I installed Google’s recaptcha plugin to reduce the amount of spam and fake registrations, but unfortunately this only shows up in the default Word Press login page not on Newspaper theme. Can you please help me on how to add the plugin to show up in the login page from Newspaper. Both on mobile and desktop.
Thank You

Hello:

I posted this piece on my blog: http://rovertreks.com/escape-to-greece-hidden-beach-getaways-await-you-on-skopelos/.

The featured image appears upside down on all browsers. But it appears correctly when accessed by a browser via a full size laptop or computer.

I am running the latest TagDiv mobile for the theme. My selection of post format is the same for all posts.
And, this is the only image on any post where I have discovered this problem. This suggests the problem must stem from a setting unique to the post. But, I cannot find anything different about the settings from this post from all others.

If anyone has any troubleshooting suggestions or ideas, I would appreciate learning of them. I’ve tried deleting and reposting the image and still have the same problem.

Thanks, Tom

Hello. Mobile theme look changes during the say. Sometime I see different look, sometimes another one. I am sending two screenshots that you can see. I would like first one to stay at all times! Why does it switch to the second one sometimes?

The site is responsive, I don’t think there is a “mobile version” for Newsmag.

Responsive design means the theme uses CSS to change the layout depending on “viewport,” — so there is no separate “mobile theme” to turn off.

The desktop version does show on tablets, like iPad (I use one).

You might be able to delete the CSS for the phone viewport in the style.css file, so you might start there and delete sections for smallest viewport.

But, TagDiv might have better answer. 🙂

Hello,
I WOULD LIKE Disable Mobile version of the theme . They want to see the web From the Mobile version of the tablet is displayed.
Thank you.

@Chris: No issue! Happy to know that you don’t use Mobile theme. Now I will keep using Mobile responsive version of desktop theme in peace till they add some more features to it 🙂

Hello Ing Geek ,

Happy to see you here 🙂

Now I am really upset about my server. Just one month before, I shifted from Hostgator shared hosting to this new Managed WordPress hosting site powered by Google Cloud. I just read that it uses NGINX caching.
(Does it mean I can’t use Apache server based optimization techniques written by Chris> Though the system status under theme panel says it’s CentOS/Apache Server )

In this way, it must be a very powerful and strong platform. But then why is it having ” very large waiting and blocking time on timeline resource”? Is it because I asked them to deactivate all caching from my website?

I have asked a set all the questions raised by Chris above to my hosting provider and now waiting for their reply ( Saturday , Sunday support off) . My server is based in London and they do offer assistance for the modification of PHP variables.

I have also gone through your Spanish optimization code and have noted it down. I am not sure which code I should use but will surely give it a try. ( Sometimes I really think I should be a computer engineer , not electrical )

Let me if you know if you have any other optimization ( or any other ) feedback for my site.

Thank you for your insights.

Okay, I got it, but perhaps my previous comment was little confusing or my ability to comprehend your most recent answer is not good 🙂 So, let me try to make few of my queries simple.

1. I understood the use of caching but couldn’t understand the difference between server side caching and wordpress side caching.
2. Yes, currently I am not running any caching plugin just to check, test and increase the performance without the use of it but then is it possible to get 90+ Pagespeed score without WP Super cache and cloudflare etc ? ( Because I have seen that once I enable these two, my Pagespeed goes above 90 even now)
3. Based on my request ( because of not getting mobile theme run because of server side strong caching ) , my hosting provider has completely disabled all kind of server side caching for my site. Should I ask them to re-enable it?
4. I don’t know why my mobile theme was conflicting with server side caching. So, Is there any way in which I can be specific to instruct only following features under server caching so that I can be able to use mobile theme in future ( currently I disabled mobile theme and using default mobile responsive version of desktop theme?
5. Is it really necessary to use mobile theme because I can see that it kills various necessary features like smart lists on mobile theme ask users to reload page everytime they want to next list number which is very irritating on users poitn of view.

Please try to answer these questions after indulging few of cookies from this cute cookies jar 🙂

Thank you.

Um, if you block wp* in robots.txt then everything in wp-content – including themes css, images, etc. won’t load properly, hence why the “preview” in the Google mobile speed tester shows broken layout.

Even YOAST says not to do this, as it breaks how Google views your pages – as in this case.

https://yoast.com/wordpress-robots-txt-example/

Simply remove the blocks from robots.txt — which you don’t need to do as anybody can still go there — they don’t actually stop anybody from doing anything, from a security point of view.

Google needs to load the “dependencies” for WordPress in order to load the pages — so if it cannot load the mobile CSS, then it can’t actually load the mobile version properly hence the errors.

Have you tried “fetch as Google” in your webmaster tools account to see EXACTLY what Google sees when scanning your page?

e.g.,
https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6066468?hl=en

anyway — I’m out on this topic, but hopefully my ramblings have provided some pointers on where to look. 🙂

I would seriously try removing the stuff in your robots.txt file and retry.

Hey Chris,
Thank you for taking time and making real effort to help me out. 🙂

There are so many layers to your answers and everytime I read it, I find something new to look for.

Here is something important, few days back, I had issues with TD Mobile plugin theme. It was showing mobile responsive version of desktop theme on mobile but not the mobile plugin version. In an answer to my related thread ( read here) , Andrei told me that it’s happening because of strong caching enabled on my hosting site.

And hence I asked my hosting provider to disable caching and they disable all types of caching for my domain. Though after that mobile plugin theme started working but after using it for a while , I felt that mobile theme needs many more featured now. So, I disabled it.

I doubt that these Gzip/deflat things must be part of those caching system and which is currently diabled .

What do you think? Should I ask them to re-enable it?

