Hi,

You could make tests with any of those gallery plugins, I can’t make any recommendations because we haven’t tested any of them unfortunately.
A tagDiv gallery can be made in pages, like this
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/migration-visual-composer-to-tagdiv-composer-2/

Please let us know if you have more questions.

Hi,

I tested the website with gtmetrix, looks quite fine from what I can see
http://prntscr.com/oiu155
Removing the thumbnails from the page would reduce the page size and improve loading speed. Maybe consider using an image optimization plugin, make some tests with it as well.

The color flash you mention in the header section can be visible in some cases. For a brief moment the initial colors of the header in this case are seen, before the custom colors are loaded and applied. It could even be caused by optimization plugins, same for the background image.
There should be a transition before the background image loads, like in this demo post
https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/td-post-2015-awards-all-of-the-best-and-worst-moments-from-the-show/
If as a test you deactivate the optimization plugins you are using at the moment, what are the results?

Thanks

Hi,

If the fonts are disabled in the theme panel, then the theme won’t load any fonts. I made a test on my end, with fonts – http://prntscr.com/oitnit and without them
http://prntscr.com/oito59
But font settings made in the composer can still load fonts. So for example a font setting set for the article title on a module – http://prntscr.com/oitx2v can still load fonts
http://prntscr.com/oitxbx

Also some plugins can load and use fonts. You could begin to investigate what is using the font that is being loaded.

Hi,

The theme is compatible with Woocommerce, so there should be no problem using it properly. In the theme panel template settings the theme provides only a sidebar option for woocommerce archives
http://prntscr.com/oit5ar
There aren’t other settings in the theme to customize the woocommerce templates. What exactly would you like to do with the product category pages? Let me know.

Hi,

Sorry to hear that you are facing problems using the theme and composer. There are some cases when a red error can appear – https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-not-working/

If it appears for specific pages only, usually it means that the page contains content that wasn’t added with the composer or is not part of the composer, or various codes entered in it by some means, these can produce this result.
Worth trying to revert to a previous page revision if possible, before the issue started to happen.

If it happens for all pages even new ones, it could be caused by plugins, or maybe modifications to the theme page templates, or using a non-theme provided page template.

We can investigate such issues first hand, we will require admin login sent by email at contact@tagdiv.com. If you want us to try and help please let us know, also remember to include a link to this topic in the email.

Hi,

Doesn’t look disabled, the pages still use the mobile theme. If you disabled the mobile theme for the homepage and other pages, they should not display it anymore.

We could take a look at it if you want, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login. In our tests the disable mobile theme option works fine, but maybe there are cases when it doesn’t however. Also include a link to this topic in the email.

Let us know.
Thanks

Glad I can help.

The mobile theme won’t work with composer content, only what is possible through the simple mobile editor. So displaying a block on phones when the mobile theme is active is not possible. You can check how the mobile theme looks by visiting this demo with a phone or with a browser emulator – https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper_local_news/

However we introduced in he latest update a setting which can now be used to disable the mobile theme per page or post. So for example the homepage on mobile can be made to not use the mobile theme and will display the content from desktop, while the rest of the website will. This was a much requested feature, now it is possible.
The setting is found in the page/post edit screen in Gutenberg – http://prntscr.com/oisnlc

Please let me know if you have more questions.

Hi,

After setting the page in the initial language, now you must translate the ID of the page using the WPML string translation.

So for example I am creating a page to set as footer page, first in English
http://prntscr.com/ois9uf
Then I translate the page in French – http://prntscr.com/oisa1a
http://prntscr.com/oisaiq

Now using WPML these pages can be switched when the language is changed, but this must be set as mentioned in the topic from above. In my example I am setting the English page in the theme panel – http://prntscr.com/oisc44
Then I am adding the tds_footer_page string for translation in WPML
http://prntscr.com/oiscowhttp://prntscr.com/oiscujhttp://prntscr.com/oiscz9

Now it appears like so – http://prntscr.com/oisddi so if I want the French page to appear when the language is changed, I will add the ID of the page there
http://prntscr.com/oisdt1http://prntscr.com/oisg6n
Be sure to mark as complete there.

The result is like this. When on English the footer page will be the English footer page
http://prntscr.com/oisfoj
When on French the translated footer page will be displayed – http://prntscr.com/oisgmx

If you do it like this everything should work fine. For me it works correctly every time I test it. Please let me know if there still is a problem after trying this.

