In backend how to make few specific categories reserved for admin & editor? Only they can post on those categories. But everyone will see those post in frontend? ex: http://prntscr.com/7w6dzt
I found that all user level can post in all categories. But in a newspaper site there should be some restrictions.
Can anyone give me a code that will do it (not a plugin) 😀
Hi,
Each block uses one (or two) module(s) to display the posts. For example block1 uses modules 4 and 6 – http://screencast.com/t/WBt6c0iw
On most modules there’s a thumbnail, they come in different sizes – http://screencast.com/t/4dIuc3exp
The thumbnails are registered in td_config.php – http://screencast.com/t/cyVQTwja
To add a new thumbnail you have to use the td_api_thumb::add API call – https://forum.tagdiv.com/td_api_thumbadd/
When you register a new block you have to use a strict name – http://screencast.com/t/1pSR20AXAZf – this is required because the theme loads only the necessary blocks code to improve the speed.
Make sure that the files are included in the plugin folder and their path is correct – http://screencast.com/t/TpQKBEd4oT0
For widgets registration try to use the following hook: – http://screencast.com/t/gIAV69k56ds
add_action('td_wp_booster_loaded', array($this, 'td_wp_booster_loaded'));
Add a function and the code required for registering the widget:
function td_wp_booster_loaded() {
...
}
Hope this helps, let me know how it goes.
Thank you!

Hi
The logo div it’s located in header style file, for example for header style 3 the file it’s header-style-3.php as you can see here: http://screencast.com/t/0hgHc5VQ The logo class is td-header-sp-logo and you can apply some css and center how you want, depending by the header style used. Here are some good information about css positioning: http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_positioning.asp
If you can’t manage to do it let us know and provide a link of your site.
Thanks!
How can I make the dropcap circle background a true circle?
When I go to the Post Editor > Formats > Dropcaps > Circle the circle shows, but it is an oval shape, not a true circle.
So for example a dropcap with the number 1 shows an verticaly elognated oval, and with the number 10 it becomes a horizontally elongated oval.
The code for the circle dropcap used to work well in Newspaper 4. I’ve tried changing the font size for the dropcaps and font type, but nothing works.
It’s a small detail, but visually an important one
Thanks
Hi
The theme doesn’t have an option to display different font size on mobile devices but you can use media queries to do that like in this example.
/* the query for mobile devices */ @media (max-width: 767px){
/* classes for the selected element */ .td-post-template-default header .entry-title{
/* css rule */ font-size: 28px;
}
}
Notice that this example it’s for the post title from post template default. For other elements and post templates classes will be different and you need to inspect the element (hover over, right click >
Inspect element) and target that specific classes that the changes take effect.
Thanks!
I have been doing many live edits to the style.css and want to ensure folks are loading the correct version (high traffic site). So for example I save the .css as style1-1.css and force everyone to reload the new css file?
However I cannot find the file that calls the path to the style.css file in order to make these changes.
Hi,
Did you had any errors when you have updated or ran the script. As the shortcodes were not renamed, for example – http://screencast.com/t/5zbAz3COiO in version 6 the shortcode is – http://screencast.com/t/Lhor8ODLqNZ
Thanks!
Hi,
I observed that my newspapaer sport site starts shwoing this;
Firefox
Chrome:
Google Chrome’s connection attempt to sportvisionng.com was rejected. The website may be down, or your network may not be properly configured.
Access a cached copy of http://sportvisionng.com/
Search on Google
How can I solve this? I’ve not setup any cache plugin yet (w3tc or wp super cache) and it throwing error already!
Regards
Hi guys,
I would to add additional blocks to my homepage but I can’t work out how to do so. I can copy an existing block and then edit it, but I’m stuck with those block designs. I can’t work out how to choose and add new blocks from scratch. For example, I have a Block 6 so I can copy and edit that, but I can’t seem to add a Block 3 or 4.
Also, I can’t work out how to change a block type. For example, is it possible to change a Block 1 to a Block 2?
Many thanks,
stuart
There are not working. The counter stops and shows an example of 8 hits. Google Statistics show more, much more. Bad display on the update subject. Maybe it’s the plug wp-cache? What is the best to use to plug the cash side?
I think I am part way there.
With the help of the example in the API documentation, I have code for the new thumbnail, block and module, and have put what I thought was the correct code in the td_api_plugin.php (links to all code below)
1) The new block initially appeared in the visual composer but when used, and I tried to view the page, it gave a 404 error.
