Viewing the Files that are generated, several sizes are created, but not all.
hi i have a wordpress v4.4.2 site running with newsmag theme v2.2
on each module and on each grid the thumbnail is called of a specific dimension
for eg. 537×360 on big grid, 300×160 on module 1
so if i want to have a same dimension of image thumbnail throughout the site how can i achieve this ?
i.e if i set the feature image for any article it generates the different thumbnails of different sizes and displays the images as per the modules and grids
so i want to show something like this
on module 1 image-300×160.jpg is called instead of that i want original image to be shown but with same dimension
on module 2 image-300×194.jpg is called instead of that i want original image to be shown but with same dimension
this is i want throughout the site
so how can i override the different size thumbnail generation process with my specified size of the image to be generated and shown on the site ?

I have added a new size to be used as my featured image on single post pages (Post template style 1).
It appears in the themes panel settings in thumbnails, and I have regenerated thumbnails, but the featured image size does not change (only shows it as 300px by 184px). What file do I need to edit to add this code “td_326x200”?
What is the module name or file name to set featured image sizes? I have edited other module templates successfully, but don’t know which file holds the “featured image” code.
Will this also change the YouTube image thumbnail crop settings when a YouTube video is added to the featured image field in a post?

Actually, if you use the force regenerate plugin, it should delete any unused thumbs. But there is no way to reduce the number of sizes created besides the options I showed above. the theme creates thumbnails for every image in the sizes you select from the panel.

2.) Regarding the font, when I have “default”, Verdana is used as body-text. Once I change to “Open Sans”, then I get Open Sans. I would attach an image, but, am I crazy, or is it that your forum does not support attachments?
3.) One more thing regarding fonts. You’ve placed every single Google font to be selected from for all the items. What sense does it make when nobody uses more than two, three the most?
I’ve been changing one by one and IT’S PAINFUL with all the scrolling (733 google fonts) and stuff.
You already have “Custom fonts” menu, so why not keep pre-selection (fonts and weights) there and displaying just chosen fonts/sizes in elements section?

Maybe we can keep the image sizes the way they are now and for our future posts use the resolution you recommend.

Yes, if you want to avoid the duplicity, you will have to erase the image from the top of your post. As references, please check this list here -> http://screencast.com/t/QZJlizd0 and there you can see all the thumbnails sizes for all elements from the theme.
If you want to disable the social sharing buttons from each post, you can do that from Theme panel, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/2FAoJx3ySOOw

Hi,
1) The theme will use the image sizes as best it can, but if you plan on useng the images with a biger container than 620 * 300 then the images will not display properly. You should use a thumbnail regenerate plugin like this guide shows: https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
and if you cannot update bigger images, use the thumbnail upscale plugin and regenerate thumbs after activation.

Hi I am trying to build my homepage and I am using big grid 3 on the newspaper theme at the top with 4 colums for images 3 being different sizes and 2 being the same. I want to make an image stick to one column and not be nudged to the next column when a new post is created as the size then does not fit the next square.
Any help would be much appreciated

Here’s the thing – I don’t want to change the code. I want the specified thumb to pull up in each block when needed. I have all these sizes specified and tweaked to look right, but it’s not calling them up when needed.
For example: Here’s the edited thumbnails I have in my media file. All of them set to the specific size and needed to fit into the template as is.
However, when viewing the site, these same thumbnails or edited images are not being called up. Here’s an example of my footer that requires a 100X75 and should pull up td_100x75. Clearly it is not pulling the right thumbnail.
First – I need to tip my hat to the TagDiv Team – love – Love – LOVE the power, the look, and the flexibility of this theme. Still getting use to finding my way around – but I am in “Geek Paradise”.