Thanks

Hi,

There may be some issues with the child theme but we will try to fix them as quickly as possible.

If you want to use the header file in the child theme, copy the header file from the composer – http://prntscr.com/oirye2
In the child theme main folder – http://prntscr.com/oirym7 it should work fine.

The modules should work fine, just create the same directory path to them in the child theme. So for example I I want to remove the post title from module 4 in the child theme
http://prntscr.com/ois3yuhttp://prntscr.com/ois47thttp://prntscr.com/ois4h7

For the headers there is a modification that has to be made after copying them in the child theme, an example with header style 4 – http://prntscr.com/ois5gf

Please let me know if you have more questions.

Hi,

The theme can display 2 types of mega-menus besides a simple drop-down menu type
https://forum.tagdiv.com/mega-menu/
So there is a mega-menu with sub-categories and one without sub-categories.

Which cloud header template have you imported? Also what exactly would you like to change about the menus? I will try to help you, maybe there are settings for it. Please let me know.

Hi,

From what theme version did you update? There were some changes in the theme a while back, in update 9.7 – https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/ and most of the theme files were moved in the composer.
But this should’t affect a search plugin, which searches in the database for results. Does that plugin work correctly with a different theme, maybe a default one?

There are other search plugins out there, you could also try a different one, test free ones if possible – https://colorlib.com/wp/search-plugins-for-wordpress/

Thanks

Hi,

I believe it is happening due to the size of the screen, it is an issue that may happen on smaller screens. Some templates that have a longer description can push the buttons lower, like in the examples you are showing.

I could give you a code that you can try before a permanent solution is found on our end. Please try and enter this code in this file – http://prntscr.com/oirl7f

.tdb-single-description {
display:none;
}

Then force refresh the page in the browser, it should display better. Please let me know, and sorry for the inconvenience.

Regarding the other question, I don’t quite understand what you mean. Post templates can be applied to any post, but they can’t be converted to actual posts. If I misunderstand please correct me.

Thanks

There are a few cases when there could be such errors. The most common one is happening due to the Facebook pixel code or plugin – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/amp-errors-6/

It can also be caused by optimization plugins, as in this case

Hi,

1. Once removed the category base (meaning the word category in the URL) will not show anymore on all the post links. Then it will depend on the permalink structure you choose in wordpress settings – http://prntscr.com/oh8l48
The website mentioned above https://www.theepochtimes.com/ uses a post name permalink structure from what I can see. So the URL will be example.com/post-name, no category base or category name.

2. You could check some online guides mentioning best free or premium newsletter plugins. Mailchimp is one of the most popular ones as far as I know
https://www.formget.com/best-free-wordpress-newsletter-email-marketing-plugins/

3. I really can’t say, maybe try some of these – https://www.sitepoint.com/best-donation-plugins-for-wordpress/

4. By default WordPress cannot do this. maybe it could be done with a plugin, check this topic for some plugin suggestions – https://www.quora.com/How-do-I-publish-manage-blog-posts-from-single-Wordpress-website-to-multiple-Wordpress-websites

5. The theme can export the theme panel settings only – https://forum.tagdiv.com/import-export-theme-settings/
So all the settings made in the theme panel, ad codes, custom codes etc can be exported and used in a different location where the theme is installed.

There are content protection plugins to try and prevent these actions. I believe this one is quite widely used – https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-content-copy-protection/
There could still be ways to bypass it, but it should block the vast majority of the attempts.

You could try others as well – https://wordpress.org/plugins/tags/content-protection/

Hi,

Looks like there is a problem with Firefox, it has problems with some of the CSS that is used. There is something you could try, please enter this code in the theme panel custom CSS section

.td-md-is-firefox .home .td-header-image {
display: inline-flex;
}

It should solve the problem – http://prntscr.com/oh8hy1

I will however make a note of it and mention it to pour design team so they can investigate. Sorry for the inconvenience. Let me know if it works, also if you have more questions.

Thanks

Hi,

From what I can find wp rocket already has render blocking capabilities
https://docs.wp-rocket.me/article/108-render-blocking-javascript-and-css-pagespeed
Maybe you could use the settings from there, and not a different plugin. Then make tests.

Thanks
