Hi,

I have use Yoast SEO plugin. However, when using your page template to create homepage, it does not support SEO. For example, with your demo theme site, it lack of H1,H2 in home page, Is there any way to solve this?

Hello,

I was trying to optimize page speed, and followed all of the steps at: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/

Following these steps:
Remove render blocking css/js – using the TagDiv Speed Boosterplugin (Advanced Users)

Question:
1. Here is my result after I add the code at the end of the functions.php file:

Then, when I go to look for corresponding ID’s, I only find the social-icons-widget-admin as something slowing down my site, but can’t find any of the others mentioned shown here (click link): http://livelovefruit.com/?attachment_id=7267

2. You say not to minify with W3 total cache, but on my page speed insights it says that I should minify html, minify css, and minify JavaScript. What should I do in this situation?

Add time to post including 'Time last modified' - topic

Hello,

How can i add the time published and ‘Time last modified’ next to the date on each post?

I found the functions here on WordPress.org (http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/the_modified_time), but how do i add this to newspaper theme?

Example: When i publish each post it shows the time it was published along with the date (12 hour)?

I think you can create custom sidebars for different categories and drop in ads like banners that way.

For AdSense, they serve ads based on the user being tracked; so YOU cannot specify unique ads yourself per category of page… (as you can with Amazon, for example); they serve ads dynamically. So, if somebody likes music and is on your music index, chances are good they will see music-related ads.

Exclude/include categories ID's - topic

Hi,

It would be nice to also have an exclude filter option. Currently you have for example Multiple categories filter.
Maybe it’s possible to have a checkbox beside of it that says ‘Exclude ID’s’, so you can choose to include/exclude ID’s.
Sometimes excluding ID’s is easier than including a lot of ID’s to achieve excluding others ( and the other way around).

“Force SSL” can cause loop issues.

Ideally you should set redirect option in your .htaccess file if running Apache

RewriteEngine On


RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off

RewriteRule (.*) https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L]

Google wants ALL pages on a website to load via https, not just home page, as post pages are what mobile users follow from social media shares/links, and more likely found in SERPS, etc.

For the near term, Google is expecting a “transition period” … so, you will be fine if
a) you have changed your default wordpress structure to https (e.g,. via wp-config.php)
b) *all* your canonical links now say https://yoursite.xyz
c) you have SSL cert or pages loaded from CDN with SSL, so lock engages in browser; Chrome will do better job of warning about insecure pieces than Internet Explorer
d) you update your sitemaps with Google
e) setup 301 redirect schema from http to https (as in my example, or similar)
f) you put in a “site change of address” with Google to TELL THEM that the site is officially now https://yoursite.xyz and no longer http://yoursite.xyz

Featured image not displaying in Facebook and newsletter - topic

Hi,

I’m having issues with the featured images. It’s a recent problem I’m experiencing when I’m sharing an article on Facebook or when I send Newsletters. It won’t find my featured image, even though it displays it on my website.

Here is the website : http://www.riders.nc

for example : if you try sharing this article http://www.riders.nc/surf-en-nouvelle-caledonie-2/ on Facebook it won’t show any photo. If I want to get a thumbnail I have to change the featured image title, then fetch new scrape infos in Facebook debugger 4-5 times. This is very weird and annoying. I won’t even get the featured image sometimes and it will just give me 3 photos to choose from.

Is there a fix? I’m losing credibility when I’m trying to share an article and I don’t have a photo to advertise it…

Please see the sticky post on maximizing your site for PageSpeed. You can manually minify your CSS and JS main files. Browser cache settings can be specified in htaccess file if running Apache (I posted the how to on that in the sticky category of forum).

YOu may find it useful to test one of your post pages using GTMetrix in place of Google, as it will also give you better examples of how to optimize your page, tell you what needs to be fixed, and often give you minified versions of CSS/JS files you can grab. Free.

The modal image doesn’t work on pages (while on posts it’s working nicely).

On the web use child theme and following the instructions in section 4. Remove blocking render css / js – using the Speed TagDiv Boosterplugin (Advanced Users), i added the following to the file (root>carpetamiweb>wp-content>plugins>td-speed-booster.php)

Showing Top Menu under Header Menu in Responsive Mobile - reply

Hi,

Menu’s alignment is set from header.php file, you can change the top menu location by moving this line locate_template('parts/menu-top.php', true); and add it after the header menu for the style you want to use, like this: http://screencast.com/t/l0f8ud7l

Note that this will move the top-menu on all screens after the header menu so it would be better(if you only need it in mobile screens) to use this css to set it to be displayed only for mobile screens:

Set Featured Image - reply

Hi,

When you upload and image WordPress automatically crops that image on multiple sizes and based on the add_image_size() function, the thumbs needed by the theme to the different modules you are using are made https://forum.tagdiv.com/modules-and-blocks/
You can read more about this here:

2. http://www.davidtan.org/wordpress-hard-crop-vs-soft-crop-difference-comparison-example/
This ius the same way the featured image it’s cropped, you can change this as you like.
Also make sure that you use images around 1200px and 500px height, this will make cropping more accurate as the max image size used by the theme is at 1074px width and 483px height.

I want to delete my theme and reupload it. I tried via WordPress theme panel but when i reupload theme it wasn’t same like first i upload it.

For example, when i upload theme first, it was my motherlanguage, now its start with English. And it have demo content

I have a few questions:

1. How do I make it so that the social sharing buttons in the author box are in a different style (kind of like how you can choose the different style sharing tools for the footer – these ones seem to be in style 1…I would instead like it in style 3 or 4!)

2. How do I move my content.ad widget and my google adsense ad under the author box?

Content.ad allows me to post this: <?php do_action(‘contentad’); ?> in a template wherever I want, so that it will post where I want it to post, but I can’t find the proper area to post this in the CSS editor to make it go under the author box.

How would I make the google adsense ad display under the author box?

3. How do I make a separate title for the Author? For example:
Name: Carly Fraser
Title: CEO & Founder at Live Love Fruit
Biography: Carly Fraser has her BSc (Hons.) Degree in Neuroscience, and is the owner and founder at Live Love Fruit…

How do I make this secondary title appear? (the one bolded above)

I think he wasn’t clear — issue is NOT with *his* forum, but with the *this* the NEWSPAPER FORUM; here where we are posting.

e.g.,

You should likely learn to use YOAST SEO, as this allows you to build proper site maps for Google for your site, and let them know which pages NOT to index, and which are a priority. E.g., not index tags and categories, and only index posts.

Google keeps track of when the story was first indexed so you cannot hide that from them or other sites like archive.org which may index your content, etc., however you can remove the date stamp from your post pages (there are instructions in the forum, if you search; or wait for Marius or Lucian to reply with help).

You should also learn to use Google Webmaster tools as this identifies which pages have been indexed, you can deprecate (push down) pages, and submit your sitemap once you have YOAST (or similar) fully configured.

Homepage Slider – Broken Links - topic

Hello.
I’ve recently noticed that the links in my homepage slider don’t work anymore.
The links are there. The source shows them too. But you can’t click on them.
Nothing happens if I click on the images, the titles, or the categories.

I’ve tried with different browsers, logged in & out and asking friend to access.

The only way to follow those links is with “open in new window/tab”.
All the other links work perfectly. But this doesn’t.
