If you use child theme for files customizations it’s a good practice to check update_log.txt file for each update and see what files had been modified so if those specific files are used in the child theme you will have to check your customizations to not break the functionality of the theme.

Sorry for that inconvenience. The widget weather will be available in theme’s widgets in the next theme update, but somehow we added the options in theme panel earlier. That’s our mistake!

I’ve checked your site and the articles are displayed fine on category page: http://screencast.com/t/WI6MAepoU8HA Try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear all caches and test again.
Also I’ve noticed that don’t use the latest version of VC provided with the V2.3 We always recommend to update the plugins included in theme’s path when the theme is updated. Here is an update guide for VC plugin: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/

Thank you for your reply. I am in no need for yet another plugin. Since I managed to alter code myself, I can live with that until some future update encorporate this functionality.

However I would like if possible to know what php files can be overriden through the child theme and which cannot.

For example the Newspaper->includes->wp_booster->td_block.php does not affect anything if placed inside the child theme, unfortunatelly it has to be changed inside the main theme only.

So what folders/files can we change in child theme without fear of overwites on the main theme?

1. the class is only removed inside a particular post, which means it doesn’t affect anything beside the post itself – so nothing else within the site is changed.

2. i checked the post both on the pc and on multiple mobile devices and it seems to work fine so far. nothing besides the image size, position and clickablity changed.

3. if you provide an actual solution to this problem it’ll be much appreciated (in an update), since your other theme doesn’t have this issue and i personally don’t see a reason (in most cases) why would anyone want their images to be clickable and create a slider… (it distracts the visitor and moves him away from the content)

4. it’s your staff that suggested that i remove a huge chunk of the code, they RECOMMENDED it:

“If you do not want to appear the image in light box on smart list you have to change this in code, (because is not an option for it in theme panel) like this: http://screencast.com/t/T1SfkOLkk
After changing it, the images will appear in other attachment, like this: http://screencast.com/t/oHGmlUs9”

their suggested change DID actually ruin the theme as i got the following message:

“Unpacking the package…

The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature”

the change i suggested only affects the post in question (there’s no reason why it would affect any other part of the theme as it’s unrelated and the class remains unchanged) and can be easily changed back if there’s an issue (since you only change the html code for the particular post)

Try to update the theme at the latest version available on themeforest, V2.3, here it a guide in this regard: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-the-theme/ clear all caches then test this again.

Thanks for your continuous update,

As i said earlier, custom fonts are located in the same folder /wp-content/themes/WPDIV/fonts and had declared the same path in http://www.wpdiv.ml/wp-content/themes/WPDIV/old_style.css which works without any issues.

But after using the latest 6.5.1 stylesheet declarations in child theme here http://www.wpdiv.ml/wp-content/themes/WPDIV/style.css

I am currently using http://www.wpdiv.ml to troubleshot this issues..

(Note : If you need the login credentials, let me send you via email to troubleshoot further)

Expecting your kind help in this regard to get it done.

One easy fix for you guys in next update would be to remove “http://:” from the website display on profile. Would look much cleaner.

Already tried disabling all plugins, twice. both form the editor, and ftp changing name of plugins folder.

Thanks for your quick reply. Can’t find the feature you mean… my guess is that we have an older version of your theme running at the moment. I just checked… version 4.6.2 … i see your version is 6.5.1 !
Did you make so many new updates in 8 months, wow ?

So it should be time we update our theme version i think. Still it’s weird though that you can’t recreate the issue but a lot of my customers see it, myself included.
It’s only on the mobile version.

you might try renaming your plugins folder to force off all plugins; then login, then switch to default theme; then fresh update via FTP; switch plugin folder back to normal name, then turn back on Visual Composer, check all works.

And of course clear/disable your caching before doing anything like this.

As I see there are certain sorting options for sorting categories based on wordpress get_categories function…

The only approach I managed to follow was tokenize each entry in the list and then, produce isolated result for each entry, thus produce result sorted by the order in which the IDs were typed.

I would like to know if there is some better approach to this, without changing too much of the original template.

Yet it would also be more than welcome to get an official fix for that from the template itself, so we don’t have to update that code whenever new template version is up.

The elements tagged as deprecated from Visual Composer are still available for usage and works fine with the theme. I can’t say for sure what developers from Visual Composer will do with these elements in future, but most likely they will be removed when the plugin will pass trough a major update. Best thing would be to use the new elements built to replace the old ones, as all deprecated elements has been replaced by new – more advanced and good looking copies.
