Our theme was tested with PHP 7.4 and 8, at the moment those are the php versions tested with most of the plugins.
Now, if you are using php v8 and you get that PHP Deprecated message for amp, this means that the amp plugin was not tested with php v8. Also, the amp plugin is not a theme plugin and therefore the only suggestion is to use a previous php version, which should be 7.4.

You most likely have an error in the console that tells you exactly why the settings in the theme panel are not saved. The themes are similar and have some options that can be used in the same way (the options in the theme panel), but Newspaper is much different than Newsmag, and offers the possibility to do almost anything.

The fact that your site has a different version than the one on the desktop can only mean that you used the mobile theme plugin and/or amp (one of the two or both).
If you use amp or have used am, you must reload your site on google (obviously after the amp is disabled, you have deleted any cache, object cache, purged CDN….).
And after the site is re-indexed it should be ok. If only mobile theme is used, just disable it and delete all the cache, and object cache…
