I’m responding to my own messages here, as I learn more about how this theme is working, feel free to point any mistakes to me please 🙂
If I use the tagdiv builder, there are no page templates. The only way to copy your existing templates, is to install a demo WITH content (which will create the demo pages), and for the page I want the template of, simply copy its shortcode into a new page, and then edit that with tagdiv builder in the frontend.
If I want to load/save page templates, I need to use the visual composer builder, which will allow me to use an existing page template that you have from your demo. But then I am locked in using the visual composer for this page.
So if these two statements above are correct, and the pitch is that the tagdiv builder is a lot better, I need to install a demo with content, and copy-paste shortcodes from pages whose layouts I want to re-create in my site. Correct?
Is this pretty much it ? Have I got it right? 🙂
We had major CPU issues on our old system with Visual Composer, and found the TD Composer solution the best fit for us (we were using old ‘shim’ solution originally). We’d get spikes going from .9 to 72 !~ …
Several things
a) make sure you have PHP 5.6 or higher. 5.4 and below are *dogs* and should no longer be used for WordPress. PERIOD.
b) doubly make sure you have at least 64M allocated to WP in both your host settings and in your wp-config.php file (we do 128M and above, but another story)
c) make sure you periodically optimize your DB with WP-Optimize of similar
d) limit queries “per page” — for example, no more than 5 “block items” per page
Might help.
Chris
I find this theme not friendly user for what I need to produce. Not just post, but Pages with listing and this site doesn’t offer me the flexibility to create the visual I need. After a week of confronting difficulties, I am facing a wall and will redo it all with another theme.
How can I get a refund?
What is the procedure,
Thank you.
Pierre Shapiro
Clicking on pagination, clicking on the ajax filter and requesting more posts, etc.
Simply using a few blocks with pagination and ajax filters will do the trick. Each time a user clicks the pagination depending on the block, 5 posts or more are requested. Ajax filters the same.
Simply using visual composer and not our tagdiv composer increases the load very much as VC is known to be a cpu hog.
There is no specific answer I can provide as each case is particular and not the same applies to all cases.
In your case there could simply be a plugin that creates the massive load and not the theme at all. I cannot say for sure.
Thank you!
Hello,
There are many things that can affect the cpu load.
Please follow these topics:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/high-cpu-usage-and-caching-issues/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/100-cpu-when-using-visual-composer-after-site-migration/
Basicaly you need to limit your complex elements on the pages, try not to use visual composer but rather use our own tagdiv composer and make sure you meet the requirements and memory allocation needed.
Thanks.
Hi,
1. You can split the row in a maximum of three columns, just like with the Visual composer
– https://www.screencast.com/t/lqvptr7fl9h
Then you can place the elements you want in these columns. Please note that depending on the row settings, blocks may look different. Here you can see how blocks look in all situations
– https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/block-16/
The blocks use different modules based on the layout chosen
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-blocks-modules/
There is no activation or subscription needed if you choose to use Visual composer. Just install it and use it
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
Please consider that in future updates more features and options will be added to the tagDiv composer exclusively
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/visual-composer-tagdiv-composer-transition/
2. At the moment there is no options to add a page template. There are three page templates available
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/page-templates-2/
Thanks
Hi,
Please note that the Visual composer plugin did not receive any updates since the date you mention, until today
– https://www.screencast.com/t/Io5HIcFyC
Only when the plugin receives an update from the plugin developers, we can begin to make the proper testing and include it in the next theme update.
You could consider using the newly introduced tagDiv composer, future updates will include more features exclusively for this front-end editor
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-tutorial/
The theme discounts are added for all the users at once when available, as Envato manages sales and we cannot make any personal offers, sorry.
Thanks
1. in TD composer, How can I simply change the number of columns of an element like element: block 16.
Personally, I prefer the visual composer, is it available for me to use with Newspaper, it does ask for a subscription?
