Oh, also @Marius, thanks for the replies. Quick question: Will reviews using the current system be changed/affected by the future changes?

I edited the code a little more and got it working. However, i know run into the same problem as Octavian. The reviews shows up beneath the sharing buttons and comment box i inserted. Can’t we use the include() function to somehow get the get_review working? My code now looks like this:

Oh and Octo, u might want to add the if_single code to your ads code like i did to prevent them from showing up on the homepage and other pages!

Ocatavian, i tried to copy your code and modify it to my own likes, but i only get a blank page. The code looks a little like this

I tried that approach before, but it’s limited to being able to post the review before or after the content.

The way this function is setup now is pretty nice because it takes care of everything without having to edit the theme files (or having to edit them again when the theme gets updated).

I’m sure there’s a way to call the review into a function.

You can manually move the get review code in td module 1 to somewhere else on the page. It is located in the footer clearfix of the module 1 file. Thats how i added my own social sharing buttons an fb comments box and moved the get next and prev post to the bottom of the post pages.

I have tried that as well Radu and it is not working. To be honest I felt I was doing something wrong this time, because I figured it should work. So I substituted $review with ‘test’ and the word test came up after the content.

I can email you admin access if you want to take a look. I’ve got the code in the theme’s functions.php file. That’s where it should be right? I’m not sure why it’s not hooking up to the new td_module_1 function. Should there be an included PHP file or something at the top of the code?

r1kay, nope it doesn’t create a function. It just assigns an HTML value (with Adsense Javascript) to $top_ad. That’s why top_ad comes before the content. If “top_ad” is set to off in the custom field settings for a post, then nothing gets passed to top_ad, and thus no ad.

Octavian, i’ve took a look at your code and i’m not a php coder, but does your code creates a function to show ads on different posts? I’m asking this becaus of this:

That doesn’t seem to work. I looked at the outputted HTML code when loading the page, and none of the review stuff is being called after the content.

Yeah I know what you means. The visual composer is amazing and so is the review system.

And I spent 20 hours a couple of days ago building my site using Newspaper, so I know what you mean when you say you’re in the design stage 😀 It’s tough but rewarding to take a site all the way from testing to final release 🙂

I think he meant if the review is something like this:

graphics 2/5
audio 1/5
Experience 5/5

He may want the total to be 4-5 stars (because he values experience higher than the other stuff) rather than the averaged 3-4 stars.

I encountered the same thing when I did some of my app reviews, because some review fields are more important than others.

I’m subscribing to this post because I’m interested in the same thing.

After trying to hack together some code to send your way (and for my own future use) to override ratings, I failed miserably. Hopefully the tagDiv crew has a solution, or can point me in the right direction to customize the theme 🙂

It also seems that if you edit the custom field td_review_key to a custom number, it gets re-generated on a page update to the average of all rating fields. If that custom field could get overridden without being re-averaged, that would be really awesome.

Also, there is a new tool in Google Webmaster Tools where u can set some tags and info from your reviews, kind of “how Google must read your review”.