2) I directly edited td_page_builder_widgets.php to include the new block. The new block initially showed in the widgets but when used in a sidebar there were NO images on the page (the featured image also disappeared).
I didn’t know if I should reactivate the plugin after changes so tried to do so and now consistently get the following, and the widget of the new block is no longer available in the list:
wp booster error:
td_api_base::mark_used_on_page : a component with the ID: jc_block_7 is not set.
/homepages/8/d453795254/htdocs/SiteHome/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/wp_booster/td_wp_booster_functions.php

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4800576/TagDiv%20questions/td-api-plugin.php
I would really like to see where this code is wrong please to help my general understanding, but I have found an alternative solution for this particular need.
td_block_21 also uses square images but in the theme is not in the widgets list. Having now found the way to get blocks in the list I put the block 21 in there and works great. I assume I cannot edit this file via the API or child theme? A direct edit is not ideal even though it is a simple one.
Thanks
Propose to use.
1) Open all external links in a new window without additional plugins.
2)) Add buttons TO quickly INSERT your user html tags in the standard WP editor
For example, if you insert a third-party video or other your <div class=”myclass”> or your needs.
Tag <!–more–><!–noteaser–> (the syntax is exactly the two together!) is very useful when adding announcements to your posts: not shown on website, but appears when autoposting to Facebook. for example. The authors of the Council claim that this technique improves your SEO results.
The codes are given as used on my website.
Codes are added to the end of the file functions.php
Propose to use. The codes are not mine, found on the Internet, that’s exactly what I used on my site.
CODE: Add this to the end of your THEME functions.php
——————————————————————————
// external links in a new window
function autoblank($text) {
$return = str_replace(‘href=’, ‘target=”_blank” href=’, $text);
$return = str_replace(‘target=”_blank” href=”http://altervision.org’, ‘href=”http://altervision.org’, $return);
$return = str_replace(‘target=”_blank” href=”/’, ‘href=”/’, $return);
$return = str_replace(‘target=”_blank” href=”#’, ‘href=”#’, $return);
$return = str_replace(‘ target = “_blank”>’, ‘>’, $return);
return $return;
}
add_filter(‘the_content’, ‘autoblank’);
add_filter(‘comment_text’, ‘autoblank’);
//Add buttons TO quickly INSERT your user html tags in the standard WP editor
if( !function_exists(‘_add_my_quicktags’) ){
function _add_my_quicktags()
{ ?>
<script type=”text/javascript”>
QTags.addButton( ‘BONUS’, ‘БОНУС’, ‘<div class=”bonus”>’, ‘</div>’ );
QTags.addButton( ‘NOBonus’, ‘NoBonus’, ‘<div class=”nobonus”>’, ‘</div>’ );
QTags.addButton( ‘p’, ‘p’, ‘<p>’, ‘</p>’ );
QTags.addButton( ‘ava’, ‘AVA’, ‘<div class=”ava”>’, ‘</div>’ );

Hi,
I have a last problem with my SEO, H2.
“Nici o etichetă de subtitlu (cum ar fi un H2) apare în articol.”
No sub-label (such as H2) appears in the article.
I readed om this forum that can be a solution to use a block text but I can’t figure out how to do it.
Can someone help me with a sample please?
Thanks in advance!
Hey Guys, Thanks for always helping Blogrope.com
We just want to enable Rich Snippets in Google Search Engine
We recently install a plugin called “All In One Schema.org Rich Snippets” but we see the extra widget of this Plugin called “Summary” in article. This is an example “16 Creative Ways to Recycle Old Wine Bottles”
So just tell us how we enable rich snippets whithout the summary.
Hello, i need create a script for import a lot of news, and i am needing to discover how is the way to insert the subtitle (i think this is a custom field).
For example:
$new_post = array(
'post_title' => utf8_encode($tituloTxt),
'post_content' => utf8_encode($textoTxt),
'post_excerpt' => utf8_encode($pretituloTxt),
'post_subtitle' => utf8_encode($subtituloTxt),
'post_date' => date('Y-m-d H:i:s'),
'post_date_gmt' => date('Y-m-d H:i:s'),
'post_type' => 'post',
'post_status' => 'publish',
'post_author' => get_current_user_id(),
'post_category' => array($seccionID),
'tags_input' => array(136)
);
$insertar_noticia_ID = @wp_insert_post( $new_post );
Of course, “post_subtitle” doesn’t exists!! it’s only for the example purpose.
