I was finally able to pinpoint the issue, and it’s not just me! Just try loading the Homepage with background on Newspaper Tech (Boxed), on a mobile device. You’ll see what I mean. The big slider is only half-visible, while the other half just cuts out of the viewpoint:

http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper_tech/homepage-with-background/

If you load the above link on a mobile phone, you’ll find that half of the bigslider is cut out of the screen, ’cause the image dimensions are unproportional.

Please, let me know if you find a solution.

Thanks.

Hi,

First off, let me thank everyone in the Newspaper support for being ever so kind and helpful with me ever since I made my purchase, this is actually one of the best ater-sales services I ever encountered! I am even doiung an article on my blog with the theme installed, where I will be thanking TagDiv for such a wonderful theme!

The theme is fully responsive, even non-javascript user-friendly, and I’d really recommend it to anyone. I recently heard something about a new version of newspaper coming, so I thought maybe I’d chip in a few of my own ideas for the next version, please let me know if they are workable:

1. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new “Stacks” and pre-defined styles.
2. I’d really appreciate it if you could modify the tagDiv social counter to be more customizable, probably something like Arquam here: http://codecanyon.net/item/arqam-retina-responsive-wp-social-counter-plugin/5085289?WT.oss_phrase=facebook&WT.oss_rank=26&WT.z_author=TieLabs&WT.ac=search_list
Also, a few more social media options, like Tumblr and Feedburner, wouldn’t hurt.
3. A featured news ticker, like the ones offerred by Jarida and Hot Topix, will be awesome:
http://themes.tielabs.com/demo.php?theme=jarida
http://themeforest.net/item/hot-topix-modern-wordpress-magazine-theme/full_screen_preview/4641602
4. If you could add some more customization options as to the style of the Featured Big Slider, it’ll be really appreciated.
5. A few more customization options for the main menu, with different hover effects, styles, etc.
6. A little more customization options in the Theme Panel.

That’ll be all. Thanks a lot for bearing with me, hope I am not imposing. Please let me know if these are possible.

Hi,

Do you refer to something like this (TagDiv full width gallery) – http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/services-allow-you-to-do-things-like-scan-a-document/

I’ve made a copy of the contents of that post – http://screencast.com/t/y6ybdRgkhttp://pastebin.com/0rmS0RX5
And you can see the settings here – http://screencast.com/t/7hmlcp0Sz

If you refer to something else please provide more details, a link may help.

Thank you, Emil G.

I have to add that about blurred images: this happens on mobile, and limited to Module10, Module6, ModuleMX2. This happens also browsing your sample pages (e.g. http://demo.tagdiv.com/newsmag/category/module-10-category/) on a iphone 4s.

Use the one I’ve given above:

@mrbogdan
If you also need the xml files of the demo you can make a request for it on email and we will send it to you. Send your request at contact@tagdiv.com and also include a link to this topic.

Thanks

Hi,

I’ve checked your site but haven’t found a big slider so I can inspect this. Your screenshots aren’t found also. Please let me know if you still have this issues and provide more details about this.
The image needs to be at least 1074x483px wide so that it can look good in all cases (sliders, modules, blocks). Please make sure you upload and use a large image then regenerate thumbnails again.
You can also check our demo to check how the theme should look: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/

Thanks

Hi,

1. Please add this css in Theme Panel > Custom Css and use a solid color for background: http://screencast.com/t/hnBnXvtWOr

.td-sbig-title-wrap .td-sbig-title {
background-color: #4db2ec;
}
.td-big-grid-title .td-sbig-title-wrap {
background-color: #4db2ec;
}

2. Please use this custom css, it will apply to all links: http://screencast.com/t/QbAU9FOfHU

a:hover{
text-decoration: none !important;
color: red !important;
}

3. You will need custom modification for this, unfortunately we cannot offer custom work because we work hard on the development, updates, fixes and support.
I gave you a solution for this above. Use a page template without articles list: http://screencast.com/t/hq6MZc8jB and instead use a block for Latest Articles. It will look something like this page from newsmag demo(Scroll to Latest Articles): http://demo.tagdiv.com/newsmag/homepage-infinite-scroll/
Please follow block’s settings(this block settings are exactly to show Latest Articles like above page):
http://screencast.com/t/geiG1TUvEFux
http://screencast.com/t/Wl8nOauLcQf
Use Infinite Load and show Load More button after x pages: http://screencast.com/t/asRKs5uZ

Also you can translate Load More from Theme Panel > Translations: http://screencast.com/t/VLp9RxDcBN

Hope this helps!

Hey guys,

Looking to make one final customization before going live…

For the parallax header (Header 6, I believe), I want to shift the title and meta data up toward the menu, like this:

I’m able to demonstrate it here but it isn’t done in a way that’s responsive.

Could someone give me a tad bit of help?

Cheers,
Mark

Hi,

@sixdivision

Not sure how you could do it the theme doesn’t have an option for doing that and WordPress deals with it, you could try to find a solution for it online.

Please note that I have followed the advice given here – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/mising-icon-star-rating-showing-chinese-write-up/#post-33232 – but it doesn’t work. All 3 browsers on multiple PCs are still displayed Chinese/Japanese whatever it is.

More screenshots as proof after implementing the change:

Tried with the following browsers: Chrome, Firefox, IE. All display the same.

I can see all the icons on your demo site. And this is the first time I’m ever experiencing anything like that, I’ve never had a similar problem with any other site online, or any themes, not only mine. Definitely something wrong in the theme.

