hey Kwacha,
I sent an e-mail to customer support at tagDiv so we’ll see if they’re able to fix this.
I’m having our hosting provider revert our site back to yesterday as I’ve tried going back to version 8.6 but the problem stayed. I’ve spent hours trying all the things everyone on here has mentioned but nothing has worked.
This is the first time in all the years I’ve had Newspaper that an issue cropped up so I’m sure they’re working on a fix. It seems like the new update is having trouble linking to our static homepage we created. All the other articles on our site look like they usually do, just the homepage issue only showing the menu bar on top remains.
I have exactly the same problems!
Homepage not load after upgrade to 8.7 (with all other plugins deactivated).
After I deactivate and DELETE all Newspaper plugins & reinstall them from the new version 8.7 – homepage back to normal.
The problem after upgrade is: Admin section load very very slow (20-30 seconds to load a new admin page / menu). For user speed is OK (Not logged in)
We use:
https
dedicated server (free 60 GB ram)
SSD / I7 / PHP 7 / MariaDB
WP Memory Limit: 256 MB/request
Theme panel system status all recommended (all green)
Only recommended plugins
Only tdcomposer and social counter installed from plugins.
Cache cleared / deactivated (the same).
Any idea why logged in as admin everything move so slow after upgrade?
Luckily this is the first time something this major has happened with Newspaper and I’ve had it for several years now. Hopefully, they’ll figure it out.
Mainly it seems that for those having issues with homepage not showing, it’s not seeming to connect to our static homepages. I even created a new page with same settings hoping that might trigger something, but same result which shows me that it’s just a coding glitch in 8.7. I’m having our hosting provider revert our site back to yesterday.
Of course the one time I didn’t back things up before doing an upgrade there was a glitch:)
It seems like the 8.7 version is no longer able to connect to the static homepage. I originally created our homepage with that WP Bakery plugin that came with Newspaper and that always worked great through 8.6.
I tried creating a new page with TagDiv and it gave the error message :
Errors happened during tdcIframeData.init() -> bindViewsModelsWrappers()!
And it won’t let me do anything to create a new page. Very odd as the rest of the site looks the way it should which leads me to wonder if there’s just a small glitch to connect static homepage.
Most of these errors are just small glitches that cause a big pain.
what’s weird is that it doesn’t seem like it’s able to connect our static page homepage with 8.7 no matter what tweaks you try. with this many issues, they’ve gotta be working on a solution as it’s pretty common now with this update.

yeah i have seen it, then the plugin is USELESS at the moment if we can only use it on the homepage
You can only use this feature with a custom homepage. It does not support widgets it seems.
But what if it is a blog and i want to add it on my homepage?

Just for the feedback, AMP Plugin is great and seems fastest, but there are some major bugs such as:
1. Menu from amp pages is missing.
2. Social sharing icons are too small.
3. No idea how amp ads work. Do we have to fill in our custom adsense made ads in the theme panel>amp>custom ad? Or the google adsense fills out these spots themselves?
4. How can we remove featured image from amp pages?
5. The search button is broke, it redirects to mobile page with some “-” search result.
6. Dropcaps are not working perfect, the letters are inside a colored box.
Apart from that, the post-editor is missing the text-editor, i mean where is the place where i used to add dropcaps and quoteboxes??
And to the ones who have been complaining about amp not on home page, well amp is meant for posts that appear on google, the rich articles we write. There is definitely no need of amp on homepage, unless you want a really stripped off version of your homepage to be shown to your visitors.(speed is always not best at some places)

Since the update is synonymous with everything blank, at least in the admin area. If I disable the plugin td-composer via FTP, the admin area goes back, but I’m not in my posts purely. The homepage itself is displayed correctly.
Please help, i can’t restore/reiinstall. “this page isn’t working” berita7.id is currently unable to handle this request.. HTTP ERROR 500
Just updated to newest version and there is now an error warning on the homepage that returns this:
wp_booster error:
td_api_base::mark_used_on_page : a component with the ID: vc_column_text is not set.
This is a live production website. Please help and advise ASAP.

Hello catalin,
now there is no gap, it turns out there is a margin at the top and I have removed.
The problem is now, I added padding so that the menu part of my website is wider, the code I use:
.td-newsmag-magazine .td-header-menu-wrap{
margin-top: 0;
}
.td-header-main-menu{
padding: 10px;
}
.td-header-sp-rec{
padding-top: 20px;
I managed to make it, but if opened with the mobile device my website logo does not fit in the middle. how to handle it Catalin?
this is a screenshot of the desktop: http://prntscr.com/ieizaz
and this screenshot from mobile: http://prntscr.com/ieiymx
The second question
how to remove shadow on my website homepage. please check my website.
Here’s the screenshot: http://prntscr.com/iej0h6
Please help, and before thank you Catalin.
Hi,
The homepage should be visible once set like this
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/homepage-how-to-build-and-set-it/
If you disabled the coming soon feature, then it should not be displayed anymore. You could contact your hosting provider and explain the situation. Maybe you need to do something else besides disabling the coming soon mode. Or the cache needs to be cleared. They should be able o help you.
Thanks

can you tell me the steps on how to solve this?
thanks.
I have the Newspaper 8.5 theme running on my site and would like to tweak its visual appearance on web and mobile. I would like to hire a designer who is experienced in Newspaper 8.5 to help with layout specific to my audience. Where would I find a designer with this experience and how much might this cost?
Needs: Mailchimp form in footer on mobile, fix category menu, possibly design static homepage.
Hi,
The theme uses modules to display posts on pages, these modules form blocks and grids. A block or grid can contain multiple module types
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-blocks-modules/
Each of the modules has a predefined thumbnail size
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/
The necessary thumbnails will be created from the featured images or videos you set for posts
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image-or-video/
A center-top cropping is used when creating the thumbnails
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image/
The resulting thumbnails are also affected by the image aspect ratio
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-vs-featured-image-size/
So different modules can have different results with the same image. You can choose what block types you use, also the modules used where they are present.
I see you are using block 13 on your homepage, by editing the page with the tagDiv composer you can add/remove blocks and configure them
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-guide/
So to summarize the thumbnails cannot be resized with a theme option, you can change module/block type but not the thumbnail size.
Please correct me if I misunderstand something.
Thanks