Excuse me for my bad English!!
Best regards.
I’m in trouble when publishing articles. The screen is divided using only half see example:
Hi,
You can access the archive using date after the url and the articles are generated by wordpress, check this link on our demo – http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/2015/ You can use and add a link to the menu for example so the users can access the archive.
Thanks!
Hi,
You can update using patch files only if you use previous version for example update from 6.2 to 6.3.
I recommend to make a clean update using this guide – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ if you want to update via FTP here is also a video tutorial – https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Thanks!
A few little tweaks to finalise the design for magazine site using newsmag.
I’m using Newsmag and it’s got some really excellent features, I know I’ll be recommending it when this project is done!
1.Header Style
There are lots of really great options for the layout of the header, but I seem to need the only combination that’s not available. Style 7 gets close, but I’d like the top and main menu colours to go full width. Style 10 gets closer but the logo area is too deep.
IS it possible to have this tweak with some CSS?:
Full width top menu, full width main menu, centered logo with depth thats the same Style 7.
2.Social media buttons
I have these in the top menu and in the sidebar. Social connections are going to be really important for this site, so we’d love to have these quite a lot bigger. Can the social follow links be made bigger?
And is it possible to have the social share buttons use the same style, rather than those blocks
3. Category layout, article list
I’m using block 12 to show my list of latest posts when i need to add extra lists of articles and the M8 and M11 styles for category pages. I’d love to add a 1px line between each post so that they are a bit more seperated.
4. Mega Menu settings
I’d like to add some variation in the mega menu layout. Is it possible to use a premium mega menu plugin to add different contents to each column or would this cause errors with the theme? OR are there options that I missed within the theme? A sample of how I’d like the menu to look here:
http://theeverygirl.com/ Text column + recent post featured image + top articles
5. Article titles in Big Grid
The gradient really helps to improve the readability of the article title, but is it possible to have the text appear in a box instead, with maybe an opacity so the the image still shows through? The box would have to respond to the length of the title. Again, they do this on http://theeverygirl.com/
I’d really appreciate your support on this. I’d like to stick with the newsmag theme!
Thanks in advance 🙂
Claire
Hi,
If you use hide category on post/category page it will hide the category tag on articles from that specific category and also on category page – http://screencast.com/t/XWp09gfJ – http://screencast.com/t/FET7DchPOEk
Enabling category tag on a specific module it will be applied only on that module, but some blocks are made using also the modules so it will be applied also there. For example designing block 1 are used these modules – http://screencast.com/t/ocrqYJ6At
A solution will be to use a specific module on category page where you want to hide/display the category tag and use/don’t use a block that was created by that specific module. In the category tag on modules is also specified where is used every module – http://screencast.com/t/TIpJBzsT
Also you can use custom css to hide the category tag on a specific block.
Thanks!

Typically this code will make any posts made under custom post types show up on the home page for a theme
add_filter( ‘pre_get_posts’, ‘pa_add_custom_posts_to_home_and_feed’ );
function pa_add_custom_posts_to_home_and_feed( $query ) {
if (((is_home() || is_tag()) && $query->is_main_query())|| is_feed())
$query->set( ‘post_type’, [‘post’, ‘reviews’, ‘news’, “videos”, “guides”, “faq”]);
return $query;
}
The code is not working for me with this theme. Only the standard posts are showing up in the post feeds. The custom posts are showing up when i view them directly, but i would like them to show up on the main page too.
Is there any work around for this?
Hi,
I use qTranslate X. Never tried WPMU but I read about it when I faced the same question as you. You said “either WPMU or creating a multi site” but if I recall correctly, WPMU works as a multi site management system. WPMU physically creates X entries per content (1 per language) while plugins like qtrans create only one with all languages inside [sorry this is wildly phrased]. Multi site is supposedly good for performance because having the content separated makes it easier to serve it, while qtransx has to slice the content and extract the desired language upon request. Cache can fix this. Multi site is supposedly worse regarding compatibility and content consistency. It depends on the kind of use your site gets, and whether your content will greatly vary across languages or will be just straight forward translation.