2. Can I create my own page template?
just to let you know there is a problem with the TD Composer/Element: Text with title
when you click ‘Edit Content’ the popup appears but the loading circle never ends to display the box to edit the html ‘Html code here! Replace this with any non empty text and that’s it.’
I used Visual Composer to change this, but thought you should know about the above 😉
Hello bariton,
Please notice that at the latest theme version we have released our page builder which is named TD Composer and also, wich come ready installed with the theme. Also, please notice that if you will install the Visual Composer, besides this plugin, notice that might appears some conflicts. For a correct use of our page builders, please check the following useful guide here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/visual-composer-tagdiv-composer-transition/ -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-tutorial/
Thanks for your understanding!
Hello Mako,
Unfortunately, I do not exactly understand what you mean and what you are referring to. Please notice that our theme does not have any such an option to restrict you some elements, sorry! Notice that you can use TD Composer which is our recommended page builder and Visual Composer which is an optional plugin. First of all, please ensure that you are using the latest theme version, check your system status parameters to be right increased according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/ and then, clear all the caches and check the results.
If is not what you mean, please provide more details so I will be able to provide a more accurate response.
Thanks for your understanding!
Hi Simion,
Thank you for response.
So the only way to use it in TagDiv composer is via HTML block inserting the embed?
There is a little problem with the width though, where in Visual Composer it was auto.
Thank you
Hi there,
I’m having a problem with Visual Composer.
I’m using Macbook Pro with MacOS Sierra 10.12.5.
Suddenly Visual Composer doesn’t show anymore. When I have to edit a page and click on VC the page appears to be empty. The other members of the team do not have the same issue, only me.
I tried to access with Safari, Firefox and Chrome but all give me the same issue.
As I said, that has happened overnight since I never had any problem before.
Do you have any idea what is that cause the problem?
Thanks
Hello,
Please disable all other plugins except the tagdiv composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it.
Also if the page you are trying to edit was built with another page builkder (eg visual composer) it can also provide this error. Such pages will have to be recreated from scratch using the tagdiv composer.
Thank you!
Hello,
Yes indeed if you use too many complex elements, the post requests will pile up. In order to reduce the number of post requests, pleas limit the number of different blocks with ajax filters and pagination.
The ‘ajax post views’ option can also increase the number of requests a lot.
Another way to reduce the load on the server is moving to the tagdiv composer and not using Visual composer anymore as it is known to load the server.
Here is another topic on the subject: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/admin-ajax-php-bandwidth-hog/
Thank you!
Hi,
All the blocks that you could use in Visual composer are present in the tagDiv composer as well. Other specific Visual composer elements are not present however. The tagDiv composer is not meant to be a copy of Visual composer.
More elements will be added to this front-end editor in future updates exclusively, that is why it is recommended to use tagDiv composer to create your pages
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/visual-composer-tagdiv-composer-transition/
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-tutorial/
Please specify what exactly you have problems with creating your page, and we will try to help you.
Thanks
with td composer not have blocks than visual composer, and the site does not appear than in the your ad without visual composer… here is the scam… you present one theme after which We find that it necessary another plugin, visual composer, because TDCOMPOSER does not create a site as shown in pictures… Deliver a full theme at the full price, and no one can object to anything, but to make the price seem acceptable, you did as quackets…
SOLVED: Installed EasyApache4 with MPM ITK on server. Issue was with mod_ruid2 not accessing session file/data.
Mod_Security wasn’t showing a hit in logs as a it would for a normal hit, rather server wasn’t allowing site to access session data.
Why this anomaly happened only on this individual site, I may never know.
Installing of EasyApache4 with ITK solved the issue.
The mod_ruid2 Apache module changes the permissions of the HTTP requests for a domain to the permissions of the owner of that domain.
