Hello @tellesio!

Ok. I will try to explain again. Also, you can test everything on a staging site: https://themeisle.com/blog/wordpress-staging-site/.
Activate the theme in your staging install with the same purchase code: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-6-how-to-activate-the-theme/
Before installing any demo from the theme, maybe you have some posts and images (this is what I mean by your content). After installing a demo with content, you will get the demo’s content and your initial content. In case you want to change the demo with another one and install a new demo with content, then the content from the previous demo will be overwritten, and you will get the current demo’s content and your initial content.
If you install a demo without content, then you will get the design of the demo with your content. So, you do not have to worry if you install the demo without content.
Check this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/installing-demos/

I hope it is more understandable now!

Thank you!

Bettina,

I’m not a technical person. I’m a strong user of systems and platforms but I have limitations. Building businesses through marketing and sales are my strengths.

I’m eager to get this new website ready for launch but the statement about content loss is concerning. Particularly since this website will be a daily newspaper focused on small business news and How-To-Articles and the site will produce a tremendous amount of content. With this said I am still having an issue understanding what you mean…

“install a demo with content, then you will lose the previous content and not your articles”.

What previous content, is this demo articles and the images? I am starting anew with no previous website, a brand new domain, and there’s been no previous content. The demo I’ve installed and intend on using is “Talk Town”.

I don’t intend to use the demo content, other than a reference to begin building my site; a visual aid. I intend to recategorize the menu items, recategorize the catagories e.g. lifestyle, weather, etc., and create new articles with new images. Once I’ve populated the website with my own content my plan was to just delete the articles the came with the demo.

My concern, based on the notice in the instructions and now your quoted comment above, is that by “using the demo” content the changes I would make to the menu, and the new content I create and add to the website could be erased upon an uninstall.

If I make changes to the demo menu, can I make these changes without risk of loss sometime later through an uninstall?

And by creating new content as described in the preceding paragraphs, are the added new content and images going to be at jeopardy of loss?

As previously mentioned the website will be backed up daily.

Please try to be more precise in your reply. I appreciate your assistance with this matter. Thank you

RTL - reply

Hi,

Unfortunately, at the moment, there are no guides on how to transform an LRT demo in RTL. To do this, you’ll need to make sure that you are using a demo that uses cloud templates after setting an RTL language in WordPress, and after that, you’ll need to manually edit the demo using tagDiv Composer.
My recommendation is to try to use a RTL demo to see how those have been adjusted – https://i.imgur.com/JAbOAa2.png

Hello @tellesio!

If you install a demo with content, then you will lose the previous content and not your articles.
You have the possibility of installing a demo without content, and the articles will remain on your end. It will overwrite only the previous design.
If you want only a section or a template from another demo, then you have the possibility of installing only that template or section from the Cloud Library.

Thank you!

I’m reposting a message from the instructions above…

“Notice: The demo can be fully uninstalled and the system will attempt to rollback to your previous state. Any content, menus and attachment created by the demo are removable via the uninstall button.”

The second sentence has me confused. I don’t want to use the content e.g. articles, pictures, menu (subjects listed in menu) rather would like to use the infrastructure of the theme demo. If i add new articles with images to replace the “demos” articles will the new article and images also be potentially be lost at some point? If so how do I prevent such a loss of new content?

What about changing the menu? Again I want to use the infrastructure in place to either modify the demos menu or do what else? Add new items to the menu and delete the demos menu?

I’m really not understanding the statement about possibly losing content by using the demo theme, totally confusing. I’m here to ask what is the best way to insure the new content we create in our new website using the Newspaper 12 theme remains safe from loss.

For additional data points. We are using WordPress Hosting by GoDaddy so nightly backups will occur automatically. We have not installed the plugin it yet but we subscribe to HubSpot and plan to install said plugin as soon as our site is up. I don’t know if this helps but if it can help get us an answer or somehow help someone else later on with a similar question though it was worth mentioning.

Hi,

I believe there is a misunderstanding. When you install a demo, it can be installed with content if you don’t already have it, to help with future customization or only design, as mentioned here: https://i.imgur.com/FZnKaBe.png
The option to turn them off (the ads )can be found in Newspaper -> System status -> https://i.imgur.com/N5Iq4j6.png

Thank you!

Hello,

The website you provided doesn’t use the filter loop element as in our demo; this is how this element works, and there are different elements.

Thank you!

Good day!

I still want to return to my question, specifically about the page jumps (you can look at the video in my first post above, or on any example of your templates or already launched websites). In particular, when navigating through the menu, the page updates and there is a jump, meaning the update is not comfortable to perceive. This can even be seen on the implemented resources you demonstrate, for example, https://theprint.in/ and other websites made with your theme.

Can this jump and flickering be fixed, and how can it be done?

This is very important to me.

Hello again. Just a small question:

I noticed that there’s an occasional “extra class” name on some of the demo pages.

For example, this page
https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper_week_pro/?s=the

Section = BROWSE OUR EXCLUSIVE ARTICLES!

Extra class = td-week-slider
This seems to make the navigation / carousel arrows appear on the outside.