I started with qTranslate and then moved on to mqTranslate, which was deprecated in favor of qTranslate X some time after. It’s not perfect but it’s the only alternative to the multi site option of WPMU, I believe, and it works very well, for a free plugin at least. The plugin is actively being supported and developed which is nice. The only thing missing is native multi slug support (same post has different URLs, one per language) but there’s a plugin for that and they say they will incorporate it in the future.
qTransX can give you a bit of work if you use some “non-mainstream” plugins as these sometimes do not take multi language support into consideration. Many mainstream plugins work flawlessly and others have plugins to extend qtransx compatibility. For instance, I use these ones:
WPBakery Visual Composer & qTranslate-X
WordPress SEO & qTranslate-X
WooCommerce & qTranslate-X
qTranslate slug (for the language based URLs)
Some configurations can have a performance impact in cheap servers, but with a well configured cache it’s actually pretty solid. I run a shitty shared server (for the time being) with ease but I do not use features like browser-language detection and redirection, I use the simple “language in the url” option (example.com/en/ example.com/pt/ etc).
In the end I think it comes down to the degree of support needed. “Hands on” kind of persons might be better off with qTransX, otherwise it might be good to check out WPMU forums and documentation to see if they offer the support it usually comes with premium stuff.
Cheers!
Yoast SEO has had numerous bugs, check the changelog sometime to see how many bugs they have had. My contention was simply that using Yoast SEO as a “comparator” to anything else related to bugs, is not a good metric.
Total number of changelog items is clearly not a good metric for determining how buggy software is. There’s no way for a developer to anticipate how their software will work once it’s installed in a million websites. Without an analysis of the major releases, subsequent point releases, and any discovered negative impacts to the entire user base, you can’t just call WordPress SEO plugin “buggy”.
H1 is useful on home page; H2 also useful for topical elements such as section heads, but not so much for story heads ad they are ephemeral; meaning, they change daily, so they are not sticky and therefore not relevant to long-term, long-tail SERPS placement.
Blocks/modules that contain “featured content” or “most popular posts” can live on the home page indefinitely. I would argue that most niche site home pages do not change daily. If someone adds new content every day, they are likely more “authority” or “news” than “niche”. Niche sites rely on on-page SEO more heavily than authority or news sites.
If my homepage contains an H1 containing “Best Sprocket Reviews – SprocketReview.com” and an H2 link containing “Samsung Turbo Sprocket Review”, does this provide zero SEO benefit to my article in your opinion?
I only speak as an SEO expert having been building websites since March 1995… but what the hell do I know?
That’s all great but in this thread you suggested that short posts don’t rank, missing alt tags I defined are not a theme concern, 800-1200 word original content in lieu of on-page SEO is adequate for “the best SEO”, and H1 & H2 do not provide the benefit on homepages and archives to warrant adding them to the theme. I don’t think SEOs would agree with this.
Having the theme selectively add H1 to the home page is not as hard as you make it out to be. In one of my themes it’s accomplished with a single IF statement.
Having the theme add H1 and H2 to the home page and archive pages will help more users than it would hurt. Almost all of the sites listed on page one of the showcase thread are missing H1 and H2 on their home and archive pages. Sure, we can say that these users are responsible for knowing and correcting their own SEO. Or, the theme can help users who don’t know any better. The latter option is clearly better than the former.
One might also argue it’s useful to inspect the demo of a theme before buying it…
I actually mentioned the header issues to TagDiv before buying the theme (5/4 email). I purchased the theme anyway because I liked it and planned to pursue getting the SEO issues fixed. TagDiv has added the H1, H2, and Alt Tag issues to the list so, so far so good. I’ll be running more SEO tests on the theme when I get time.
…then using it, then posting numerous times how bad it is or buggy, vs. requesting possible changes politely?
I never said Newspaper was bad or buggy. To the contrary, in this very thread I said “I love the theme”, I said Newspaper was “awesome” and I said Newspaper “is not buggy”. All of my replies to TagDiv have been polite. You are clearly mischaracterizing what I said.
All this effort to block adding two HTML tags to a WordPress theme. Geez…
First of all i am very exited about Newsmag theme 🙂 Really exited 🙂
Thank you developers 🙂
Here is my page sample: http://www.mobee.lv
Unfortunately now after first setup my page works in very low speed level:

35 / 100 desktop
I am not advanced user and i don’t know how to improve my page speed.
Have you any solutions for beginners?