Warning:
If you do not select an Apache module that changes the permissions of Apache requests, your Apache web server will run Apache processes as the nobody user, which presents security risks. The following Apache modules also change the permissions of Apache requests:
mpm_itk_module
suexec
mod_suphp

Bogdan: Most of the times, hosting features such as security, caching, optimization is not recommended to be used as they will conflict with WP. Disable any hosting related “features” and install WordPress specific tools to take the hosting solution’s place.
—-/QUOTE——-
As a humble host with many wordpress installs, I strongly disagree with Bogdan. In today’s day and age, you need all the security tools at your diposal.
Wordpress security measures should be used in conjunction with server security measures such as Mod_Security and ConfigServer Firewall.
I do appreciate Bogdan and everyone who contributed to this thread in an effort to help me get tagDiv composer working. Now that I’ve recreated a few Visual Composer pages in tagDiv Composer, I can’t see that I’m any better off. I trust tagDiv’s advice that the transition will pay dividends in the future.
I just hope supporting the new tagDiv Composer plugin doesn’t hinder their effort in providing the best publishing platform WordPress has to offer.

Hi,
I believe this is a huge misunderstanding. There are two composers that are included in the theme package, and you can use each one to create your website
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/whats-included/
You do not need to buy the Visual composer plugin, simply install it and use it
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
However you should consider using the newly introduced tagDiv composer, future updates will include more features exclusively for this page editor
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-tutorial/
You also have the option to install one of the many available demos, so you will not have to start from scratch
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/demos_introduction/
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/installing-demos/
All the theme available features can be seen here
– https://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/5489609
The theme documentation is found here
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-theme-documentation/
Also for any problems or questions you can always post a topic here on the forum, and we will try our best to help you.
If you feel that the theme is not suited for your purpose, you can request a refund and we will approve it.
Thanks
Theme comes with bundled version of Visual Composer as advertised. Why you so whiny on mars with warbling cats? You dont have to buy it to use it. See the documentation from the forum links before dirty dicks scream in pothandle barbeques!
…I DONT WORK HERE OR DRINK BEER ON DEERS ON PIERS!
Hi,
If the theme system status parameters are not according to the guide, then this may still be the cause. You can ask your hosting provider to help you, and make the modifications for you if possible. The server may also have a recommended method in this regard, so it would be better to ask the host for advice.
After making these changes it should work properly. If it does not and you still have a problem using Visual composer, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login information, so we can take a look. Also paste a link to this topic in your email.
Thanks
Hello,
We do recommend using our page builder in the current version but this is not mandatory. Visual composer is still available and can be used.
As for VC the update is worth it but it will not have the impact you are looking for most likely but it’s worth a shot.
I strongly recommend updating the theme, php version, plugins etc. as updates are recommended for optimal performance and stability.
Thanks.
Hi,
There should not be any problems in creating a sidebar. Simply split the row the way you want, like this example
– https://www.screencast.com/t/v3CnaGwCe
You can use a Widget element to display a sidebar from your existing ones
– https://www.screencast.com/t/ZOSv1yckyx
That is the case for Visual composer as well
– https://www.screencast.com/t/gkOha5B2
If you have problems creating a layout like this, some useful screenshots could be very helpful. Also if you are using Visual composer try deactivating the tagDiv composer. In some cases having both these editors active may create some issues like this.
Thanks
I installed xcache (php opcode).
Also I filtered internal dummy connections so they don’t reach wordpress (.htaccess)
Since these two changes, the behavior of server has been improoved dramatically.
My aim is to update PHP to version 5.6, but I read that is not possible on Centos.
Also, I am not really sure about it as our portal is live with about 20000 users / day.
I guess it will happen one day, after the next WP update …
Since v4.12 is the last version of Visual composer before version 5.0, does it worth to update? Or I will have to update theme and PHP version too ?
Am asking as am not quiet sure and I don’t want to brake things.
Apart that, if you update theme, then you have to use page builder instead of VC.
So what’s the point of updating VC at the first place?
any help will be much apreciated