I have however hit a wall and as a last resort I need to ask for some help. I’m having an issue with my Thumbs on the module blocks. My featured image is in a 16X9 (1021X580) and I need 4X3 on some of these blocks for it to look right. The default thumbnail appears to capture the center of the image leaving both ends cut off. (Picture to the left and text to the right.) I have taken the time to crop a basic 4X3 thumbnail for various sizes in the panel (80X60 – 100×70 – 200×200 etc…) via a Post Thumbnail Editor plugin and can see the thumbnails from my admin panel. (In other words – I can create the desired effect with the with the majority of the image sizes already defined.
These new thumbs do not pull up on the site however in the various blocks I’ve created. I’ve cleared my cache, disabled the lazy load, flipped the switch on soft load, even pulled this up on various computers and tablets I have without any inkling the block is pulling the actual sized thumbnail I’ve taken the time to crop.
Regen Thumbnail also appears to override any cropping or changes made to the aspect ratio of the thumbnails – ultimately erasing the thumbs I’ve taken the time to set by hand.

Maybe I didn’t explain myself clearly, sorry, but I meant to say that I DO want the 696px thumb as is … but it’s not being inserted into the post when uploading images wider than 696px. Instead, the actual sizes are being uploaded and then the max-width is applied by CSS to scale it to 696px. Is this by design? Shouldn’t the 696px thumb upload instead of an actual image? Why would it be created by your system if it’s not being used?

They look like the same size from your screenshot and they should be the same size as this is how the theme was built. It uses the same thumbnail size for all the posts inside a block element. if they really have different sizes, it means that you do not have the thumbnail activated from the block settings here:

If you did not regenerate your thumbnails after you switched to newspaper, then you should fo it now as the theme needs it’s thumbnail sizes to be created. Please follow this guide:

I’ve checked our site and noticed that the theme load the wrong image at the wrong sizes on modules: http://screencast.com/t/8PvhEJ3hbhG I am not sure why this happens but you can try to regenerate your thumbnails for this image following this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/ clear the cache memory and test again.

Hello – I’ve just bought your theme and want to apply it to my existing website. There are over 200 posts – each with an image ratio of 144×89. The issue I have is none of them fit properly using your homepage layouts. Based on https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-vs-featured-image-size/ your theme has an autocrop function to display them properly but mine are not.

Thank you for your kind words.
1) The featured image you upload for your posts needs to be at least the size of the biggest container it will display on. There is a list in our theme panel of thumbnail sizes here: http://screencast.com/t/uUNAZADLxua
Unfortunately there is no ideal featured image size. This is very subjective as different people use different layouts. There is also the post template to take into consideration. If you use a post template with a big featured image like post template 6, 7 or 8, then only a full hd image will display properly without quality loss.

2)Our theme does not support sticky posts as it will break the layout of the blocks. you can however filter specific posts in a block by using the post id filter in block settings: http://screencast.com/t/F1eIo8eY This way you can add specific posts to your block.

I just wanted to ask how the Newspaper theme deals with Featured Images.
Featured Images display as various different sizes depending on the page that they’re being viewed on and the blocks that I’ve chosen within Visual Composer.
Therefore, am I right in thinking that the theme will re-size the images depending on their location within the site? If that’s the case, should I be uploading Featured Images as large as possible to allow them to be used in as many different places as possible?
Can anyone recommend a good size for my Featured Images to be?

My thumbnails are not being used where they should be.
Instead, the full image is being loaded each time causing the page to be ~2mb larger than it needs to be.
How can I make the theme use my thumbnails?
I have all thumbnail sizes activated and have used the Force Regenerate Thumbnails plugin multiple times.

It looks ok on mobile – if you look in Theme Panel it tells you the sizes of thumbnails used for each Block – make sure the one for the block you’re using is ‘switched on’
Upload the correct size images (or larger than the size you need) and run Force Regenerate Thumbnails’ plugin (recommended by TagDiv) you can run it just for the image(s) you need from Media Library – all for all images
Smaller images than the recommended sizes in Theme Panel can’t be made larger by Force Regenerate plugin

It can be a bit confusing at first with modules and blocks but here is a simple explanation.
The MODULE is the base element. A block is simply a container for one or more modules depending on the design. So a block can have multiple image sizes. You can see a list of the modules used on every block here: http://screencast.com/t/fr9FyCbdehG