I installed theme and install demo content but it didn’t show child category below DON’T MISS on Home page.
I select >> Show child categories menu: Show All
How can I make it appear?

I really like the design that has been chosen in the ‘tech demo stack’ in the live preview of the theme – from fonts to blocks. Are these settings available somewhere?

Hello, how can i apply the “homepage-clean” style to my pavlikeni.com site? Your example is here:http://demo.tagdiv.com/newsmag/homepage-clean/ Thanks, Peter

Okay, it works, but not exactly as it does in the demo. In this case, there is a large 20px gap between the notorious ‘b.i.g. slide’ and the menu above, just like it is shown the second image. I tried 37 combinations using all the row setting options. Most just broke the theme. I was able to get parallax to work, but the gap remains.

It would be too easy to just allow a way to edit the ‘big slide’ that is part of the template.

Way too easy.

It baffles me why that would be an option, but yet there is no way to edit it. It’s just there without any way to edit it. What is the point?

Looks like I am going on without this feature. Let’s see what else is included and not editable.

I can’t seem to get the gallery I created to be full screen. I’ve removed the sidebar from the page but it still doesn’t go full width.

Any ideas? I want the gallery to act like the one shown in the demo. Thanks,

WP Rocket is a caching plugin. Also does minification. Not free.

TagDiv speed booster simply moves JS/CSS elements to the best place (e.g., head or foot). Free, included with theme. Does not do minification.

Not really apples to apples.

For the theme demo, they use W3 cache without minification, just page caching on, as well as the TagDiv booster. As noted in the theme docs.

You might try that first. Or, spend the $39 and report back on how it went! (curious!). 🙂

Hello to All,

Does anyone know how to tame the beast that is the ‘Big Slide’? I have imported demo data to help me get started and familiar with the template. I have figured out how to edit the homepage, but I cannot figure out how to edit the ‘Big Slide’ element. I have deleted old post, changed, dates and turned some into drafts and private to no avail. It just removes the post from the element, but it does not replace it with anything.

This is the result when I cannot edit the big slide.

Where do I go to edit the ‘Big Slide’?

This is what it looks like when editing the 'page'.

Thank you.

That makes sense 🙂
I really missed that and I just assumed that the demo was updated!

Will make the changes and confirm!

Thanks Chris!

I believe, as noted in the docs, that some of the shortcodes used by visual composer changed, and you need to either update the codes – or redo the layout for those affected sections.

If that is not the issue, then apologies for the comment. I had something similar happen and it was due to the shortcodes changes, so I just redid the affected modules on home page then it worked. 🙂

Not sure the “demo” pack is updated to the latest version of the codes. Maybe try this with your own content?

Hello,

Since the last update I’ve experienced some odd issues regarding some blocks.
For instance, Block 15 seems to show in white characters other posts and the block title overlaps the content itself.

I’ve done a clean install, cleared browser cache and nothing seems to do the trick.

That is the demo that you guys provide for testing purposes.

Could you please advise what is wrong and what I can do to fix it?

Theme is working perfectly with my install of latest WooCommerce.

Known bugs are the sitewide top banner message from WooCommerce (e.g., “we’re closed today”) settings can cover the top menu bar. Likely some custom CSS to push entire page down the 50px or whatever would be needed if that message is used.

One other oddity, was the columns fitting when sidebar active. I use sidebar left, and I had some custom CSS from tagdiv team to fix for iPad portrait.

NOTE: this bug still appear in the site demo, where sidebar is on right …

the third item in row of shirts in demo drops to second row and “runs into” the first item on second row, pushing it to right. The main item info also drops below the featured photo, vs showing to right side on the actual product page.

This was supposedly fixed in the new update, but I note the version on the Themeforest demo does *NOT* show the updated CSS fix.

Hello

we installed the theme but we have the following problems:

http://www.new.freerider.ro/?cat=24
– category layout doesn’t look like in the demo

http://www.new.freerider.ro/?tag=biciclete-cannondale
– tag page returns no posts always

Good afternoon. On this demo site – http://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/full_screen_preview/5489609
I got this after import – http://31life.ru/
Why so? Where are the other menu items, shop, etc.?

Hi,

The theme doesn’t require code modifications, all solutions provided by me are either server optimizations (gzip compression, browser leverage), image optimization (when you deliver uncompressed/uncropped images and your page has 4-6Mb multiplied with a large number of visitors it will certainly lead to a blockage), cache. The Speed Booster is not that important, it will just move js and css at the page end giving the illusion that the page loads faster because the js/css executes after the other content elements are loaded. All those optimizations should be done regardless of the theme used and unfortunately we couldn’t include them in the theme as an automatic feature. I’ve made a guide here – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/ – the setting presented on the guide were taken from our demo server – also it requires to regenerate the thumbs – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-fix-strange-thumbnails/

There are also discussions on the forum on this subject – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/pagespeed/https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/tutorial-chriss-custom-optimizations-for-functions-php-etc/

Sorry for all the trouble you encountered with our theme, we can offer a full refund, just send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and we’ll discuss the details.

PS – We’re testing the latest version of VC, on our tests it behave properly, we’re trying to identify why it uses so many resources on some of our clients servers. We advise anyone who has trouble with the latest version to switch to the previous one (4.3.5) which should work fine.

Thank you, Emil G.

On the “welcome” tab for theme panel, note options at bottom “install demo data” and “import theme styles.”

Demo data typically for working on blank site (not mixing with existing live site content), while the styles import custom CSS to change layout colors/fonts.
