Dunno. I never used VC for posts, as for just such an issue as this.
I think there is a ‘conversion’ tutorial, someplace where one could do search/replace in the post meta via phpMyAdmin (just like if moving from http to https where one needs to replace image URLs — same idea).
Presumably if you have a
[VCshortcodexxx] my neato content [/VCshortcodexxx]
you could search/replace with
[TDCshortcodexxx] my neato content [/TDCshortcodexxx]
* in theory… *
On the plus side — it’s simpler to move to TDC than say, oh, SiteOrigin, or similar, where *nothing* would be compatible.
No reason to not use VC if you like it — it was just major resource hog on my dedicated server, so Radu made a ‘shim’ for us originally; which of course has evolved into the TD Composer — basically it’s the custom blocks CSS they came up with to fit their site design, along with some additional stuff like slider, so one could build a home page layout, without the bloat of VC.
However, it doesn’t have the hundred plugin/hooks/expansions of VC – obviously.
For now, I believe TD is providing it as an option … if you want it, but not required to if you don’t. For some people it’s a major “woo hoo” and for others “meh.”
Hope that helped a little.

Hi Chris,
thanks for answering again. Especially as you are not working here and do it on your spare time 😉
AS tagdiv composer can not be used for posts (ONLY pages)
I can not simply switch off visual composer
AND start using tagdiv composer
because I would ruin the look & feel of all of my posts.
Or do I oversee something and tagdiv composer is also useable for posts?
best,
Norman
AGAIN: you cannot use BOTH plugins same time. Period.
If choosing to use TD Composer, you will need to
a) NOT activate VC under plugins panel !
b) adjust any/all existing pages built with VC, as TDC not 1:1 replacement.
c) then, all FUTURE new pages would be built with TDC
Put another way, imagine Visual Composer went out of business and TD made their own version to maintain compatibility with WP moving forward, but not direct replacement as some elements are ‘owned’ by VC as it’s their commercial code.
Or, put another way – say you like some of what VC did in making cool home page layouts, but VC crashes your server, especially if you’re still on PHP 5.4 — this would be suitable replacement for much lighter weight, less resource heavy, version to do “mostly” the same thing. And, it’s also got less code complexity and “bloat” and therefore far less likely to have the security flaws which have popped up once in a while with VC.
(I don’t work here.)
Dear team tagDiv,
¿Who has been the person who wrote you the guide “Visual Composer to tagDiv Composer transition”?
¿How can you tell your users to duplicate the same pages and linked to the new one?
¿You didn’t know that you can not duplicate the same page under the same exact link?
Beginners users (they are many) who have no idea about SEO, they’re going to lose all traffic, positions, etc. coze all their pages are new one in to the Google view.
¡What a blunder you made with your newer update!
I would like and need to go on with the Visual Composer. Is this possible? Will it work if i buy a regular license from wpbakery? THX.
Hi,
I could put some nice charts when I used Newspaper7. Where do I find them in TD Composer in Newspaper8?
Hi,
BUT the tagdiv composer only works for pages, NOT for posts. So how should we even switch?
regards,
Norman
@Billal, what exactly did you do in the new Tagdiv Composer to correct this page width problem?
From what I understood from Tagdiv, they will no longer offer support for VC in conjunction with the Newspaper theme. I’m having the same problem you are. For now I have the Tagdiv Composer deactivated. But based on what they told me it seems that it won’t make sense to move forward with the theme using VC. Their entire focus is on making updates to the theme with the Tagdiv Composer only.
Norman, I had the same issue. I actually love Visual Composer — it’s one reason why I switched from another theme that had its own custom page builder to Newspaper. I loved that Newspaper used VC.
When I recently installed version 8 and activated the Tagdiv Composer my pages and posts were messed up.
When I deactivated it, my site worked fine again. So I can’t see how it’s possible to have both VC and Tagdiv Composer plugins activated without there being problems.
Plus, Tagdiv advised me to switch to their composer because from now on the support will be for that (and not for Newspaper with VC).
I’m not sure what to do. I don’t want to take time to reformat my entire website right now in order to adapt to Tagdiv Composer. But I also don’t want to use a theme with VC if it’s not supported. It’s a conundrum!