I will also send the GTMatrix parametre to my hosting prover .I will also ask to check following things:
The following publicly cacheable, compressible resources should have a "Vary: Accept-Encoding" header:
Right?

I will re-read your all your comments and then prepare a mail for my hosting service privder.

Let’s see how it goes. Thank you very much again.

Okay well even without the mobile theme working, i have just fiddled around and suspect its because the header ad was turned on, do the resizing options on the documentation auto recognise what device is being used if it isn’t google adsense being used?

I have just disabled the ‘mobile theme’ plugin by tag div as the ‘menu’ that is the bar section that pops up for mobile like devices upper left, was not responsive. However is fully responsive when i turn off the ‘mobile theme’ and fine on desktop.

However, it seems to not have ‘auto’ resized stuff when i have turned off the ‘mobile theme’ – Can you please take a look for me?
As it stands i actually prefer the ‘mobile theme’ turned off too now i found a way of having the menu working!

Look forward to your replies!
Thank you

FYI — and I know you don’t care about my opinion — With one of my sites, running latest Newsmag – no caching plugin, no CDN — it passes mobile friendly, just like all our sites running TagDiv theme:

https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fcalifornianewswire.com%2Fsambrailo-packaging-launches-certified-organic-fruits-and-vegetables-packaging-for-ccof-certified-growers%2F

I suspect your robots.txt file is messing up your site, regardless of theme.

Of course this *is* noted on the mobile friendly test page.

Even with the ENFOLD theme, and with the “mobile friendly” okay badge, you still have some notable problems.

How Googlebot sees this page
This page uses 28 resources which are blocked by robots.txt.

Looks like you might have a bad config in your robots.txt blocking things, which is why I see a broken layout with missing CSS/JS even with this theme in the preview image.

Hello. On desktop posts, it is written: By BizarreTurkey.com – September 7, 2016

But this has disappeared from mobile theme. I tried in different mobile phones but none of them display it. Here is a screenshot: http://imgur.com/ABAhaTa

What may be the issue?

Andrei, you did a speed test, not mobile friendly test, here is the last test I did just now where it shows no mobile friendly errors..https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/?url=www.cubacontacto.com%2Fnoticias
By the way, I implemented your css files on your theme’s panel and error was still present, that’s why I changed to new theme, ok, I don’t know what kind of test you did, but according to webmasters tools, blog page still showed not mobile friendly.
Whats your next recommendation to solve this?

Hi,
The cdn has nothing to do with it. Simply install wp super cache and edit it’s files according to the link i posted above. A cdn is a different matter and not related to the mobile theme issue and wp super cache
Thank you!

In addition to my question above about renaming the newspaper folder, I have one more question.

Wordpress says: The TagDiv Mobile Theme is not supported by the current activated theme. Please update your theme!
File message: /home/bizarret/public_html/wp-content/plugins/td-mobile-plugin/td-mobile-plugin.php

Should I delete tagdiv plugins (mobile and social counter) before installing the latest version of Newspaper theme?

Hello gilli,

For your mobile mode, if you want to get rid of the header, please try the code below.

The code is ->

@media (max-width:767px){
.td-menu-background{
display:none
}
.td-grid-wrap{
padding:0;
}
.td-menu-placeholder{
display:none;
}
.td-header-bg{
display:none;
}
}

The result -> http://screencast.com/t/kQLB7VkXFOqO

and if you want to replace the placements for your logo and header ad, please try the code below and place it in Theme panel.

The code is ->

.header-logo-wrap{
float:left!important;
}

The result -> http://screencast.com/t/cm6Hlaeu

Please notice that places were reversed due your RTL mode.

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi Chris and @TagDiv Team,

I have been reading Chris’s custom optimizations for functions.php etc tutorial many times and today. I thought to make use of it for my website based on NewsPaper theme.

The sticky post by Chris is meant for NewsMag theme and I have no idea how compatible it is with Newspaper theme. Still I tried the most updated version of his optimisation code with name “/** CUSTOM OPTIM CODE : by Christopher Simmons – REV 8.17.16 */ ” using guidance written under this sticky thread

Here is the full code that I used is here Pastebin link

I also tried “slim version for newspaper them: june 2015” pastebin code here

along with one of above written codes ( not both at the same time)

I also added following things under HTACESS ( my htaccess file is here ), optimise my Database filesusing WP-optimise and WP-Sweep and have optimised my style.CSS using online minifaction tool suggested by Chris.

After trying all these things, though I felt that the backend and front of my site is comparably fast , but no considerable change in Page speed score or GTMatrix score.

Before all these customisation and optimization techniques:( Note: I have disabled all other caching plugins and CloudFlare since last few days to work on live raw site )

GTMATRiX Test Link: Click this

Pagespeed Test Link: Click this
PAGESPPED SCORE: MOBILE: 42 DESKTOP: 48
GTMATRIX SCORE: PAGESPEED SCORE: 56 YSLOW SCORE: 52

After making all these changes: ( Note: I have disabled all other cachine plugins and cloudflare since last few days to work on live raw site )

PAGESPEED SCORE: MOBILE: 42 DESKTOP: 50
GTMATRIX SCORE: PAGESPEED SCORE: 58 YSLOW SCORE: 56

So, the change in very minimal. Previosuly with WP Super cache and cloudflare, my GTmatrix scode used to be 95+gh under various threads here, many users have experienced 98+ pagespeed score after using Chris Techniques.

What am I doing wrong? Does Chris’s codes not support or work for Newspaper theme? Should I finally use slim mini newspaper version or the newsmag theme one ?

Is there any such thread for the NewsPaper theme?

Please help me to get answers for all these issues.

Thank you.