I don’t want to change anything. I’m just curious about where this CSS / code lives in case I ever need to edit it (or change the class name).

Thank you!

I’m not happy with this as I almost lost everything on my website. I received a notification that you have an update of newspaper theme, I have tried to update to new version 12.6.6, it mess up everything on my website. I have “Newsweek PRO – demo ID: week_pro | install type: full”, I have done lots of changes to this. I have restore my backups, just wondering if there is a way you can upgrade to the theme without losing your changes to the theme, settings, contents, etc. Please help

Thank you so much! Removing the “offset” number (from demo original settings) fixed the issue and now the appropriate (category selected) content appears.

Nice! 🙂

Hello @Arturo !

I’ve checked on my end, and the links are in the source code. Also, in that demo, If you right-click on the post link and inspect, then you can see the link there. I’m not sure why Google can’t see it. Please try to reindex your website and try again.
Change the way the mega menu looks. You can add a page mega menu there: https://forum.tagdiv.com/page-menu/

I hope that helps you!

Thank you!

I am saying I have successfully switched the demo prebuilt but can no longer see images? Please refer to the image here https://files.fm/u/wp3btvj5dx

Hello, my website is https://www.elcineenlasombra.com/, but you will not be able to see the problem there. I am designing the change of template to Newspaper in a test environment.
The problem is that the links to the posts within the different subcategories do not appear in the source code. I understand that they are loaded later on the client side. And, therefore, its visibility for Google is lower. I am referring, for example, to the post that I indicate with the red circle. The link to that link is not in the source code.
Mega Menu example
https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper_pro/
These links are not seen by Google or there is a risk that they will not be seen by Google. In that case, that menu wouldn’t work for me because it wouldn’t be linking to items on the menu. I would only link to categories and subcategories.

Hello!

This demo uses the Montserrat, Noto Serif TC, and Verdana font styles.
I recommend using fewer font styles.

Hello!

You can install any demo without content. If you install the demo with content, then, of course, it will replace all your content and design as well. If you install a demo without content, then it will replace the previous design.
You can return the previous design only if you have a backup or you can import only some sections or templates of your current-designed pages from those demos. The template’s manager is in Cloud Templates. You can preview the demos here: https://demo.tagdiv.com/select_demo/newspaper-prebuilt-websites/.

Thank you!

Hello!

That’s strange! We will investigate this issue on all our demos.
Make sure you use the latest update of the theme and plugins.
If you do not use default templates and styles, then you can deactivate the Standard Pack plugin.
Read this useful guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/what-is-ajax-preloading/
Please note that page speed or optimization is not covered by the support team: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-theme-support/

I have been using the business prebuilt demo for several years and now have over a thousand articles but I wanted to switch the prebuilt demo to default pro as it looks modern and appeals to what I am working towards.

Is there a way I can change the prebuilt sites without affecting my old posts, I tried doing the same on a cloned instance and all new posts were from the prebuilt demo, the navigation, footer and pretty much everything was for the prebuilt demo.

I could see my old articles under posts but all the images were no longer showing on these posts.

Is there a way I can change the prebuilt sites without affecting my old posts

Hello,

My website https://supernaturalgreece.gr/ is really, really slow (>10sec to load). Many people complained to me about the problem

Two weird things are happening:

1) The site loads faster on the smartphone (different theme, so I believe it’s the Newsweek PRO Demo that creates the issue).
2) I tested my site from gtmetrix, pagespeed insights, Pingdom. The page load takes 1.3 seconds, and my score is really high.

PS: In the past 2 weeks I have 500 internal server error.
PS2: I had another prebuilt demo before Newsweek PRO, and I had no problems.

Hi
in testing our testbed site for latest Newsmag to move from old version across our news sites; aside from the new format of slider not working in Windows 11 with highdpi accessibility settings; also noticed there is no longer a thin divider between post content and sidebar, or on home page divider between the 2 col and 1 col with sidebar.
[ 2 col ] | [ 1 col ]

Did this option go away, or did we hack that somehow site wide? I found the divider useful to better separate the columns.

e.g., old site:
enewschannels.com
test site
newyorknetwire.com

Thanks. Still annoyed about the slider and not having fix for that. It seems the old slider “fit the two cols” while the new slider has spacers on either side, which are getting enlarged and breaking the gradient as two pieces of spacer on right side (confirmed on your demo site, too). Essentially, the slider not usable for now due to many Windows 11 users.

Sorry to be a pain. As you know once I get stuff like this sorted I don’t bug you “for years” 🙂

Thanks for the response. I understand where to find / select the categories. My question was

– on the (unedited / no changes) original demo, when I select that element and go to the “filter” – there are NO categories selected. However, the demo is showing a single category “travel” so that was / is confusing.

– when I do change the filter (to a specific category w/ content) the row goes blank – no content appears.

Only changing the filter to “uncategorized” brings back content and it’s demo content with / using the original settings, which is confusing as I have changed the Categories.

So “travel” is reappearing as it shows on the demo site. But I have already removed “travel” as a post category, so it’s puzzling.

Is there a private way I can send you a login credential?