¡Absolutely true!
After 6 months / 1 year, they will put new options in the TagDiv Composer that will be more heavy that Visual Composer. You will see it, time to time…
We are lucky that the market is big and we can choose other new options
Salut Bogdan,

So having used the theme for two years with no problems – purchased it having researched it – it now moves to a proprietary page builder instead of the widely used VC – causing untold problems for lots of people.
Tagdiv should concentrate on what ‘news’ websites are doing – not ‘improve’ something that is already excellent.
I have 7,000+ posts – 20 new each day, I run a business
Firstly it was the ‘super fast’ mobile theme that can’t take ads from the desktop version – ads are how we make money
Now updates will only be issued for the new page builder in the future – not VC – that’s not what we paid for
People have paid for this product – there should be updates for both options and the chance to stay the same.
Do you ever research what news websites are doing now? Newspaper isn’t that much better than many other options anymore.
But now it’s more difficult than ever to use, content is disappearing, people are confused, and developers aren’t improving the features that other news sites are adopting, and so it will probably falling behind.
Plus – my site loads in under 2 seconds with the right settings, I fail to see how any improvement in using the TagDiv Composer is worth any speed improvement it may give
I think you’ve made a mistake with 8 – and have to look elsewhere now which is a shame – look through available themes that are bestsellers for news – they all use VC – and everyone is happy – this improvement isn’t worth the hassle
Hi,
With tag Div composer we were unable to custom the length of the Block, as like in Visual Composer. Enclosed Screenshot for reference.
We are not getting this option with tagDiv composer.
This is our site gbhackers.com let us know how to set the widget bar same as before.
Thanks for the reply. I get that I can’t use both composers on the same page. But right now I can’t even activate both plugins without having errors on my website.
So it is definitely not possible to:
1) only use VC on all old posts and just leave them as they are
and
2) start using tagdiv composer on every new post?
I really do have to recreate and republish everything in my site again?
In that case I cant’t switch. I just can’t recreate everything from the scratch. Even if it takes just 3-5 minutes per post/page it would cost me several days.
regards,
Norman
Hi. Using the WordPress widget editor I successfully changed the widgets on the sidebar of my landing page. However, when I navigate to the homepage via the menu it went to a page with the old widgets. (goodsophist.com vs goodsophist.com/home/) I could not change widget column on /home/ via the WordPress widget editor, and could not find the widgets I wanted to add to the column on Visual Composer. I considered deleting each widget from the column but was not sure how I would get what I want back into it.
My workaround was to change the home menu button by adding a custom link back to the landing page rather than /home/. But this feels like a sub-optimal solution. Suggestions?
Hi Again,
I still have a question. Is it possible to upload single pictures with the DV composer or just blocks and grids?
Thank you again!
I have solved the problem and I understand why others may have it. For TagDiv Composer to work, the site have to be secure. Not, just having an SSL certificate but you must be sure that part of the site is not secure. There’s a WordPress plugin that solves the problem for those who already have an SSL certificate. It takes 5 minutes to fix. Once your site is secure with a green padlock, your TagDiv composer would start to function normally. The only problem now is that it still takes some time to open after you move the element, it takes like forever. How can I fix that one?
I’m getting the same problem. Completely blank page when using TD Composer. No other plugins loaded, clean out of the box installation using the default template.
Here is the page. https://forum.tagdiv.com/visual-composer-tagdiv-composer-transition/
But you did not answer the most important question. I am operating from Washington DC and I realised that when I try to create a new page using TagDiv Composer, once I click on “add element”, I can see the elements, but I cannot move any to any page on the right. It shows a white page on the right but no element can be moved there. That’s why I had purchased Visual Composer because it was not working. So my question is, does it have to do with where I am operating from. I am also using a Google Chrome browser, does it have to do with the browser? I am also using a Window 10 laptop, does it have to do with the version of the Window I am using? The bottom line is even after watching your video, which is not detailed as it assumed that elements would be moved easily. But they are not moving. Maybe I should mention that once I open to create a new page, I see Back end editor and TagDiv composer, and once I choose TagDiv and proceed to add an element, it is just frozen from there. Your demonstration is gorgeous, but it’s simply not working for many of us.
Yes, you want to use one or the other NOT both.
TD Composer is new option to use in place of VC; but not 1:1 replacement. So, you may need to adjust any pages/home page built with VC if switching to TDC.
Hi,
I have the same issue on my site. Just activating the tagdiv composer leads to errors in all of my posts that are using VC. The content goes full width and the sidebar lays over the content.
regards,
Norman
Important Note: Do not use both page builders on the same page!
Read carefully here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/visual-composer-tagdiv-composer-transition/
Hi,
I have installed Newspaper 8. My Posts looks great like this: https://wernsworld.de/screen/right.png
But when I activate tagdiv Composer it looks like this: https://wernsworld.de/screen/wrong.png
When I edit the post with the Visual Composer and change to Classic Mode there are the following Text where I have added single Images: [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
I have deactivate all plugins and clear the Cache with W3 Total Cache but it doesn’t worked.
I need help 🙂
Thanks, Werner
You should use one *or* the other, not both.
Tagdiv Composer is a lighter weight version page builder which is more secure than VC, doesn’t need activation from WPBakery for support, and is much faster with smaller footprint. But not a 1:1 replacement either.
it’s there as option for those who don’t like VC, or where there are resource problems with hosting account, or who don’t need all the bells and wistles VC has which many peeps never use.
I think they have a comparison for it someplace …
